2 Peter 3: 5-7 "5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."
Comparing the evolution of DNA to an explosion is a printing press is ridiculous:
1. Evolution has taken place over billions of years; explosions are instantaneous;
2. There are parameters that govern evolution; explosions are uncontrolled and random.
If there were several (million) explosions in a printing press, with people walking around in the rubble after each one collecting bits of paper that made some sense, that would be closer.
Turek's idea of evolution WOULD take a lot of faith.
Next E=Mc^2 does not explain that the space, time and energy of the universe had a beginning.... again this fool knows this too and in this case he's simply lying!
Relativity explains...erm... RELATIVITY...or the 'relationship' between time space and energy... it says nothing about the big bang...since that wasn't discovered for another few decades AFTER special relativity!
@MumblingMickey If there was nothing before the existence of the universe then how did the universe come into existance? How does everything come into existance out of nothing?
@LPD31314 Nobody knows. Some people just have the balls to admit it, while others make up fantasies to comfort them and babysit them so they don't have to take responsibility for their own lives.
@martinbuzora So why don't you believe in God or a higher being? Since no one knows how everything began then you have to admit that there is a possibilty that God or at least a higher being could have created everything.
@LPD31314 I don't believe in God because nobody has ever presented any logical evidence for it. And of COURSE I admit that there is a possibility of ANYTHING!!!! I will believe in invisible Lizardgoblins who shit fireballs that cause global warming, if there is evidence of it. I will believe in anything if there is logical evidence for it.
@dragaoastro69 Well this is the crux of the matter... if one can shift responsibility for ones actions to pleasing a god then clearly one is free to do things like say ... shoot an abortion doctor...or crash planes into buildings... and claim it was 'the will of a god' ... rather than man up and admit that one personally dislikes abortion, or homosexuals, or Americans...or whatever... and shift responsibility to a God.
Personally I take responsibility for my own actions...
@martinbuzora Well nobody knows what initiated the universe... but we do actually know that particles and energy are 'right now' being created and destroyed .... (which was his question)
How that happens is rather complex...and it is also known, but not open to an explanation in 500 characters... (see quantum field theory)
But where you might look that up... for no reason other than curiosity...he won't. If he did then it would remove another excuse...and he's running out of those!
@LPD31314 The words 'before' and 'universe' aren't compatible with one another... how can there be a 'before' to something that gave rise to time itself?
Seriously... silly questions get a silly answer ... your answer there fore is 42!
Nobody said the universe was derived from nothing... but since we are on the subject the current universe as it stands does indeed create and destroy particles from literally nothing... assuming you understand the math.
Valenkin was actually referring to the death of the steady state universe.... he was not saying it was a problem for physicists because they need to explain God... he was saying the steady state universe needed to explain inflationary theory... which has as much to do with the existence of a god as taste has to do with the color blue!
Yet Turek says here that the 'problem' was that god now need to be explained... which is total and utter bullshit... and he knows it too!
@pheonixking52 Almost everything he said was either a misquote... or untrue..
Would you like me to point out where he deliberately lied to you? and explain WHY they are not only lies...but how I know, that he knew, they were lies before uttering them?
I'm guessing you'd rather I didn't do that... but I will anyway as an example below this comment.
Turek stated that Valenkin said physics had a problem... that physicists couldn't explain certain things... and in no uncertain terms told you that physicists had a problem in trying to explain the birth of the universe without God.
That is simply untrue... and Turek knows it. He knows full well that Valenkin was referring to the steady state theory, not God! But he also knows you are not educated in the history of physics well enough to either understand or question that!
We can all be excellent debaters and win every argument if we are prepared to lie to people who simply don't know any better and fear science too much to confirm if what they are being told is correct.
Now let me say that again.. Turek lied throughout this debate, and I can demonstrate that to your satisfaction.
Do you doubt it? Would you like me to go through it with you and explain where he is lying. If you confirm those lies yourself what would you think of Turek?
@Glovefullavasoline Tell me about these volumes. When the majority of the world-wide scientific community agrees with Turek and rest of the apologists and when it's been discovered that the world is indeed closer to 10000 years old then 4.5 billion and when they figure out how Noah got all those animals on the boat, and figured out some sort of rudimentary refrigeration system for the penguins, then this guy's input to the debate will be interesting. I apologize to all for the run-on sentence
@3234718 Would you believe I actually had a creationist suggest that Noah took genetic samples of the animals onto the ark... I can just picture it in my head... a huge big flintstones genetic sequencer....
I'm not sure where they get their ideas... but you can smell the desperation as the years go by... I'm sure religion will survive the 21st century...but creationism is kicking and screaming its way to the grave.
@MumblingMickey Big bang doesn't disprove creation you idiot. its proves God or a supernatural being because if it didn't exist at one point, the law of causality says that anything that exists had to be created by something. and for something made of space matter and time, something outside the realm of space matter and time had to create it. One of einsteins laws says that matter can't be created or destroyed by something inside time space or matter. therefore something outside it created it.
The laws of causality didn't exist before there was a fucking universe for them to exist in. Is that too complex for you to grasp...would you like me to explain it to you with crayons and a coloring book?
I get the feeling it'd be like demonstrating the wheel to a frog.
Also why are physicists constantly referred to as idiots by creationists of all people? To be honest I just find that hilarious..
Next Einstein did not formulate the conservation of energy you muppet!
CONT. To top that off you even misunderstand conservation of energy. Start by looking up James Prescott Joule's
What I find astounding about people like you my friend is that you are sitting in front of the largest library the world has ever seen and yet you still refuse to open a new tab and find out if the nonsense you are spouting is accurate.
Then you'd have the gaul to wonder why most people will consider you uneducated and stupid.
Seriously...read a book, it really won't kill you.
@MumblingMickey Theres no point in addressing people who clearly haven't a clue about pretty simple concepts... he's not educated, that's obvious, but there's really no need to insult the guy and beret the fuck out of him.
In fact telling him to basically go away an read shit he probably has no interest in is not really likely to result in him doing anything like that.
If he uses his ignorance of classical physics to hold on to some model of a god he want's to believe in...then let him.
@MumblingMickey See now you're just being immature, and you @unrealistix or whatever, as a matter of fact i do read physics books, and if you are just pissed off about something and it comfort you to say there is no God, well fine thats your opinion. Lastly, can you tell me what existed before all matter in the universe, if anything? You mumbling, you're just an angry asshole shut up.
give me a break. if the shoe were on the other foot...and you had idiots asking you totally stupid questions like the one you just mooted.... then after a little time you'd get pretty pissed off that people can't just look this shit up since they are in front of the internet.
Yet here you are claiming all the wonderful physics books you read? and you never realised your question was so stupid? And you'd wonder why people get frustrated with your stupid questions?
turek was right, all hitchens did was complain about religion and mother teresa. the universe exist and humans exist. if there is no God then hitchens should have explained how we the universe was created out of nothing and how life came from non-life. then again, i have never heard any atheist give a good explanation of how we came from nothing.
@Marc9945 Actaully what he needed to explain... was how his world view differs from the theist one and where it is more advantageous... he also needed to explain how the theist one was a disadvantage...
Turek needed to do the opposite...
Both of them failed miserably or didn't listen to the moderator introducing the subject of the debate.
It was a total waste of time, neither stuck to the subject...
I have a feeling when the day comes where scientist agree on that fact that their is a God. It's going to be their own God, and not the one's christian believe in.And if not mistaken Is going to be the Antichrist they are going to believe in and claim that is the real God.
Jesus. Turek doesn't need that microphone. I'M SHOUTING! I'M RIGHT BECAUSE I'M LOUDER THAN YOU! I've had to change the EQ on my computer just so he's semi-bearable to listen to
Anyone who starts his argument with the "WHO HERE IS FROM X??" to solicit a lot of cheering and whooping, should automatically lose the debate. They also deserve a fucking knitting needle to the eye.
When did I say it is the God of the Bible who is the source of morality? C.S. Lewis' book may be called Mere Christianity but the first part has nothing to do with any religions. The evidence I use for a source of absolute morality is man. There are morals that everyone knows and thinks everyone should follow. Men did not invent these morals so the only way we have them is that some outside force gave them to us.
true christians will not allow blind and arrogant atheists tell us what to believe. if they dont believe in GOD why do they bother and not sit at home? yet the evidence is so clear that science is even showing us more wonders they cant understand....where does dark matter and energy comes from? evolution itself cannot be proved.Christians who believe in evolution are dumb as well. u either believe the bible dont try to add. atheists what if GOD exist and u meet Him after death..wat will u do?
@javalenzy And what if god existed and he's a muslim? I guess you get the stall right next to mine where we'll get our flesh burned for eternity right? Pascal's wager is a farce.
@acdelong free thinking means u are unstable and that u re living in a dream, Fiction and transient life. an Ape is more intelligent than atheists becos they have never said they evolved to humans, but atheists say apes are their ancestors. we indeed see the evidence in atheists' reasoning (they are apes and molecules). this is the most foolish reasoning since the history of man on earth, yet these Blind humanists want to rule the world. why are atheist so Foolish?answer: they are ignorant
@javalenzy You have no knowledge of science or evolution. Modern apes are not our ancestors. We did not evolve from any modern day ape. We shared a common ancestor with them. This is evidenced in our DNA which is 98.7% the same as chimps, also in fossils found like Australopithecus. And the list goes on. If you bothered to read a science book you might be able to educate yourself instead of making embarrassing mistakes and looking like a belligerent ignorant fool.
@Pomaori even richard darkwin is now saying there may be a serious case for a GOD (he is a zoologist) wat his debate at oxford museum with john lenox where he was seriously demolished. again u follow these hired professors to ur own hurt while u gamble ur soul. am not going to waste energy talking to someone who is not after truth like u, are u afraid of GOD and wish He is not there. remember GOD only wants u to know He created u Sacred. Richard darwin will believe one day n u will remain a Fool
@javalenzy Lol Richard Dawkins doesn't think there is a god. All you do is spew lies, in fact I don't think you have said a truthful thing yet. John Lennox is an idiot who can't explain anything just like most theists. Gambling my soul ? You take the same gamble too. What if the Muslims, the Mormons, the Buddhists or Scientology are right. You are only one god better off than me. And in terms of risk disbelief is not as dangerous as idolatry. You are taking the bigger gamble.
@Pomaori if richard dawkins eventually converts from atheism to believe in GOD by reason or supernatural encounter, will u still remain an atheist?many atheists advance than u re have given this a thought and had encounters. I just pray u experience on day what Christians have. u think we are fools,no we are intelligent, only a dreamer will look at evidence and still claim disbelief. atheist think they are smart, no u guys arent.u cant stand me in wisdom.so ruin ur pride, calm down and THINK
@javalenzy Lol. Richard Dawkins atheism has nothing to do with mine. Unlike you, I can evaluate truth using critical thinking. I don't let others do my thinking for me, like you do. There are no such thing as supernatural encounters. Experiential proof is not valid evidence of anything because it is not scientifically demonstrable. You really need to educate yourself. Sit down and evaluate the situation. Just look at any of the bibles claims. You really think Noah's ark happened ?
@Pomaori You say experiential proof is not valid because it's not scientifically demonstrable. Does that mean any proof for evolution is not valid because it's not scientifically demonstrable? You can't demonstrate life spontaneously coming into existence or a monkey evolving into a man so does that mean they can't be proven true? And why don't you think Noah's ark and the flood happened?
@LPD31314 Proof of evolution is not experiential. It is objective demonstrable evidence, like common ancestry through DNA and fossils. Evolution does not rely on personal experience. We didn't evolve from modern day monkeys. That is a common mistake made by most religious people. We shared a common ancestor with modern apes millions of years ago. Noahs ark ? you really think he could fit 10 million species into one boat ? and the geographically distribute them all around the world ? It's absurd
@Pomaori Since all living things have DNA, wouldn't you expect the DNA in creatures to be similar whether or not they are ancestrally related? How do you know DNA is the sign of a common ancestor and not a common creator? And Noah didn't have to fit 10 million species on the ark and geographically distribute them. The Bible says Noah took two of every kind. Dogs, wolves, coyotes, foxes and other similar animals are all the same "kind" of animals.
@LPD31314 Yes he would of had to. There were around 10 million species on earth when the supposed flood happened, so all of them would of had to of been on the ark. That alone should make you think twice. If it was two of every kind that is still in the millions anyway. And yes he would of had to geographically distribute them around the world or else why would we get certain species in certain locations. Noahs ark is a complete joke, I doubt any reasonable mind can take it seriously.
@LPD31314 Same genes same designer ? DNA shows a gradual pattern. If there were a designer, DNA would just show that those animals who have similar functions have similar DNA. This is not what we observe in DNA. Again a lack of understanding on your part. Vestigial structures and atavisms like dolphins having the genes for being able to grow hind legs are explicit objective evidence of evolution. Why would atavisms exist if there were a designer ? that would be deliberately misleading
@Pomaori I don't know why there are atavisms but that alone doesnt prove evolution. DNA contains instructions for ordering amino acids in the proteins, so if all species share a common ancestor then we would expect to find proein sequences that are transitional from fish to amphibian, or reptile to mammal. Instead we find that the basic types are molecularly isolated from one another.
@LPD31314 Yes atavisms do prove evolution. If evolution were not true then we would not find such a pattern in the DNA, that is only explainable by common ancestry. You don't understand evolution that is your problem. You are just going on creationist websites and coming back with a bunch of junk that is the laughing stock of the science community quoting people like micheal denton and behe. These guys are idiots who are alienated from the scientific community.
@Pomaori Evolutionist Michael Denton says "at a molecular level there is no trace of evoltionary transition from fish to amphibian to reptile or to mammal." And I disagree with your numbers for animals on the ark. Noah would not have to distribute them all. It could have taken 100's of years for animals to migrate all around the world. Animals could have migrated by land bridges like the Bering Straight. Descendants of Noah could have taken animals to other continents.
@LPD31314 Re Noahs ark: It is said in the fable that the ark ends up on the highest peak of the earth. At that altitude most of the animals would of died off. What did Noah feed all the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of animals, on his ark ? Why is there no evidence of a mass extinction, during the supposed period, found in the earth's layers ? I could go on and on but you get the point. If you really think two of every animal in the world could fit into a stone age boat you are deluded.
@Pomaori It's possible the flood could have caused an ice age which would have formed multiple land bridges. There are too many unanswered questions with evolution. How did life come from non-living materials? Why don't we find any transitional forms? How do simple organisms acquire intelligence and morals? If Evolution is a gradual process, how do you explain irreducible complexity?
@LPD31314 What do you mean life from non-living material ? that is nonsensical. Are you talking about consciousness or basic cells ? Everything came from the same place. We are all transitional forms. Check the fossil record. Check the evolution of the horse. Cells are not irreducibly complex because Behes theory doesn't allow for function to change. It's pretty simple. His science is pseudo science and has not been peer reviewed. I could go on but you clearly have a confirmation bias.
@Pomaori Maybe I do have a bias but so do you. Since I obviously don't understand evolution, could you explain it to me? I'm interested in learning about it and you seem to know a lot about it, so please tell me.
@LPD31314 I don't have a bias at all dude. I was brought up in a fundamentalist household and was a believing Christian. Until I was about 16 when I started questioning the validity of the bible and I realised pretty soon that the stories it contained were ridiculous. It was no different to Greek mythology or any other ancient religion. The science out there in support of there being a god is absolutely zero. You will not find any theory on abiogenesis that features God.
@LPD31314 Sure. What exactly do you want to know about evolution ? I could direct you to a youtube channel that has a multitude of documentaries that illustrate every facet of evolution. The channel is whyevolutionistrue. I would also just like to point out that atheism and evolution are not mutually exclusive. You can be an evolutionist and believe in god. In fact a lot of Christians are, including Francis Collins the head of the human genome project.
@Pomaori One thing I didn't find on that channel is how life began in the first place. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. Could you explain that? I disagree that you can be an evolutionist and believe in God. I don't think you can mix two worldviews together. The Bible states that God created all the living plants and creatures (Gen. 1:11, 24-25) leaving no room for them to evolve. If God used evolution I think He would say so in His Word.
@LPD31314 Ok then, but can you prove the bible is gods word ? There are thousands of gods and holy books out there, the only reason you are a Christian is because of where you were born. As is the case with most religious people. Any creationist argument is a deistic argument. It just points toward there being a god it does not affirm your theistic stance of prophetic claims and dogma. The leap from deism to theism is intellectually and rationally insurmountable. It's extremely dishonest.
@Pomaori My reason for belief in God is logical. Everything with a beginning has a cause. The universe had a beginning so something must have caused it. Many scientists have agreed that everything came from nothing. I choose to believe that someone caused everything from nothing rather than nothing caused everything from nothing. The precision of our universe also points to God. There are so many factors that have to be so exact to support life that there is no way they randomly came together
@Pomaori A God who created time, space, and matter would have to be outside of time, space, and matter, so God would have to be infinite. There can't be two infinite beings because to distinguish one from another they must be different and if they are different then one must lack something which would make it not infinite. So that rules out all polytheistic religions which leaves you with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. If you study the evidence for Jesus I think it's obvious that Christianity
@LPD31314 All you have is a deistic position, to justify a theistic position. How do you logically and rationally make that leap without accepting that it is just part of your cultural identity ? A Muslim would tell me that Muhammad is the only prophet, a Jew would tell me that Jesus was not the god and so on and so forth. It doesn't count out polytheistic religions or any number of possibilities for things existing outside of space and time, that would be special pleading to say that it did.
@LPD31314 To make such a leap relies on ancient magic and prophetic claims that we have no reason to believe is even remotely possible. It is intellectually dishonest to be a theist because, you take a huge leap of faith in assuming to intimately know what this creator wants. How do you know the bible is the word of god ? It is absolutely and impossible stance to justify with any integrity because it would involve and exceptional and illogical amount of special pleading.
@LPD31314 You revert to the same state you were before you were born. You are blissfully unaware and incapable of experience. The whole heaven and hell thing is a disgusting totalitarian proposition. The thought that I would have to exist for all eternity is a gruelling one . Add on top of that the fact I would have to live for all eternity in the knowledge that people are being tortured for innocuous finite crimes and the Christian proposition seems terrible to me. I'm glad to just die a mortal
@Pomaori Ok so then what is the purpose of life? What are here for? It doesn't even matter who is right because we die and rot in the ground and 50 years later no one remembers us
@LPD31314 I went through this exact same pattern of thought once I realised god was not real. It says a lot as to why people want to believe because it is, for some, a comforting notion. However just because something is comforting does not make it true . So I came to the realisation that this life is more spectacular and precious than if there were a god because it truly is our only chance to exist and have conscience experiences. We are here to find happiness and joy, it's that simple.
@Pomaori I respect your beliefs, however I disagree with you. There is really no point in arguing with you because you probably wouldn't believe in a god even if someone could prove it. I'll be praying that one day you find the Truth.
@LPD31314 Dude; there is no argument for the existence of god or scientific evidence to prove god. In fact all the evidence we can discern points to there being no god. I am always open to new information. Believe me I have heard all of the god arguments and none of them are remotely feasible. The whole "this world is too complex so there must be a god" is an argument from ignorance. Thanks I suppose but prayer doesn't work. I would much prefer that you lived your life to the full
@Pomaori The point is that there is real historic evidence that approves that Jesus was true and that he existed.Josephus Flavius writes about him,and one of the most known Tacitus writes about him also. Why would someone as well known as Tacitus risk his reputation writing about a guy who never even existed?Just tell me that?
@MrUrosSrb Sure I accept that Jesus is a historical figure. But this has no bearing on whether or not the bible is true or whether or not a God exists. Just as the existence of Muhammed, is not proof of the Koran being true. Or the existence of Joseph Smith doesn't prove that the book of Mormon is the word of God. Furthermore the existence of Jesus is not evidence that the Jesus of the bible fame is the same Jesus that Josephus wrote about. They are two completely different people.
@Pomaori I've been thinking about what you said that we are here to find happiness and joy. If that's true then where do morals come in? If that's true there's nothing wrong with what Hitler did because he was just trying to find happiness. Is it ok if we lie, cheat, steal, or kill as long as we are trying to find happiness and joy while doing it?
@LPD31314 The things that Hitler did were not an attempt to find happiness by definition. Being moral for the promise of eternal salvation and reward is a far less noble notion that wanting to live a moral life because you want the world to be a better place. There is no source of absolute objectivity morality that can be evidenced and displayed by the religious. They imply god is the source of all morality, without evidence of this being so. In fact all the evidence is to the contrary.
@LPD31314 No there is no source of absolute morality. If you sincerely believe that this life is just a test to see who, in god's eyes, is moral and who isn't then why do we bother with prison and punishing people for their crimes on earth ? Surely if god is going to decide on our salvation or punishment when we all die, an eternal punishment far worse than prison, then what is the point in bothering about punishing people for their crimes on earth? If god is going to do it why should we bother?
@Pomaori I don't believe this is just a test to see who is moral in God's eyes, but I do believe there is an absolute morality. I honestly don't have a good answer answer to your question about why do we punish people when God is going to do it anyway. I was wondering if you had read Mere Christianity by C.S. and what you thought about the first part because it talks a lot about morality. I would recommend it and am curious about what you think about it.
@LPD31314 You can think that but that does not make it true. Do you have any evidence for this source of absolute morality ? How do you know that it is the Christian god ? How do you make the leap from "god is the source of absolute morality" to "it is the god of the bible". How does such an unfounded and redundant conclusion follow ? C.S. Lewis was A great author but not a definitive source on absolute morality. I prefer Nietzsche or Sam Harris on the subject. They are better qualified IMO
@LPD31314 The cosmological constants are irrelevant. Look up the anthropic principle. The world would have to be complex to harbour life, so it proves nothing either way. That is just pointing out the obvious. You are solving a mystery, the universe, with an even bigger mystery, a creator. Everything came from nothing is a religious assertion. The universe was a vacuum prior to the first cause, that is not 'nothing'. The universe is not perfect for human life, neither is the majority of earth.
@LPD31314 On the question of where did all life come from. You are essentially talking about two different scientific theories. Evolution is an explanation for the diversity of life on the planet. How life changes once it exists. What you are referring to is abiogenesis, which is the study of how organic life rose from inorganic matter. Even if all the science is wrong; what reason do you have to believe in god ? It doesn't win by default, the god theory has a burden of proof too
@javalenzy Actually the idea that we are merely preparing for an "afterlife" would constitute more transience than the belief that we have only this existence. As far as "atheists say apes are their ancestors"- a lot of believers say this too- because this is what evidence leads to, which I'm glad you at least acknowledge yet ignore. Which brings about the next point on reasoning and ignorance- you've admitted to ignoring evidence. Guess what... that's unreasonable and ignorant. learn to spell.
@acdelong i dont think so,it appears u dont even understand evolution itself,no evidence of organism moving from one species to another has been found, all u have are full creatures.that makes the theory baseless.again just putting cells in a test tube will never form organisms this is ridiculously impossible.science will continue to bring more evidence of a Creator.the DNA itself is evidence. Atheists shut their mind and offer us baseless isms.u follow richard darkwins who is confused.
@acdelong do u actually believed dinosaurs lived 65m years ago?thats ridiculous, why did they all die and other organisms remain?atheism just dont make any sense they are just speculative, baseless and confused without hope.how do u think ur finite brain will comprehend All Things (who is GOD).tell me how consciousness and love came to be?are they chemical reactions?the modern atheist is not ready for Truth.wat i see in atheists is fear, hopelessness, unhappiness.can u fight the wind?
@javalenzy I can hardly believe that you're for real, you're poeing me. there is no way that a person with access to the internet could be making the logical fallacies, the complete lack of reply to my actual assertions and the incoherent gobbledygook that you're guilty of here. Speciation is a man-made construct, we do see it in both the fossil record and in the current world because that's what happens when there is a transition in morphology and sexual selection. you are cracking me up!
@acdelong u make me laugh indeed, u re wishing there is no Creator, evolution is the only thing u hold, but again thats baseless becos there are still no evidence found for transitions.ur heart is hardened by the Visible Ignorance u have accepted from ur master darwkins.science will continue to point to GOD.if u wana get drunk in the doctrine of darwkin go ahead.if the human anatomy and DNA does not point u to GOD then u re most miserable.modern atheists are the greatest Fools ever lived on earth
@javalenzy "whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." Matthew 5:22. I would have to argue that given your violation of your chosen magical belief that we will be in hell together. At least I'm not contradicting myself or reality when I point out that your a fool. so far we've covered the fact that you don't know shit about the following: spelling, grammar, evolution, logic, neuroscience, word definitions, religion, the bible, earth history, capitalization rules & comedy.
@javalenzy Oh! what? no reply when you get called out for violating your own magic book? what would jesus say if he existed and saw how easily you gave up!?
@javalenzy yes, dinosaurs existed, we know this because of evidence. Species go extinct all the time without other species going extinct- we witness this. And on to your next ramble- yes I do have hope, hope that my children grow up to be the intelligent free people that we raise them to be and hope that somehow I can make the world a better place for them and everyone else. You ask many questions, tell me please how you know what sky-dad is like and what he/she wants?
@MrUrosSrb What the hell are you talking about? Quote what I said that you're trying to argue, I think you may have replied to the wrong damn person. Your logic sounds like a fallacy though... We'll see I guess.
@MrUrosSrb Oh! okay! I was posing a logical question which defeats pascal's wager by showing that is a false dichotomy. I'm glad you and the creator of the whole universe are such good bros. could you introduce us? I mean since you know everything about him then you must be able to prove his existence, right kiddo? I know god isn't a muslim, because he doesn't exist, so he's not a muslim, he's not a goldfish and he's not a tea cozy... And you're in no position to make unfounded assertions.
@MrUrosSrb furthermore, I'm getting the sense that you don't realize how many religions christianity "ripped off", one could easily say that christianity ripped off judaism and using your logic, that would invalidate christianity, so... eaten any shrimp lately my young hell bound friend?
@acdelong Christianity didnt steal nothing. All Zeitgeist arguments have been refuted.Judaism prophesies Jesus in book of Daniel,i think. So Christianity is just a continuement of Judaism.Your claims would be different if u actually wanted to open a tiny possibilty that God does truly exist..
@MrUrosSrb Firstly, I love your use of the double negative, it actually makes you correct. following is a short list of aspects of christian doctrine which existed in religions older than christianity: virgin birth, messianic prophecy fulfillment, death and resurrection of human form deity, son of god figure, miracle of the fishes, heaven, hell, satan, creation myth, noah's ark. I could go on but I am limited in length. Do you mean Zeitgeist the movie? do you think atheism started with that?!?!
@acdelong I never said that Atheism started with Zeitgeist either,i just said that Zeitgeist actually says that Christianity took virgin birth, and resurrection concept form other religions, and that it was refuted already.Dont put words that i didnt say in my mouth please.
@MrUrosSrb umm, if by putting words in your mouth you mean asking you a question... with three question marks, I may add, then how do you expect me to be able to ask any questions? Oops! that was a question right? Oops! that was another word I put in your mouth! Don't get defensive, just answer the questions or admit that you don't have an answer. I'm not putting any words in your mouth when I ask you to elaborate. So are you prepared to defend your bible or are you just gonna try to bullshit?
@MrUrosSrb Also, what refutation of previously extant religions are you talking about? I don't give a good god damn about what movie you think this theory stems from, but it is a known fact that messianic myth has been attached to multiple religions before the time that jesus supposedly existed. What crank are you citing? reference something please. And who was joseph's daddy? you still searching for an apologetic on that one? how about this: what were jesus' last words? that's a fun one too!
@acdelong See,example is Mithra,Right.First similarity they find with Mithra and Jesus,is that both are of virgin birth-thats refuted-Mithra was born from a Rock,Rock isnt a virgin, its a rock.Secondly they try to say that that rock is similar to Cave were Jesus was born-newsflash he wanst born in a cave, those stories originated later, and finally Mithra didnt resurrect,he just killed a bull.Happy now?All atheist have the same questions that are easily refutable.
@MrUrosSrb Wow, so who's putting words in who's mouth now? did I mention Mithra? Actually yes, I am happy before, and now but not due to your straw-man arguing. Can you please find and quote where I mentioned Mithra? I'll bet even money that you can't! So, because you know a set of facts about one "atheist" argument, then "All atheist have the same questions that are easily refutable."... Do know how simple that makes you sound kiddo? That's the least sophisticated argument possible
@acdelong Mithra was just an example to disprove your claims about Christianity taking its ideas from the religions before it.Same with Osiris, a deeper look can really tell u that those accusations are false.I dont want to start any wars here, but what are you doing on youtube talking about someone who (in your mind)doesnt exist, wouldnt u have better things to do,then argue about something that is (as you say) unexistant.
@MrUrosSrb But you've debunked nothing because I've asked you for references of your asssertions and you've followed with more assertions, just because you say something doesn't mean I have to believe you- you believe in talking snakes, unicorns and zombies after all. So put a link here, there are many more religions that make claims than the ones you're mentioning, which is why I didn't mention any specific religion but instead called your understanding simple and unsophisticated, so reference!
@MrUrosSrb And on to to your question about why I'm ripping you a new pooper. It's because people who believe in snakes that talk and unicorns and zombies talk and talk and try to shame people and make assertions that they feel they aren't obligated to back up... like what you've done here! And let us try to think way back to who decided to challenge who here. You tried to play smart guy and as it turns out, you're just another little wilting flower like the rest of the christian "soldiers"
@MrUrosSrb As far as the book of daniel goes, yes there are prophesies that judaism acknowledges that it made, but making a prophesy is the easy part, fulfilling it is the impressive part and good luck proving that ever happened! Why don't you ask some jews if christianity is a continuance (the word you were looking for) of judaism, I think you'll be surprised how little respect your little messiah gets among his own kind. I don't have anything against the concept of a god, there's just no proof
@MrUrosSrb wait! are you also implying that the bible has no contradictions?! Jumpin jesus on a jack off stick, I hope so! this should be funny! There are hundreds of internal contradictions in the bible!
@javalenzy If I met God after death, I'd ask him why in the hell would he make a universe that looks precisely the way one would expect it to if he didn't exist. Ask yourself, if God did not exist, what would the world look like today? Would natural disasters strike randomly and without warning? Would the Holy Land be engulfed in constant strife? Would hundreds of species go extinct every week? Oh wait that's exactly the world we live in today.
@smiledammit24 professors in the world are looking into evolution again and consider it impossible. have u really pondered. we are talking abt GOD the Creator not gods. for ur information, when u die u would have already separated urself from GOD from now such that u automatically move to the Properties u possessed in this life as u reject Him.occultists, witches, etc (who hav spiritual encounters) will listen to u and just laugh at u cos they see u as a Fool.hope u have such encounter
@javalenzy I like how you totally ignored my questions because they probably scare you. What are you talking about with evolution? Really, what "professors in the world" are you talking about? The ones in your head? And let me get this straight...you think that when people die they enter the material possessions they owned in life? What are you, a fucking Ancient Egyptian?
You can't argue Turek is putting up info and questions that can force one to look at all the recent scientific evidence. While Hitchens seems unprepared and has to revert to wit and humor which is effective to woo his audience. I would like Hitchens to be more serious in his dialoge and at least try to put up an argument with how he believes if we are pretty monkey's where did we get the ability to discern morality and law but most importantly TRUTH.
Victor Stenger to Alexander Vilenkin: "Does your theorem prove that the universe must have had a beginning?"
Vilenkin's response: No. But it proves that the expansion of the universe must have had a beginning. You can evade the theorem by postulating that the universe was contracting prior to some time.
"In this regard, the theorem that I proved with my colleagues does not give much of an advantage to the theologian over the scientist. As evidenced by Jinasena’s remarks earlier in this chapter, religion is not immune to the paradoxes of Creation."
"Theologians have often welcomed any evidence for the beginning of the universe, regarding it as evidence for the existence of God […] So what do we make of a proof that the beginning is unavoidable? Is it a proof of the existence of God? This view would be far too simplistic. Anyone who attempts to understand the origin of the universe should be prepared to address its logical paradoxes. (cont)
"Atheism requires faith that nature is all that exists.
Can't prove that, they just take it on faith."
Oh, shit, you're the fucking biggest idiot in the world.
You have just made what is called the Argument from Ignorance. Here's an explanation: Argument from ignorance, also known as argumentum ad ignorantiam or "appeal to ignorance", is a fallacy in informal logic. It asserts that a proposition is true because it has not been proven false (or vice versa).
You got to be kidding! He is intertwining universal expansion and Christianity, after they opposed it since the beginning. Funny how things they oppose later validate their faith, whether it was opposing Galileo on the Heliocentric universe to God is responsible for the revolution of solar systems. From Darwin was wrong to evolution is God's miracle. Or the age of the universe. How many times do you get to be wrong and still maintain credibility. Especially if Jehovah is supposedly infallible.
More faith is required to be a non believer. Belivers have the one and only true history book as a guide, and since 6000yrs have past with thousands of critics attempting to disprove it without success not that much faith is really needed. The vast majority of folks that say God and the bible are not true have done little or no research on the subject. They believe truth is relative. I would just ask? Is that true.
@Mattyb88ful Well think about it! Do you know how many people that just take the bible and without any study what so ever just discard it as being not true. Have you ever asked your self why. I mean we are only talking about your eternal life here my goodness how can one take the subject of eternity and be so unwilling to at least find proof it is wrong.Since Jesus himself was here thier has been countless intellectuals try to disprove just one scripture to no avail. To not believe takes nuts.
"Do you know how many people that just take the bible and without any study what so ever just discard it as being not true. Have you ever asked your self why."
There are hundreds of religions in the world. One can dismiss Christianity simply based on probability.
@Mattyb88ful Not when you look at the evidence. The only spiritual light in the world comes thru Jesus Christ and the Bible.40 different authors,,over 1800yrs, from fisherman to Kings, 3 different continents, different ages, many never met not knowing what the other wrote, yet they wrote on the same subjects without contradiction the bible covers every theme of life especially on creation and redemption.Let 40 doctors write on 1 subject, count the contradictions.PROOF of 1 Author.(3000 religions)
@chosenwarior u christians always fail to use your comments on your own religion....u ask why do so many people just disregard the bible without studying it? Well for the same reason you didn't study the quran and torah...lol...see how that works? Use all the arguments u have for christianity on every other religion....none of them have any evidence thus being highly unlikley, that is mainly why some people disregard those works of fiction.
@whole27 Just like you assume the bible is not true you have made an assumption of your self. I have studied those other religions you mentioned. It doesn't take an athiest nor genious to figure out for example the quran is not an inspired work of a creator. Just look at the teachings It's ok to lie if it is beneficial to do so, kill if they don't agree with you and on and on. But the main point and difference of Chritianity is our GOD is alive all these other religious god heads are dead.
@whole27 Let me however be clear about something. Thier is not 1 religion in practice today that is 100% correct. Religion itself is the work of satan. It is the most devicive tool used to seperate mankind. I personally do claim to be religious at all. The vast majority of tv evangelist are in it for fame and money. They often missuse GODS word. The bible like most books should be read chapter by chapter verse by verse.1/3 is prophecy and has never been proven wrong who else can say that.
@chosenwarior You believe the bible is totally and completely true, is that right? Are you willing to defend that belief? We will test verse Mark 16:18. You are protected because you fully believe in the bible and in god, so all you have to do is drink 15x the amount of rat poison or cyanide that would be lethal for us non believers and post a video of it on youtube without dying. The bible says you will stay alive.Put your money where your mouth is, or aren't you a warrior chosen by God at all?
@lebannerfan65 Anyone can pick a scripture or a sentence in a newspaper and use it any way they want. However I will humor your ignorance. All spiritual gifts are given by GOD for his purpose.Read Acts 28:3-9 that is your serpant answer it happened as did thousands of other miracles during the starting of the church. Remember this was a time of ignorance and idol worship signs were needed and given in that dispensation.Read 1 Cor 13:8-13 you will see it was time for miracles to end. Job done
It is astounding to learn that no matter how you look at it, you God-Haters have fastened yourselves in the loser’s seatbelt. Pat yourself on the back for being a hopeless tool.
""You hate God ,and that’s what drives you here.""

Comparing the evolution of DNA to an explosion is a printing press is ridiculous:
1. Evolution has taken place over billions of years; explosions are instantaneous;

LPD31314 1 month ago
@LPD31314 Nobody knows. Some people just have the balls to admit it, while others make up fantasies to comfort them and babysit them so they don't have to take responsibility for their own lives.

@martinbuzora So why don't you believe in God or a higher being? Since no one knows how everything began then you have to admit that there is a possibilty that God or at least a higher being could have created everything.

@martinbuzora I fail to see thew link between "responsibility for their own lives" and the origin of the universe.
dragaoastro69 2 weeks ago
@dragaoastro69 Well this is the crux of the matter... if one can shift responsibility for ones actions to pleasing a god then clearly one is free to do things like say ... shoot an abortion doctor...or crash planes into buildings... and claim it was 'the will of a god' ... rather than man up and admit that one personally dislikes abortion, or homosexuals, or Americans...or whatever... and shift responsibility to a God.
Personally I take responsibility for my own actions...
MumblingMickey 2 weeks ago
@martinbuzora Well nobody knows what initiated the universe... but we do actually know that particles and energy are 'right now' being created and destroyed .... (which was his question)
How that happens is rather complex...and it is also known, but not open to an explanation in 500 characters... (see quantum field theory)
But where you might look that up... for no reason other than curiosity...he won't. If he did then it would remove another excuse...and he's running out of those!
MumblingMickey 2 weeks ago

Well thats case closed for theism...no need for causality arguments....he just admitted himself there was no time!
MumblingMickey 3 months ago
@MumblingMickey Big bang doesn't disprove creation you idiot. its proves God or a supernatural being because if it didn't exist at one point, the law of causality says that anything that exists had to be created by something. and for something made of space matter and time, something outside the realm of space matter and time had to create it. One of einsteins laws says that matter can't be created or destroyed by something inside time space or matter. therefore something outside it created it.
pheonixking52 2 months ago

When did I say it is the God of the Bible who is the source of morality? C.S. Lewis' book may be called Mere Christianity but the first part has nothing to do with any religions. The evidence I use for a source of absolute morality is man. There are morals that everyone knows and thinks everyone should follow. Men did not invent these morals so the only way we have them is that some outside force gave them to us.

javalenzy 5 months ago
@javalenzy You have no knowledge of science or evolution. Modern apes are not our ancestors. We did not evolve from any modern day ape. We shared a common ancestor with them. This is evidenced in our DNA which is 98.7% the same as chimps, also in fossils found like Australopithecus. And the list goes on. If you bothered to read a science book you might be able to educate yourself instead of making embarrassing mistakes and looking like a belligerent ignorant fool.

javalenzy 5 months ago
@javalenzy Lol. Richard Dawkins atheism has nothing to do with mine. Unlike you, I can evaluate truth using critical thinking. I don't let others do my thinking for me, like you do. There are no such thing as supernatural encounters. Experiential proof is not valid evidence of anything because it is not scientifically demonstrable. You really need to educate yourself. Sit down and evaluate the situation. Just look at any of the bibles claims. You really think Noah's ark happened ?
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori You say experiential proof is not valid because it's not scientifically demonstrable. Does that mean any proof for evolution is not valid because it's not scientifically demonstrable? You can't demonstrate life spontaneously coming into existence or a monkey evolving into a man so does that mean they can't be proven true? And why don't you think Noah's ark and the flood happened?
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 Proof of evolution is not experiential. It is objective demonstrable evidence, like common ancestry through DNA and fossils. Evolution does not rely on personal experience. We didn't evolve from modern day monkeys. That is a common mistake made by most religious people. We shared a common ancestor with modern apes millions of years ago. Noahs ark ? you really think he could fit 10 million species into one boat ? and the geographically distribute them all around the world ? It's absurd
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori Since all living things have DNA, wouldn't you expect the DNA in creatures to be similar whether or not they are ancestrally related? How do you know DNA is the sign of a common ancestor and not a common creator? And Noah didn't have to fit 10 million species on the ark and geographically distribute them. The Bible says Noah took two of every kind. Dogs, wolves, coyotes, foxes and other similar animals are all the same "kind" of animals.
LPD31314 5 months ago

Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori I don't know why there are atavisms but that alone doesnt prove evolution. DNA contains instructions for ordering amino acids in the proteins, so if all species share a common ancestor then we would expect to find proein sequences that are transitional from fish to amphibian, or reptile to mammal. Instead we find that the basic types are molecularly isolated from one another.
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 Yes atavisms do prove evolution. If evolution were not true then we would not find such a pattern in the DNA, that is only explainable by common ancestry. You don't understand evolution that is your problem. You are just going on creationist websites and coming back with a bunch of junk that is the laughing stock of the science community quoting people like micheal denton and behe. These guys are idiots who are alienated from the scientific community.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori Evolutionist Michael Denton says "at a molecular level there is no trace of evoltionary transition from fish to amphibian to reptile or to mammal." And I disagree with your numbers for animals on the ark. Noah would not have to distribute them all. It could have taken 100's of years for animals to migrate all around the world. Animals could have migrated by land bridges like the Bering Straight. Descendants of Noah could have taken animals to other continents.
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 Re Noahs ark: It is said in the fable that the ark ends up on the highest peak of the earth. At that altitude most of the animals would of died off. What did Noah feed all the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of animals, on his ark ? Why is there no evidence of a mass extinction, during the supposed period, found in the earth's layers ? I could go on and on but you get the point. If you really think two of every animal in the world could fit into a stone age boat you are deluded.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori It's possible the flood could have caused an ice age which would have formed multiple land bridges. There are too many unanswered questions with evolution. How did life come from non-living materials? Why don't we find any transitional forms? How do simple organisms acquire intelligence and morals? If Evolution is a gradual process, how do you explain irreducible complexity?
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 What do you mean life from non-living material ? that is nonsensical. Are you talking about consciousness or basic cells ? Everything came from the same place. We are all transitional forms. Check the fossil record. Check the evolution of the horse. Cells are not irreducibly complex because Behes theory doesn't allow for function to change. It's pretty simple. His science is pseudo science and has not been peer reviewed. I could go on but you clearly have a confirmation bias.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori Maybe I do have a bias but so do you. Since I obviously don't understand evolution, could you explain it to me? I'm interested in learning about it and you seem to know a lot about it, so please tell me.
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 I don't have a bias at all dude. I was brought up in a fundamentalist household and was a believing Christian. Until I was about 16 when I started questioning the validity of the bible and I realised pretty soon that the stories it contained were ridiculous. It was no different to Greek mythology or any other ancient religion. The science out there in support of there being a god is absolutely zero. You will not find any theory on abiogenesis that features God.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@LPD31314 Sure. What exactly do you want to know about evolution ? I could direct you to a youtube channel that has a multitude of documentaries that illustrate every facet of evolution. The channel is whyevolutionistrue. I would also just like to point out that atheism and evolution are not mutually exclusive. You can be an evolutionist and believe in god. In fact a lot of Christians are, including Francis Collins the head of the human genome project.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori One thing I didn't find on that channel is how life began in the first place. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. Could you explain that? I disagree that you can be an evolutionist and believe in God. I don't think you can mix two worldviews together. The Bible states that God created all the living plants and creatures (Gen. 1:11, 24-25) leaving no room for them to evolve. If God used evolution I think He would say so in His Word.
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 Ok then, but can you prove the bible is gods word ? There are thousands of gods and holy books out there, the only reason you are a Christian is because of where you were born. As is the case with most religious people. Any creationist argument is a deistic argument. It just points toward there being a god it does not affirm your theistic stance of prophetic claims and dogma. The leap from deism to theism is intellectually and rationally insurmountable. It's extremely dishonest.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori My reason for belief in God is logical. Everything with a beginning has a cause. The universe had a beginning so something must have caused it. Many scientists have agreed that everything came from nothing. I choose to believe that someone caused everything from nothing rather than nothing caused everything from nothing. The precision of our universe also points to God. There are so many factors that have to be so exact to support life that there is no way they randomly came together
LPD31314 5 months ago
@Pomaori A God who created time, space, and matter would have to be outside of time, space, and matter, so God would have to be infinite. There can't be two infinite beings because to distinguish one from another they must be different and if they are different then one must lack something which would make it not infinite. So that rules out all polytheistic religions which leaves you with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. If you study the evidence for Jesus I think it's obvious that Christianity
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 All you have is a deistic position, to justify a theistic position. How do you logically and rationally make that leap without accepting that it is just part of your cultural identity ? A Muslim would tell me that Muhammad is the only prophet, a Jew would tell me that Jesus was not the god and so on and so forth. It doesn't count out polytheistic religions or any number of possibilities for things existing outside of space and time, that would be special pleading to say that it did.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@LPD31314 To make such a leap relies on ancient magic and prophetic claims that we have no reason to believe is even remotely possible. It is intellectually dishonest to be a theist because, you take a huge leap of faith in assuming to intimately know what this creator wants. How do you know the bible is the word of god ? It is absolutely and impossible stance to justify with any integrity because it would involve and exceptional and illogical amount of special pleading.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori What do you believe happens when someone dies?
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 You revert to the same state you were before you were born. You are blissfully unaware and incapable of experience. The whole heaven and hell thing is a disgusting totalitarian proposition. The thought that I would have to exist for all eternity is a gruelling one . Add on top of that the fact I would have to live for all eternity in the knowledge that people are being tortured for innocuous finite crimes and the Christian proposition seems terrible to me. I'm glad to just die a mortal
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori Ok so then what is the purpose of life? What are here for? It doesn't even matter who is right because we die and rot in the ground and 50 years later no one remembers us
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 I went through this exact same pattern of thought once I realised god was not real. It says a lot as to why people want to believe because it is, for some, a comforting notion. However just because something is comforting does not make it true . So I came to the realisation that this life is more spectacular and precious than if there were a god because it truly is our only chance to exist and have conscience experiences. We are here to find happiness and joy, it's that simple.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori I respect your beliefs, however I disagree with you. There is really no point in arguing with you because you probably wouldn't believe in a god even if someone could prove it. I'll be praying that one day you find the Truth.
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 Dude; there is no argument for the existence of god or scientific evidence to prove god. In fact all the evidence we can discern points to there being no god. I am always open to new information. Believe me I have heard all of the god arguments and none of them are remotely feasible. The whole "this world is too complex so there must be a god" is an argument from ignorance. Thanks I suppose but prayer doesn't work. I would much prefer that you lived your life to the full
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori The point is that there is real historic evidence that approves that Jesus was true and that he existed.Josephus Flavius writes about him,and one of the most known Tacitus writes about him also. Why would someone as well known as Tacitus risk his reputation writing about a guy who never even existed?Just tell me that?
MrUrosSrb 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb Sure I accept that Jesus is a historical figure. But this has no bearing on whether or not the bible is true or whether or not a God exists. Just as the existence of Muhammed, is not proof of the Koran being true. Or the existence of Joseph Smith doesn't prove that the book of Mormon is the word of God. Furthermore the existence of Jesus is not evidence that the Jesus of the bible fame is the same Jesus that Josephus wrote about. They are two completely different people.
Pomaori 4 months ago
@Pomaori I'll message u when i got time.
MrUrosSrb 4 months ago
@Pomaori I've been thinking about what you said that we are here to find happiness and joy. If that's true then where do morals come in? If that's true there's nothing wrong with what Hitler did because he was just trying to find happiness. Is it ok if we lie, cheat, steal, or kill as long as we are trying to find happiness and joy while doing it?
LPD31314 4 months ago
@LPD31314 The things that Hitler did were not an attempt to find happiness by definition. Being moral for the promise of eternal salvation and reward is a far less noble notion that wanting to live a moral life because you want the world to be a better place. There is no source of absolute objectivity morality that can be evidenced and displayed by the religious. They imply god is the source of all morality, without evidence of this being so. In fact all the evidence is to the contrary.
Pomaori 4 months ago
@Pomaori Ok so is there an absolute objective morality? And if there is where does it come from?
LPD31314 4 months ago
@LPD31314 No there is no source of absolute morality. If you sincerely believe that this life is just a test to see who, in god's eyes, is moral and who isn't then why do we bother with prison and punishing people for their crimes on earth ? Surely if god is going to decide on our salvation or punishment when we all die, an eternal punishment far worse than prison, then what is the point in bothering about punishing people for their crimes on earth? If god is going to do it why should we bother?
Pomaori 4 months ago
@Pomaori I don't believe this is just a test to see who is moral in God's eyes, but I do believe there is an absolute morality. I honestly don't have a good answer answer to your question about why do we punish people when God is going to do it anyway. I was wondering if you had read Mere Christianity by C.S. and what you thought about the first part because it talks a lot about morality. I would recommend it and am curious about what you think about it.
LPD31314 4 months ago
@LPD31314 You can think that but that does not make it true. Do you have any evidence for this source of absolute morality ? How do you know that it is the Christian god ? How do you make the leap from "god is the source of absolute morality" to "it is the god of the bible". How does such an unfounded and redundant conclusion follow ? C.S. Lewis was A great author but not a definitive source on absolute morality. I prefer Nietzsche or Sam Harris on the subject. They are better qualified IMO
Pomaori 4 months ago
@Pomaori *by C.S.Lewis
LPD31314 4 months ago
@LPD31314 The cosmological constants are irrelevant. Look up the anthropic principle. The world would have to be complex to harbour life, so it proves nothing either way. That is just pointing out the obvious. You are solving a mystery, the universe, with an even bigger mystery, a creator. Everything came from nothing is a religious assertion. The universe was a vacuum prior to the first cause, that is not 'nothing'. The universe is not perfect for human life, neither is the majority of earth.
Pomaori 5 months ago
@Pomaori must be true and the others are false.
LPD31314 5 months ago
@LPD31314 On the question of where did all life come from. You are essentially talking about two different scientific theories. Evolution is an explanation for the diversity of life on the planet. How life changes once it exists. What you are referring to is abiogenesis, which is the study of how organic life rose from inorganic matter. Even if all the science is wrong; what reason do you have to believe in god ? It doesn't win by default, the god theory has a burden of proof too
Pomaori 5 months ago
@javalenzy Actually the idea that we are merely preparing for an "afterlife" would constitute more transience than the belief that we have only this existence. As far as "atheists say apes are their ancestors"- a lot of believers say this too- because this is what evidence leads to, which I'm glad you at least acknowledge yet ignore. Which brings about the next point on reasoning and ignorance- you've admitted to ignoring evidence. Guess what... that's unreasonable and ignorant. learn to spell.
acdelong 5 months ago
@acdelong i dont think so,it appears u dont even understand evolution itself,no evidence of organism moving from one species to another has been found, all u have are full creatures.that makes the theory baseless.again just putting cells in a test tube will never form organisms this is ridiculously impossible.science will continue to bring more evidence of a Creator.the DNA itself is evidence. Atheists shut their mind and offer us baseless isms.u follow richard darkwins who is confused.
javalenzy 5 months ago
@acdelong do u actually believed dinosaurs lived 65m years ago?thats ridiculous, why did they all die and other organisms remain?atheism just dont make any sense they are just speculative, baseless and confused without hope.how do u think ur finite brain will comprehend All Things (who is GOD).tell me how consciousness and love came to be?are they chemical reactions?the modern atheist is not ready for Truth.wat i see in atheists is fear, hopelessness, unhappiness.can u fight the wind?
javalenzy 5 months ago
@javalenzy I can hardly believe that you're for real, you're poeing me. there is no way that a person with access to the internet could be making the logical fallacies, the complete lack of reply to my actual assertions and the incoherent gobbledygook that you're guilty of here. Speciation is a man-made construct, we do see it in both the fossil record and in the current world because that's what happens when there is a transition in morphology and sexual selection. you are cracking me up!
acdelong 5 months ago
@acdelong u make me laugh indeed, u re wishing there is no Creator, evolution is the only thing u hold, but again thats baseless becos there are still no evidence found for transitions.ur heart is hardened by the Visible Ignorance u have accepted from ur master darwkins.science will continue to point to GOD.if u wana get drunk in the doctrine of darwkin go ahead.if the human anatomy and DNA does not point u to GOD then u re most miserable.modern atheists are the greatest Fools ever lived on earth
javalenzy 5 months ago
@javalenzy "whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." Matthew 5:22. I would have to argue that given your violation of your chosen magical belief that we will be in hell together. At least I'm not contradicting myself or reality when I point out that your a fool. so far we've covered the fact that you don't know shit about the following: spelling, grammar, evolution, logic, neuroscience, word definitions, religion, the bible, earth history, capitalization rules & comedy.

@javalenzy Oh! what? no reply when you get called out for violating your own magic book? what would jesus say if he existed and saw how easily you gave up!?
acdelong 5 months ago
@javalenzy yes, dinosaurs existed, we know this because of evidence. Species go extinct all the time without other species going extinct- we witness this. And on to your next ramble- yes I do have hope, hope that my children grow up to be the intelligent free people that we raise them to be and hope that somehow I can make the world a better place for them and everyone else. You ask many questions, tell me please how you know what sky-dad is like and what he/she wants?

@acdelong Yes u said what if God is a Muslim. And now im telling you he is not a muslim.
MrUrosSrb 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb Oh! okay! I was posing a logical question which defeats pascal's wager by showing that is a false dichotomy. I'm glad you and the creator of the whole universe are such good bros. could you introduce us? I mean since you know everything about him then you must be able to prove his existence, right kiddo? I know god isn't a muslim, because he doesn't exist, so he's not a muslim, he's not a goldfish and he's not a tea cozy... And you're in no position to make unfounded assertions.
acdelong 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb furthermore, I'm getting the sense that you don't realize how many religions christianity "ripped off", one could easily say that christianity ripped off judaism and using your logic, that would invalidate christianity, so... eaten any shrimp lately my young hell bound friend?
acdelong 4 months ago
@acdelong Christianity didnt steal nothing. All Zeitgeist arguments have been refuted.Judaism prophesies Jesus in book of Daniel,i think. So Christianity is just a continuement of Judaism.Your claims would be different if u actually wanted to open a tiny possibilty that God does truly exist..
MrUrosSrb 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb Firstly, I love your use of the double negative, it actually makes you correct. following is a short list of aspects of christian doctrine which existed in religions older than christianity: virgin birth, messianic prophecy fulfillment, death and resurrection of human form deity, son of god figure, miracle of the fishes, heaven, hell, satan, creation myth, noah's ark. I could go on but I am limited in length. Do you mean Zeitgeist the movie? do you think atheism started with that?!?!
acdelong 4 months ago
@acdelong I never said that Atheism started with Zeitgeist either,i just said that Zeitgeist actually says that Christianity took virgin birth, and resurrection concept form other religions, and that it was refuted already.Dont put words that i didnt say in my mouth please.
MrUrosSrb 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb umm, if by putting words in your mouth you mean asking you a question... with three question marks, I may add, then how do you expect me to be able to ask any questions? Oops! that was a question right? Oops! that was another word I put in your mouth! Don't get defensive, just answer the questions or admit that you don't have an answer. I'm not putting any words in your mouth when I ask you to elaborate. So are you prepared to defend your bible or are you just gonna try to bullshit?
acdelong 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb Also, what refutation of previously extant religions are you talking about? I don't give a good god damn about what movie you think this theory stems from, but it is a known fact that messianic myth has been attached to multiple religions before the time that jesus supposedly existed. What crank are you citing? reference something please. And who was joseph's daddy? you still searching for an apologetic on that one? how about this: what were jesus' last words? that's a fun one too!
acdelong 4 months ago
@acdelong See,example is Mithra,Right.First similarity they find with Mithra and Jesus,is that both are of virgin birth-thats refuted-Mithra was born from a Rock,Rock isnt a virgin, its a rock.Secondly they try to say that that rock is similar to Cave were Jesus was born-newsflash he wanst born in a cave, those stories originated later, and finally Mithra didnt resurrect,he just killed a bull.Happy now?All atheist have the same questions that are easily refutable.
MrUrosSrb 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb Wow, so who's putting words in who's mouth now? did I mention Mithra? Actually yes, I am happy before, and now but not due to your straw-man arguing. Can you please find and quote where I mentioned Mithra? I'll bet even money that you can't! So, because you know a set of facts about one "atheist" argument, then "All atheist have the same questions that are easily refutable."... Do know how simple that makes you sound kiddo? That's the least sophisticated argument possible
acdelong 4 months ago
@acdelong Mithra was just an example to disprove your claims about Christianity taking its ideas from the religions before it.Same with Osiris, a deeper look can really tell u that those accusations are false.I dont want to start any wars here, but what are you doing on youtube talking about someone who (in your mind)doesnt exist, wouldnt u have better things to do,then argue about something that is (as you say) unexistant.
MrUrosSrb 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb But you've debunked nothing because I've asked you for references of your asssertions and you've followed with more assertions, just because you say something doesn't mean I have to believe you- you believe in talking snakes, unicorns and zombies after all. So put a link here, there are many more religions that make claims than the ones you're mentioning, which is why I didn't mention any specific religion but instead called your understanding simple and unsophisticated, so reference!
acdelong 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb And on to to your question about why I'm ripping you a new pooper. It's because people who believe in snakes that talk and unicorns and zombies talk and talk and try to shame people and make assertions that they feel they aren't obligated to back up... like what you've done here! And let us try to think way back to who decided to challenge who here. You tried to play smart guy and as it turns out, you're just another little wilting flower like the rest of the christian "soldiers"
acdelong 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb Oh and- Joseph's daddy? Jeezo's last words??? nothing? don't want to acknowledge the contradiction? thats very dishonest, you're bearing false witness- sinner!
acdelong 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb As far as the book of daniel goes, yes there are prophesies that judaism acknowledges that it made, but making a prophesy is the easy part, fulfilling it is the impressive part and good luck proving that ever happened! Why don't you ask some jews if christianity is a continuance (the word you were looking for) of judaism, I think you'll be surprised how little respect your little messiah gets among his own kind. I don't have anything against the concept of a god, there's just no proof
acdelong 4 months ago
@MrUrosSrb wait! are you also implying that the bible has no contradictions?! Jumpin jesus on a jack off stick, I hope so! this should be funny! There are hundreds of internal contradictions in the bible!

(cont)

Mattyb88ful 6 months ago

@Seigu007
"you God-Haters"
To which god are you referring? The Muslim god? The Christian god? The Hindu gods?
"fastened yourselves in the loser’s seatbelt."
How so?

@Mattyb88ful You hate God ,and that’s what drives you here.
Why aren’t you over on the flying spaghetti monster forum tirading againg them?
I’ll tell you why,it’s because you are what’s called a “scared believer”.
A hypocrite that wears the mark on his sleeve like an open wound.
The only person you’re kidding here is yourself.

""You hate God ,and that’s what drives you here.""
-- No, I just have a problem with stupid/religious people like you who are not content with believing superstitious crap but wish to impose it on other people.
