For the Joystick: "Dow Molykote 44". It's silicone, safe for plastics (unlike petroleum-based products), and sold by arcade outfits specifically for joystick parts. You can find a 1 oz. size on ebay at a decent price. Whatever you buy though, just be sure it's a synthetic (silicone).
Every credit to you mate, going your own way will be far more satisfying. Would be good to see a video diary of your progress, if you get the chance :)
Great pick ups Daz. You were lucky to get a boxed joystick, they don't tend to appear that often on ebay. The 'supervised' comment made me laugh. Have a look at turnarcades for flat packs or ready made shells, they'll be at r3play again in November. Looking forward to see what you've done with your games room too.
@1NorthernOutpost Hey mate, yeah getting the box too was a nice bonus. :) I've looked at some pre-built arcade machines and kits - even though it's a lot of work I kinda want to go through building one myself, for shits 'n' giggles if nothing else; who knows what the damn thing will end up looking like. :D
Awesome pickups man! KOF's series is ace isn't it, atm only have '97 but enjoy it all the same. Bet you'll be having plenty of great co-op action and don't be afraid giving your oponent the duff one, HAHA!!! Look forward watching your Mame cab develop. Been thinking about this m'self, think if it ever happens i'll pay a guy i know to build it for me. Honestly mate my DIY skills suck big time. Enjoyed checking out your new stuff anyway Daz, cool! :D
@MENDEZ1628 Hey mate. :) KOF is pretty damn good and 87 is next on the list. :)
Hehe well mate I don't blame you for not building one yourself but I'm pretty noobish at DIY stuff but I'm going to give it a go as a bit of a challenge and see what it turns out like, lol.
@Drexus80 Wish you all the best with your Mame proj' mate anyway. Look forward seeing progress down the line. I have a feelin' you'll suprise yourself & it'll turn out pretty cool. Daz!.."KOF '87"? Do you remember the original Street Fighter, think that was released in '87. It was poo! :D
Great to see you back Daz :) Nice set of pickups dude, looking forward to seeing the other room :) Great idea making a cab, can you get help from your dad? Dad's are great for building a Mame cab lol
@Snestastic Cheers mate. :) Calling it 'another room' is probably a little much lol, but I'll show it soon for sure.
If my dad helped with the cab it would probably be even worse mate, lol, at least with just me building it there's only 1 person to screw it up lol. :)
@Drexus80 lol well either way Daz i'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out :) lol i'm sure you'll be fine dude, just take your time and i'm sure you'll create a crackin cab. Have you began to design it?
@Snestastic I'll definitely be taking my time on the cab, it's the only chance it'll not be a complete mess, lol. As for design, just thinking about shape and features at the moment then I'll plan out some designs and maybe make a model; if it turns out anything like yours then I can't go far wrong. :)
@Drexus80 Nice one Daz, my dad did the same thing, built a cardboard model to get the idea right and went from there. There are plenty of sites online that give you plans for building a cab as well and provide all the measurements. We used one and modified it too our own specifications :)
@craigsheree Too true. :) The weight and size of that carts help to convince me all that money spent each time was definitely well spent! lol jk, but it's cool that they're a little different to most other formats out there. :)
@1UPGameOver I picked it up off ebay actually, although I had to search worldwide and most seemed to be listed under neo geo 'stick' rather than 'joystick' for some reason.
They seem to come up fairly often so hopefully it wont take you too long to track down a couple. :D

Cool video, the joystick looks mint, knob cracking cant be helped, it just seems to happen with them :)
Great games as well, it makes me smile every time I see a neo geo cart, you really do seem to get something for your money.

cool man, and i bet those sticks are the best build quality you can get when it comes to joysticks!

@cyanidebreathmintz Hey mate, yeah they're pretty nifty, a bit loose around the buttons but I'll forgive 'em for that. ;)

I am always in awe when I see a video featuring a NEO GEO joystick! It is so aesthetically pleasing to the eye!
segagenesis1989 7 months ago
@segagenesis1989 Sure is, they knew how to build 'em back then. :)

Can I ask you where did you got it from? I'm trying to buy a pair of those for my consolized MVS. There's none on ebay at the moment :(
Great video BTW. ;)
