  • Is there a version of this without all the talking over Martins part???

  • Martin Will Get In! FACT....

  • First its NELSON MANDELA now its MARY MC ALEESE - who next are the Shinners going to try and put Mc Guinnness next to - this is getting evem more rediculous. MC Guinness is a baby killing terrorist scumbag !!!

  • @KeithD194 please explain to me the difference between Mandela and McGuinness? ... what is it, that Mandela got caught!

  • @godbrother10 OK this is really pathetic now. You even arguing that their any similarity between Mandela and McGuinness is laughable and doing your McGuinness' campaign no favours at all.

Also there certainly no comparison himself and McAleese. She did pick up a shot gun a murder innocent people. Or put bombs on buses, trains and schools. McGuinness is a terrorist, plain and simple.

  • @KeithD194 I never compared the lives of McAlesse and McGuinness - I mearly highlighted that the negative campaigning that has been waged on McGuinness was also inflicted on McAleese - and yet she turned out to be a great president, as in my opinion McGuinness would also be. However this is by-the-by ...

... you have failed to answer my question - WHAT exactley is the difference between Mandela and McGuinness? if it is so "laughable" please explain to me what differs?

  • @godbrother10 Look mate,I admire your support for Mc Guinness. The yanks will love it if he gets elected, and Fine Gael will absolutely detest it. I like the shinners and even gave them no:1 in the GE. But martin isnt right. He's hiding his IRA past. They should have out gerry forward and put martin in his seat in Louth for the dail, would have had a much bigger impact. Im not gonna argue the similarities with mandela, but I do accept that if elected, its a concept that could easily catch on.

  • @KeithD194 don't fool yourself - if Gerry had stood it'd be the same story - he'd be asked about the McConville case, bloody friday and the rest. Martin is unable to tell the full story - there is no general amnesty for those involved in the Troubles and if he were to tell he'd face prosecution - the peace process doesnt need that.

Whatever about Martin's past you may disagree with - what he and a lot of other great leaders like him DID do was create another way forward.

  • @godbrother10 Gerry certainly doesnt have as much baggage as Martin about his IRA past. I dont know about the North, in the Souh and UK McGuinness will always be seen as an IRA thug and in fairness to them man, he's an aul fella with grankids now! He's simply not being open about his IRA past. I detest the IRA and what they did but I will not tar Sinn Fein with the same brush. Martin holds up well under scrutinity which you have to stand in awe of, I dont accept that he getting treated unfairly!

  • @KeithD194 I understand and respect your point. However to many Gerry is an IRA thug so ...

What I see is a concerted campaign by the "powers that be" because they fear McGuinness because he is no yes man. The medias coverage of him has been wholly hostile

You are completely entitled to hold your view of the IRA. Personally, I can't judge an 18-year old who when he saw a foreign army walking his streets, shooting his neighbors and ransacking his neighborhood - took up arms to fight back.

  • If Martin McGuinness comes clean about his past he will be sent to prison. The fact is that no general amnesty has been granted for offences committed during the Troubles.

He claims to have left the IRA in 1974 because that was the year he was imprisoned by Dublin's Central Criminal Court for 12 months for IRA membership. Double jeopardy rules mean that he can't be tried again for the same offence.

  • Vote Martin McGuinness #1

  • I urge all PEOPLE of Ireland, Vote for Martin McGuiness. Vote for the lost Irish people still under British Occupation. A step towards a united Ireland. A united Ireland is a the only solution to a peaceful and economic resurgent Ireland. 2016 Referendum. We are nearer a United ireland than ever. The one Collins & Connolly dared to dream off. Dont be an ignorant Irish citizen by listening to British propaganda. VOTÁIL Martin le do thóil. EIRE ABU

  • @jimmyworkman Vote Martin! Vote for an united Ireland, which the president cannot ensure!! vote for a united ireland when northern Ireland have clearly stated they wish to stay part of britian! Vote for blindsidedly making people do things they democratically decide they don't want to do!!

  • @Clisare "blindsidedly making people do things they democratically decide they don't want to do" perculiar ... that would be a perfect breif evaluation of the formation of the state "northen Ireland" ...

  • @Clisare ; Im Belfast Born and Bred, Served MY NATION with two tours in Lebanon. Carry an Irish Passport, Irish Driving Licence and pay PRSI all from Belfast. I WANT A VOTE FOR MY PRESIDENT. If I grew up in McGuinness area Id have happily lifted a gun to fight back. Our Island is a joke,. Its emabarrsing going to Dublin these days and people under the age of 30 havent a clue about the north let alone the history of teh island. MONEY MONEY MONEY. 1.7 million in the norrth; 850000 nationalists.

  • @jimmyworkman I'm catholic, live in the north (nationalist area), support Republic football team (and everything irish)..but in no way could i (or anyone in the north) say we are the same as the irish in the south. Its delusional and sentimental to think so. We are a British/Irish hybrid

When i cross the border i feel i'm in a different country, different mentality, one i know little about...the result of 90 years of partition. McGuiness was talking nonsense saying Derry was as Irish as Cork

  • @Ali74

As someone in your exact position, bar the specific location of my birth, I feel the same way when I routinely travel from my home county of Meath to Donegal. That's Irish culture for you buachaill! But Donegal isn't in a different country. So am I 'the same' as those in Donegal, Dublin, Cork or Galway? No I'm not the same, but we're all Irish. I think about it like this sometimes - Oranges, Pears, Apples, they're all different sure, but they're still all Fruit. I await your reply.

  • @marmaladekamikaze Donegal is as irish as Meath. There may be slight differences (especially in regards to Donegal which is a unique case with it being further north than even my own county) but the culture is the same, the politics is the same, mentality is the same

Its very different when you cross the border, our lives are completely different. Southern irish are more friendly, in the north we are hardened due to what we've had to face for 90 years. Southeners are very different people

  • @Ali74

I have a friend from Tyrone who is as sound as they come, I think you are maybe creating a false dichotomy for yourself. The only glaring difference I notice over the border is that I consistently get stopped and harassed by a paramilitary force who search my car while they point a loaded submachine gun at my head. It must be because of my southern car registration. I keep on lodging complaints against them, because they're never goin to stop me visiting friends.

  • @marmaladekamikaze 90 years of partition has created a very real dichotomy. To deny this is naive and sentimental. The attitudes of the north and the south are very different. We are two culturally different people, two different countries (unfortunately). That being said that i would support a southern team over a northern one (Republic over NI, Muster/Leinster over Ulster). Nothing gave me greater joy when Alan McLoughlin scored the crucial goal in 1993 to sicken the bigots in Windsor Park.

  • @Ali74

Mary McAleese did a great job of being President and representing the 26 counties at home and abroad, but according to you, she is culturally not the same as those in the 26 counties, and she is from a different 'country'. The Border is imaginary Ali, it doesn't really exist.

  • @jimmyworkman Poor Marty couldnt get enough people to vote for him or get enough people of there arses to vote for him over the border.. Thats life.... he now back making British Rule work in Northern Ireland... Fair Play

  • McGuinness for President, you'll never beat the Irish.

  • Eoghan Harris admitted he was wrong about Mary McAleese: In 2010 he wrote, "I was sceptical of her at the start, but I soon came to see what most Northern Protestants see too: a warm, caring woman who has taken the best from Roman Catholicism and reached out to the best in Northern Protestantism. I wish she had a third term to take us through this terrible time."

  • @padraic2001eire a vote for martin is a step closer to total peace on this amazing island

  • @flipper183 Aren't we already at peace? Last I checked the Provisional IRA and UVF weren't up to much, and dissident republicans have only managed to kill two policemen and two soldiers since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement 13 years ago.

  • @padraic2001eire there is also drug wars between certain organisations leading to countless deaths so no were not at total peace

  • @flipper183 I agree, but I honestly don't see how electing Martin McGuinness will help solve that. Not being argumentative here, I just don't see the connection.

  • @padraic2001eire it wont solve your average gangster but will put an end to dissidents and counterparts if ireland is eventually re-united after all thats what the cause is.....which would then end the reason for groups like r.i.r.a and c.i.r.a to exist also martin is known on the world stage and his work is also recognised too hes a great face of this country just like he says lol hes a peoples person
