I have a question (kpop fan dicovering jpop): does anyone know if j-pop groups like NEWS or any group do the "training sistem" (companies train them for some years in dance, singing, languages) like they do with k-pop groups? I'm really curious and I can't find information anywhere!! and they can dance and sing well, so..

@launamberuanxD i'm pretty sure there are agencies like that in japan(avex) but johnny's entertainment is different. . JE is entertainment based; the trainees audition and if they pass they get jobs like photoshoots, background dancing, acting etc. they give them jobs to see what they're good at . if you show potential in singing and dancing you're put into a group and u maybe debut Your success rate is based off of your raw talent. trainees aka johnny jrs have their own show: shounen club.

@launamberuanxD exile has a training system and even though they're part of avex they have their own system/company in it. they mostly do dancing (intense dancing). boy group are mostly a je thing they have over a thousand trainees. for jpop news livejournal is your friend trust me.

@lovetvxqforever22 lolz no. trainee doesn't equal singer only. first thing first, to become a trainee you must get call backs. you might pass the audition but if they don't give u work your nothing.work: magazines eg "wink up" and if they seem marketable they get drama roles or put on shonen club(Johnny Jimusho variety show). trainees can become models, actors, stage performers, singers etc depends on what they can do.

@launamberuanxD Hihi yup it's whatever kim said..to add on a bit... JE trainees are all called Johnny's Juniors (their company ONLY has guys btw, unlike Korea) and they all kinda HAVE to learn dancing cos they start off backdancing for all the debuted groups. It's quite amazing if you think about it cos they literally have to learn tons of different dances which aren't even their own songs. After they debut, though, no more of that.

I have one last question and I leave you alone xD I got to know Yamapi because he sang in a music progam in korea, named M Countdown.. so I was wandering if in japan they have those kind of music programs for jpop idols to promote their songs. There are four programs like that: basically the shows are like a "battle of bands", groups and solo artists perfom their songs in different stages of their own and then one of them wins a prize.

they have a program called MUSIC STATION annnnnddd...something else haha.

but this isn't like the korean music programs - no one wins (at least not from my memory) an award. it's just basically a concert.
