the dead sea scrolls have nothing to do with christianity really. Its placing oral history of the jews down on writing. It does conincide with the time of jesus but that is all i see there. There is no mention of jesus anywhere in the ancient text. That might be why the christians came up with their own bible.

I read a book called Dead Sea Scrolls Uncovered and it mentions some of the Genesis account being altered. It is hard to know the truth. Jesus wasn't even the name of the savior yet the church doesn't want to talk about what it really was.

I would have an easier time believing that what they(christian scholars) translated is what was written in scrolls if there were more then one neutral party. To any atheist or deist the evidence looks the same as the bible. We should belive it just because the church says it is what it is. The significance is that all of the Old Testament books were discovered in these scrolls accept for the book of Esther. Through textural critisim we find that the only difference in translation to the Bible is the word light and a few verbs. It shows that the Old Testament Prophesies in the Bible are pretty much dead on with their translations. There is also a piece of the book of Matthew. This shows that the Bible hasn't been tampered with as much as non-believers would have you think.
They show some really different things, and some of them are "gospels" possibly, which would mean that many gospels were discarded, but that is already a well known fact as the bible was voted on what scriptures to have or not to have during a conference in the Roman empire.

The mystics and scribes went to the dead sea in 150-100bc when the Rabbi's were closing the prophet schools in 100bc. They saw the writing on the wall. They were not Essenes, they were followers of the Isaiah prophet mystery school.

the dead sea scrolls have nothing to do with christianity really. Its placing oral history of the jews down on writing. It does conincide with the time of jesus but that is all i see there. There is no mention of jesus anywhere in the ancient text. That might be why the christians came up with their own bible.

If it ever came out that christianity was false with irrefutable evidence, there would be a massive backlash, the suicide rate would increase, riots would be nation wide, and possibly even war would break out. Not to mention a lot of egos would be crushed. Maybe its better to let the people live in their deluded state. Christianity kinda keeps them at bay and reserved. Their minds arent ready for the truth. As for the rest of us we will learn out the constraints of religion.

I read a book called Dead Sea Scrolls Uncovered and it mentions some of the Genesis account being altered. It is hard to know the truth. Jesus wasn't even the name of the savior yet the church doesn't want to talk about what it really was.

I'm a christian and I go by the tanach(hebrew bible) because the christian old testament has changed some words for their way. second you are right about Jesus, the messianic Jews that have accepted Jesus as the mesiah call him Yeshua(which is his name in the hebrew translation) he also is emmanuel. but to me it doesn't really matter either way my belief is he is the annoited one and that's basically means Jesus Christ.

I would have an easier time believing that what they(christian scholars) translated is what was written in scrolls if there were more then one neutral party. To any atheist or deist the evidence looks the same as the bible. We should belive it just because the church says it is what it is. And the only agnostic that was part of the translation process was shunned and ridiculed and was told to keep the findings to himself for many years. Shocker.

For a religiously unbiased translation of the Dead Sea Scrolls, people might be interested in John Marco Allegro's work. (The ONLY agnostic on the the official team of translators).
Check out the very controversial book called: The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross.
This book was responsible for ruining his career. Not because it was false but rather because it did not comply with the complete BS they (the different religions) want us to blindly accept.
Read and make up your own mind.

Why do people seem to take some mystical meaning from the dead sea scrolls? Is it just because of the cool sounding name? Because it sounds to me like they're mostly interesting historical documents with slight relevance to various religious factions. Or do they prophesy the apocalypse or something. The significance is that all of the Old Testament books were discovered in these scrolls accept for the book of Esther. Through textural critisim we find that the only difference in translation to the Bible is the word light and a few verbs. It shows that the Old Testament Prophesies in the Bible are pretty much dead on with their translations. There is also a piece of the book of Matthew. This shows that the Bible hasn't been tampered with as much as non-believers would have you think.

They show some really different things, and some of them are "gospels" possibly, which would mean that many gospels were discarded, but that is already a well known fact as the bible was voted on what scriptures to have or not to have during a conference in the Roman empire.

Pretty good video except for at 2:47. The voice over claimed the "immersion in water as a symbol of the washing away of sins." They were correct when they were talking about ritual purity, but incorrect in that regard. Remission of sin Baptism was not an Essene (or Qumran sectarian) belief or practice.

No, the leader of the Essenes was not the Messiah. The Essenes were awaiting the Messiah - and from the Dead Sea Scrolls we know they were expecting two Messiahs which they did not believe had come or was their leader.
