I had to listen to some good ol' '60's Hank Marr, I havn't done done that since some time, and, yes, the bass line concept is quite similar to those two songs. My inspiration for this kind of 'pumping' bass line comes not from Marr though, but instead from Jimmy Smith's 1960 recording of 'Back at the Chicken Shack'.
Which reminds me that I really have to get my chops together and record a better version of chicken shack. My first try was lousy. Oh, well...
Cool stuff Rounder, I like it. It reminds me of Booker T. Jones' stuff. Speaking of which, I am doing Green Onions in a music performance soon. Keep up the good work, you might get offered a job at a local restaurant, get locally famous, and then things could get better from there I hope.
You can have the best of both worlds: keep your jazz axe and complement with the jazz organ :-)
Easy choice: the Electro 3 because it is vastly superior when it comes to the other sounds it has to offer, piano, mellotrone, etc.
But still: I highly recommend you to go for a two manual keyboard. If you check out my videos you will see that I use quite a number of techniques that require two manuals: slides, 'thumps', call & response, etc.
@rounder2u thanks for the tips! but two manual keyboards are so expensive! do you think I should try to get a used nord c-1? or are there any other good keyboards out there?
Save up for a used C1. You get a top quality B-3 clonewheel with a top Leslie sim, and also a Farfisa and a Vox in the same package. As the C1 is out of production since some time, second hand prices must be dropping.
Or if you can find yourself a used XK-33 (dual manual). It's good.
Then you also have the KeyB Duo, but I know little about it. Maybe worth checking it out.
In my full-length version of 'The Cat' I use a number of dual manual techniques.

The bass line concept in your last two uploads is quite similar to Hank Marr's "Greasy Spoon" and "Silver Spoon". Great stuff!

To my utter amazement I see that, as of writing this Apr 8, 2011, 'Total Upload Views' have passed the one million mark.
How on earth could this happen? Must be a YouTube glitch... :-)
My heartfelt thanks goes to all of you giving my videos some of your time.

Hi trinity
1) Practice only the left hand, until it's fully ingrained. The left hand is The Boss.
2) Start adding the right hand.
3) Have fun :-)
