Like Secret Service, the programme has moments of such ludicrous, dislocated inanity (eg. the puppet inexplicably 'pulling' the church bell in sight of the priest), that it becomes almost nightmarish. Which, to me, is marvellous. But I don't like the car or the boat. If Mike Trim indeed designed them, as I read somewhere, his form's well down since his glory days on Scarlet and 90. Still, it only adds to the sense of TV so bad it breaks the trash barrier and becomes golden entertainment!
Fancy Far-Out!! I thought that the only Supermarionation series Gerry Anderson did after THE SECRET SERVICE was ALIEN ATTACK in 1977. Loved hearing the voices of JEFF TRACY, (Peter Dyneley,)as the Investigator, JOHN TRACY,(Shane Rimmer)as John, and LADY PENELOPE,(Sylvia Anderson,) as Julie. The car they drove around Malta in looks like a souped-up FAB 1! And I loved seeing the puppets actually out in open air for a change!... Crime-fighting, to the tune of an early '70's "Wuka-Wuka" guitar...
Erm - Gerry Anderson *didn't* make a Supermarionation series called Alien Attack in 1977. In 1979, ITC London released a movie-length compilation of two episodes of his 1974 live-action series Space:1999 which was called "Alien Attack".
@boffinme80 John's puppet was reused for the JIF Desert topping advert in 1977, which made use of both John & Julie's puppets, in which Ed Bishop provided the voice for the character the John puppet was playing. I don't know why you question it, because theres no misidentifying Shane Rimmer's voice
@thebladezmanII Ed Bishop and Shane Rimmer sound fairly similar. That's why I questioned it. Also John is a similar model to Captain Blue who Ed Bishop voiced.
absolutely superb........why do we put a b on the end of super.......weird and wonderful

The Jif Topping 30 second TV Commercial was actually called Alien Attack too (made in 1977), this might be what they mean.

Cheap and corny? Yes...but it was very unique and interesting. Especially the voices...all Thunderbirds vets.
