FYI: The video is not done by or with Peta.
And I believe the point that was being made was that in the way society treats animals (unjustly and cruelly) mirrors the same way years ago society mistreated women and people of colour.
What they are saying is that society is wrong in this mentality, just as they have been wrong in the past. People keep making the same mistakes only to realize years later how horrible they were and how wrong.
