Will DuVall uses "y's" and "eee's" too much. Other than that, I think he's awesome and definitely a fitting replacement. Nobody can replace Layne permanently, but he about as good as it could get.
I don't know why maybe it's his microphone but when Duvall sings any kinda high note, his voice sounds compressed and put into a small plastic container and it sounds ontop of the rest of the band.

@corinthian93 I completley agree, im not gonna hate on anyone but in my honest opinion if jerry and the guys wanted to go on they should have at least renamed the band and if they wanted to perform old AIC songs then fine but they are not alice in chains no more and nobody should try to follow in Layne's footsteps because it's not the same.

I don't hate duvall, he has talent as a vocalist, but as an Alice in Chains vocalist he just can't cut it. Layne Staley was and still is the only vocalist for AIC other than Jerry

@Feedek I have heard Duvall do this better - he is kind of hoarse here. I have a lot of respect for how hard this song is to sing and Will does pretty well most of the time. And as much as Layne is my favorite singer, by 1996 Layne couldn't sing this song anymore either...

@TheStewbeedoo His singing on Rock am ring 2006 was poor, but in 2010 he was much better, I hope he will be better and better.I love AiC and Duvall now is the part of this band, in my opinion they could have a better vocalist like Anselmo, Duvall voice is like Jerry voice, pretty light, like clean effect on a guitar, now in AiC we have clean and clean voice, when Layne sang with Jerry it was distortion and clean ;) But it was in a past and it will be never back, I wish all the best for AiC.

Alice in Chains rock on!!! Those of you that have a problem with William Duvall need to fuck off, what happened was long ago and Layne is dead, the rest of the band chose William Duvall not as a replacement but as an addition to the band. Face it, you guys need to move on from Layne's death because the rest of the band moved on without you haters. Layne would have probably been proud that the band moved on without him.

I seen them at the mohegan sun arena in wilkes barre early this year and i gotta say that william did a great job...I feel the same way everyone does...that no one can replace layne just ac/dc fans did back then...he's no layne but after that show i truly have respect for william cuz he did a fantastic job doing the old songs...

Will DuVall uses "y's" and "eee's" too much. Other than that, I think he's awesome and definitely a fitting replacement. Nobody can replace Layne permanently, but he about as good as it could get.

I don't know why maybe it's his microphone but when Duvall sings any kinda high note, his voice sounds compressed and put into a small plastic container and it sounds ontop of the rest of the band.

@izakguitar Agreed, I think Duvall really delivers as AIC's new frontman. I think he is great. AIC fans that long for the day of Layne need to deal with the fact that even tho he was a great composer of lyrics and a top notch singer, the man was crippled by emotional issues and drug abuse. Do we all miss Layne-of coarse-but he engaged in behaivor that led to his own demise. He basically murdered himself. The band has dealt with the loss-now everyone else needs to too. Keep rockin AIC.
