  • Heard it at the hospital today...had totally forgotten how much I loved this song in High School. Nice to be reminded. It's still a great song.

  • I love this video. Every time this song comes up in my music library, I have to find and watch the video on youtube. XD

  • this song made my day =)

  • John Howard hit #17 in Billboard, 12-20-86. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • howard=god

  • Reminds me of famliy guy when he gets pulled into the milk cartons ha.

  • Howard Jones = 80s.

  • I don't care how old and cheesy this song may sound to our new generation but i just ADORE THIS SONG TO PIECES!!!!! it always puts me in the greatest mood ever...well, besides my baby Liam.. U NO I LOVE YOU, DON'T YOU? ;) <3

  • I love how fluid the bassline is on the chorus. To think that most of this was done with keyboards.....

  • the style of this video reminds me of Ah ha TAKE ON ME...

    the drawn type feel yeah?

  • @tunstead88 There's a hint of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" thrown in as well, with the stop-motion animation.

  • I wonder if there will be remasters of One to One and Cross that Line like there is with Human's Lib, Dream into Action, 12" Album, and Action Replay.

If so I wonder what stuff he will put on the bonus disc.

  • Today is his birthday, great video!

  • Wow, I haven't seen this video in 20 yrs. Thanks for posting it!!

  • Awesome

  • Long live the 80`s....

  • Funniest clip ever!

  • @n8tureboy ~ That's the answer I was hoping for ~ "We'll stick together thru' the smooth and the rough"!!

    Damn

    LOUD

  • I recently heard this song on Sirius XM's 80's channel. It was the first time I heard it in over 20 years. I like Howard Jones' songs, but I find this one to be his best. Listening to it numerous times as a teenager in the 80's put me in a happy mood as I was dealing with the struggles of high school. Too bad great music like this isn't made nowadays. I remember seeing this video on NBC's Friday Night Videos. It's one of the more innovative music videos.

  • This my favorite song of howard jones

  • I generally prefer it when my wpmen transform into giant crayons.

  • genial video

Grande maestro JOnes ,muy placido jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

  • genial video

    Grande maestro JOnes ,muy placido

  • Second song from his set Oct. 16 5:15 EPCOT which was unfortunately delayed by a technical problem. A 9v battery dying in a foot pedal for his keyboard. He was embarrassed, but, as a classic English gentleman, he kept his dignity and stiff chin.

  • I think this was late 1986...

  • @rollprogramhouston It makes sense. I feel confident that this was on the Billboard charts around Christmas 1986.

  • i don't like it...80's are crap...sry :)

  • @flacdance

To say a specific era is crap, is quite odd.

It's all in your personal opinion. You could simply say "I dislike the 80s" or something along those lines. Some people DO like the 80s(me included). But I realize some don't , and that is their opinion, and I have mine. Also, what is REAL music, is all in ones view.

When rock first started, classical people said "This isn't real music" when pop came out rock fans said "this isn't REAL music". To each his own.

  • @Godscarmachine

You seem to be very sensible, Rare these days.................

  • It's Howard's masterpiece.

  • Who is this woman on 0:44?

  • Wow!!! Another jewel from the eighties!!! Thanks a lot.

  • Are u mad??Listen to some of the crap from the 80s cause there was tons of it!!!

  • i always thought he was cute and a real genius <3

  • Ht #17 pop, #46 rock in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg It got as high as 43 in the UK charts in '86 - first of HoJo's singles not to reach the top 40 (he hasn't been in it since) - Great song though !!

  • @mikmax66 Yet this song did better in the US - reaching #17 there, if I am not mistaken. Howard Jones would have one or two more hits in the US top 40 after this one - with 1989's #12 hit Everlasting Love (the video with the mummies) and maybe one last hit in 1992. Man, how I miss the 1980s so much, but the hits of the 21st century are probably the next best thing, IMO.

  • One To One was severely underrated. It was a brilliant return to form for HoJo after his second album which I can't even remember the name of, which was lacking in synths, and that had lyrics about the horrors of abbatoirs and other idealogical stuff.

  • I love elettrorock!!!

  • Welcome back to 86. Wasn't it freaking awesome back in high school? ;-)

  • @juliadennehy Class of 1986, whoop :-)

  • I had this song in my head for a long time and couldn't fiqure out who sung it. glad I found it! exellent!!

  • what a great song, people cant write songs these days all covers and shit

  • nice synthbass ! logical & cleaver song

  • LOVE the bass line!!

  • MY FAV HOJO CUT!

  • Hit #17 in Billboard. How'd it do in the UK?

  • This is a KICKASS song... haven't heard it in ages!

HOJO is pure brilliant & a master... was way ahead of his time!!!

    Saw him live 3 times ( 85, 86, 87)

  • aawe!! this songs reminds me of my childhood!!! great video... A-ha -like:) xx

  • Thanks for putting this up - Howard J is excelllent! Peter

  • The last time I saw this video is back when I was in grade school!!! I really miss this video!!! =)

  • I was paralyzed by this song when i was 11

  • i love it walking out of the studio, into the corvette & driving right off the page. very a-ha take on me & a little bit of sledgehammer...brilliant.

  • Great Post. I remember seeing this video only once on Night Flight in '86. I went out the next day and bought the 45 single. I was surprised Jones came out with such a rocker!!!!

  • I love this video. There's so much hidden musical imagery in it that it's not even funny. Do any of you know if it's available anywhere?

  • This song is the best I ever heard - EVER!!! Together with the video it's just unbelievable! HOWARD JONES IS SIMPLY THE BEST!!! Nothing left to say... I LOVE HIS MUSIC!!!!!

  • I love the Chinese-esque beginning of this song. It is awesome. The Eighties were the best music ever.

  • "You got the socket, I got the plug" haha....need I say more? HJ was one of the best of one of the best music eras and this is one of his best songs imho.

Thank you for the ear candy Howard.

    God bless!

  • I use to watch this video,, on an independent tv station (Chicago, IL),...Gosh I was 14,, and Loved it !!!

  • Bring back the 80s! I can't bear any more of the rubbish that is being churned out today!

  • Simply, rubbish is the word for it. It's true that there was some chaff churned out in the eighties as well, but at least it had emotion.

  • @simplyeighties Which industry ignores 95% of its customers by not providing any product of interest, quality or value? Answer: The MUSIC INDUSTRY. The music they do sell is aimed at a very small proportion of the population - and they happen to be the proportion with the least money to spend on music - teenage girls. WHY are the not selling music to us? Firstly, we have lots of money cos we work all day, and secondly we were brought up PAYING MONEY for music, not stealing it off the internet.

  • @simplyeighties

Oh! I sooooooooo agree with your statement.

  • This is unlike the songs of today. Most of the music today is devoid of dynamics, intensity, or feeling. This song starts out with a pounding beat and ends with a pounding beat.

  • God bless this song. Not too many truly romantic songs left!!!

  • Cool share...thanks Sherry!

  • Wow! I forgot all about this song...Great song GREAT video!!! I LOVE Howard Jones music!!

  • NICE VID.

    I LOVE HOJO.

  • fave HoJo video and song!!!

  • That is a cool video!

  • God, I didn't hear that song for at least 15 years... You have to love YouTube just for that!

Thanks a lot for posting this pearl in the shell! (Got it? ;) )

  • Thank God I grew up in the 80's, when MTV actually played... music videos! (Imagine that!) Thanks for posting - awesome video Howard - sounds as good today as it did back then.

  • right? wow, we were so fortunate to have experienced the 80s. everything is sucky by comparison: i don't like too much of the new music, and what i do like is from the 90s.

(with the exception a sylvian: his well just NEVER seems to run dry.)

i want my mtv! (like it used to be!)

  • As in David Sylvian?

  • As in David Sylvian, yes.

  • I love this song- I forgot all about it for a longtime but then heard it today in PANDA EXPRESS...LOL and I loved it all over again :) Howard rules!!

  • To make it short - 5 *

  • Anybody notice the G-Clef made out of a chain in the nuts and bolts sequence?

  • Thank you HoJo...and thank you YOUtube

  • I loved the song since I first heard it and I think the video is sooo fine! Thank God I can relive it through youtube.

  • 良いです!

  • This is my favorite song by Howard Jones. It is also one of the best videos of the mid 80s. Damn I miss that decade.

  • 80's will always be the best music. Period! Awesome HoJo!

  • mostly of the most astonishing music videos came from te 80's and this is one great example, hmmmm i remember 1985...

  • Great!

  • Great song and excellent vid. This is just one of the myriad of reasons that this particular decade was THE decade for music....
