  • I think your awesome because your not afraid to say how much all your puzzles are in the comments. A lot of people that sell things on youtube don't do that because their scare of what people will think. With you, it is what it is and I think your amazing for it. =)

  • So it is 5*5*5? Wow. It looks like a 3*3. I'm now officially confused.

  • @thesandbar2 The small pieces in-between the main three pieces count as the other two. This makes it 5x5x5.

  • takes a lot a brains to make these kinds of things, kudos.

  • people stop asking this guy for lower prices it's like going to a apple retailer and ask if you could buy the iphone 4s for lower prices and believe i tried that **** before

  • @bizano2

    That isn't a good analogy.

iPhones are incredibly cheap to make and are designed to make high profit. 3D printing is costly and I'd say it's safe to assume that Oskar probably earns more from personally assembling and stickering it than just shipping the pieces alone.

I can see why both would refuse to budge, but I'm assuming for Oskar it's less about profit and more about the cost of creation.

  • a mini version of gear shift

  • This cube he's bored

The original cube is much funny.

  • @SirNiko3105 what?

  • I looks absolutely deadly to solve. I'm looking forward to buying some of your inventions sometime - ones which are available on the market of course.

  • How to solve the gear cube

  • epic gearcube is epic.

  • "HI im oscar vonfrieybbsus"

  • @xFred15ericx Oskar van Deventer

  • Oskar is the boss!

  • im 12, i would die solving one of these

  • this is sick! XD

  • how is it a 5x5

  • @darklyperfect it is a 3X3 with a small row in between each bigger row. you can see the very skinny pieces if you look closely.

  • ARE YOU GETTING PAYED FOR THIS??????

  • Why do you record your videos outside?

  • @CnAxGaming Better light

  • whats the point? to make rubics cube harder

  • looks a little STIFF.... u can hardly turn it yourself!!! :/

  • i always love his videos, mainly because he's so polite at the end.

  • that grinds my gears

  • Totally isn't worth 400$. This may be extremely unique or whatever you're going to feed me with, but I'm pretty sure almost no people would be interested in it. In addition, I dislike the way you commented on cnlferner's comment, as it was merely pointing out the you're prices are too big, whereas you reply with an impertinent answer of saying he fails to understand how awesome your products actually are.

    Thank you :).

  • @Rasmus0909 Thank you for your well argued comment. Value is in the eyes of the beholder. I consider myself fortunate to have some customers who are willing to buy my prototypes, despite the fact that I am unable to produce single prototypes at mass-production cost. I hope to achieve your price point some day ...

  • @OskarPuzzle will you haggle with your prices... i cant afford 400$ but will 275$ do you well?

it looks so good... i just want it for decoration

  • @Omegadarkdrake Thanks for the compliment. I hope you can find a sponsor somewhere to fill up the missing $125 in your budget.

  • @Rasmus0909 Looks like you don't understand what is the cost of 3D printing.

  • @Rasmus0909 If a carpenter charges me $100 to make a table I designed, I'm not going to sell it to you for $50, am I? No. Because If I did that I may as well have just given the carpenter $50 to give you a table. Ya dig?

... Think of it this way... His carpenter charges a lot.

  • @Rasmus0909 think about the gigaminx,a mass producted puzzle, cost arround 80$,this is much more unique and nonmassproducted,i think it worth the price,i won't buy ,but i think it worth,in my opinion of course :D

  • I want the Caution cube or the this one

  • Dude all ur puzzles are so stiff and rough :/ it sounds horrible to turn and it looks like u struggle to turn them...

  • This one is my favourite out of the puzzles you've shown us. I love the exposed gear component to it, well done sir.

  • Do you ever solve any of these cubes? I doubt it's easy ;)

  • So you invent your own cubes? May I ask how you would go about making a cube?

  • @Kragalar he designs them on a 3D cad program on the computer, where he designs all the pieces of the puzzle, the files are then saved and uploaded to the site Shape Ways. Shape ways then print out each of these pieces in a 3D printer, the pieces are then shipped to Oskar, where he dyes them, and stickers them.

  • or normal insted of tiny

  • even though I'm not so good with puzzles, the mere craftsmanship behind these devices amazes me.

  • wow that looks so......awesome

  • I like the way you always say "Thank you for watching".

  • Y is he outside?-it looks cold!!!!

  • is there a reason he's outside?

  • @TheInfallibleChase just something he does with all (most?) of his vids. maybe for the lighting or so?

  • can you solve it like a half turn 3x3?

  • wow that looks extremely hard

  • I just want to say ta=hat i am overly obsessed with all your creations.

  • Is it possible to make a Gear Cube with gears, that don`t shift shape and keep their orientation

  • dank je :) =)

  • dank je, dat ik nederlands ben

  • cool je bent nederlands mooie puzzels :D

  • Merry Christmas Oskar

  • its a dutchman , u can hear it. greetz from a dutchman.

  • how do you make the parts for your puzzles? do you have to send your designs to a company then the make the peices for you?

  • painfully awkward

  • Fivef by fivef Lol ;_;

  • Very neat, keep up the good work!!!

  • can you solve it like a 3x3x3 rubix cube?

  • @OskarPuzzel One day I will save for one of your beautiful puzzels, I'm a big fan of your work! and I wish people would read a little before they complaine about the price.

  • @yoyomaster223 I could be wrong, but seeing as it's on Shaepways, I think maybe the price is decided by them based on the amount of mass and parts used in the item. Their prices get kind of nuts sometimes, unfortunately.

  • you my friend, are ridiculously amazing

  • caution 5x5 ...

  • certainly not built for speed solves...

  • betcha can't do this redkb!

  • @yoyomaster223 go 3-D print one, you'll still be paying over half of that

  • also, if you only made a few prototypes, i can see why it is so expensive.

  • @OskarPuzzle im sorry i was tierd that night, i couldnt get to sleep. i half to admit that is a pretty cool cube. i understand why it costs so much. you are pretty crazy, as a comment, because u make some really cool cubes! question, did you make lots of them or did you make few prototypes? sorry=(

  • @yoyomaster223 Only ONE prototype

  • that is so AWESOME

  • So Question, what does this differ from the "Caution cube"? very cool tho

  • @sasuke1212naruto More gears

  • @OskarPuzzle oh coool :D

  • @OskarPuzzle bt i see only one edge and two corners so how is it 5x5x5 ?!?!

  • @PistonAndPistol you gotta count the gears too :)

  • @OskarPuzzle

    your prices are outrageous

  • @cnlferner They are 3D-printing cost-based. I am sorry that you did not take the effort to acknowledge the uniqueness of my design.

  • @cnlferner They are over priced because he knows they suck and you can't get your money back.

  • @cnlferner He does not set the prices. The 3D printing company does.

  • WOW......that's soooo cool!

  • that looks hard to turn

  • I feel this is somewhat closer to a 3x3 in terms of solving. I found the regular gear cube closer to a 2x2.

  • Brrrrr, so cold!

  • Geared 5x5 ... Geared 3x3 ... What about Geared 1x1?

  • you really like gears dont you :D

  • 3x3...

  • am i the only one who thinks this guy, sounds like Dr. evil from austin powers ?? :D

  • @epicwin693 dr evil= over the top dutch accent.

Oskar= real dutch accent. So yes, they sound similar. Its still pretty rude though :/

  • you really go out of your way to do this outside

  • How difficult would this be to solve, in relation to the regular Gear Cube?

  • @jonni928 I guess that it is significantly harder.

  • It is my birthday tomorrow, what store can I buy this from?

  • @Oshyrath Happy birthday. This puzzle can be bought at my Shapeways Shop.

  • i want to create my own puzzle how do i do it

  • How do you Lubricate this cube?

  • Oskar, do you use solidworks to design your puzzles?

  • You are awesome Oskar!

  • you have great inventions, sir.

  • make a geared 4x4, You just can't :P

  • this is soooooo cool, kudos

  • Why do you always make your videos outside?

  • I'm just waiting for him to make a 4D cube

  • I think this is my favorite puzzle of yours. its like a traditional cube if you want to ignore thelines, or a 5x5 if you want to acknowledge them. that's cool! excellent for a steam punkmmovie or something haha

  • Could you make it smaller? Maybe with larger gears - even if it's shapechanging would be OK.

  • @kstringer24 The gears cannot be any larger, because otherwise the corners would fall off.

  • @kstringer24 Someone may come up with a way to do that some day.. but for now theres no way of doing it without pieces falling off. Just like how They used to think you couldnt make anything bigger than a 5x5x5, but now theres a 17x17x17!!!

  • i just bought a gear cube, and it was way to easy. is this cube much harder to solve than the gearcube?

  • @markustk Yes.

  • Does this one make quarter turns? Can it be modified to?

I think a geared 5x5x5 with the ability to quarter turn like your 3x3 would be amazing!

  • @Badhabitsjay No. I have been exploring that direction with Mixup 5x5x5. There is a fundamental geometrical limitation, unfortunately.

  • @OskarPuzzle Ahh that is a shame, this is probably my favourite in terms of aesthetics, it's very pretty.

  • Is this really a geared 5x5? Consider that on a regular 5x5 you have 5 layers in any direction to turn freely. However, this cube only has 3 as the 2 gear layers are dependent on the 2 adjacent layers. Don't you think this would be more appropriate as a geared 3x3 since you only have 3 layers to turn?

  • @MaestroAlvis Don't you think this would be more appropriate to call the commercial Gear Cube a geared 1x1 since you only have 1 layer to turn?

  • @OskarPuzzle How is it only 1 layer to turn? The geared layer in the middle is dependent on the 2 adjacent layers making it a geared 2x2.

  • OK, what the ****? My brain just exploded...

    This is just too good!

  • Did he just sniff that cube?

  • insane

  • An other very cool puzzle!

  • @NickMireHub The puzzles are 3D-printed from nylon powder. They turn quite smoothly, despite the scratchy sound.

  • Hey, i like this one :) will you be making a geared 5x5 that you can turn 90 degrees? its just, you managed to do it with the original geared cube :). just wondering.

  • Do those gears on the inside actually impair solving at all or are they just there to look cool?

  • @mjswdr The orientation of the edge gears and the geared coupling of the slices make this a quite different puzzle from a regular 5x5x5.

  • @OskarPuzzle Very cool. Looks like an awesome puzzle, will you be selling them?

  • @mjswdr Yes, but only to pleople who read the description, and who do not complain about the cost of 3D-printing :-)

  • I wouldn't just let it rest on the snow lol

  • this would be about as fun to solve as a sore thumb.

  • I'm flabbergasted.

  • Haha, is this a Christmas gift to us? : )

    Very crazy and nice!

  • Do you do this full time? You must have calloused hands!

  • Its this just a normal puzzle, or will we be seeing this on Meferts?

  • You sir, are a genius.

  • Joyeux Noël!

  • I say when the temperature drops below 0 C it's time to move the videos inside.

  • nice!

  • OSKAR! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?!?!?!?! YOU'VE RIPPED A HOLE IN REALITY!!!!!

  • Merry Christmas Oscar

  • I hope Meffert's can factory produce this one too, cuz I want it!

  • Really like it Oskar keep the puzzles coming

  • Awesome puzzle Oskar, like always :)

  • I reckon you might be able to combine every one of Oskar's geared puzzles in existence and it would make something that you could use to take over the world with.. Great job (:

  • looks like u got the snow back

  • Holy God damn, I am in shock.

Merry Christmas Oskar, you crazy cuber (in the best way possible).

  • OH MY GOD

  • i wanted a 4x4 but this is awesome

  • betcha can't do this redkb!

  • @TheMayZek Bet again! ;)

  • @redkb shall we expect a tutorial?

  • @TheMayZek If it is going to be mass produced, I'd make a tutorial. That's assuming I can figure out how to solve it. :-P

  • @redkb hahha yeah it seems pretty darn tough

  • Oskar, you never cease to amaze me!

  • aweome!!

  • What happens when you try and do an M turn?

  • @HeedleBlambeedle It would be the equivalent of an R L' so both gear layers would turn, correct?

  • @CyroKarat That would mean that you can't be holding the puzzle by the outside two layers, because those would have to turn as well.

  • Happy Christmas!

You are a gentleman, and a genius!

    =^_^=

  • I like that puzzle, good work!

    Merry Christmas!

  • I swear.... If this gets mass produced at all, I'm going to shit a goddamn brick o_o do want.

  • One word: Mefferts :P

    mass production!

  • Cool :) I like your gear cubes it is an awesome Idea

  • Are you Frank Morris? I bet Oskar isn't his real name. His name is Frank!

  • your best puzzle!

  • that's so awesome! o.o

  • OMG!!!

P.S. I have one of your Maze Cubes... it's awesome!

  • That's just mean Oskar.

  • The logical part of my brain is telling me that something like this shouldn't be possible, but you've pulled it off!

  • I would call it "The Scottish Cube"

  • @Tripleyou why?

  • @Shockszzbyyous I think he means that the patterns on the cube resemples the patterns on the scottish kilts.

  • @somepunkwithashotgun cool i see it now :)

  • @Shockszzbyyous because of traditional scottish style clothces..

  • Something about it makes this a really intimidating looking puzzle.

  • i think theres cold

  • looks fragile with all the small pieces.

  • oh my god, thats amazing.

  • I saw the title and got scared...I still am...This puzzle looks crazy
