@AnGobh Fighting and dancing are very similar to each other. Both require timing, precision in both body posture and footwork and most importantly FLOW.
Yup, I was waiting for someone to say it. footwork and timing's really important, One that I don't think is stressed enough across the board. I'm not saying that there aren't martial arts or schools that don't stress this (there are plenty that do: Kung Fu, some Karate, Boxing, Escrima, Taekkyon, Capoiera, etc heck even fencing) I just don't think it's totally addressed by everyone (though if you're a fighter or fight, you'll realize pretty quickly how important they are),
@newhauz What do you mean? I bet your one of those who have colonial mentality and shit... you forgot to buy skin whitening today, go buy some first. LOL!
which is why manny pacqiuo knocked out honky boy hatton. to be honest in a country where u learn martila arts young u im not surprised ricky hatton lost quikly
also, i really dont like how ppl say that martial arts ike this dont work. the biggest factor that made me turn to martial arts is wen i was younger, i was chatting crap saying how this lads "karate shit" wouldnt work in a real fight, and i tormented that kid for 2 years! and then he finally said "hey why dont you try and hit me?" and me thinkin i was hard, threw everything i had at him, he blocked FOUR of my swings so easily, then knocked me out with his PALM........case closed. haha
and as you should know, speed x strength = power. so dont bullshit by saying someone small cant beat someone big. im 5ft5 and beat someone who was 6ft3 in the final in america! and on the other hand i went against a kid in spain that was like 4ft tall (exaggerating obv but you get what i mean) and he had the hardest punch ive ever seen
muay thai for 3, tried bokator for a year, but it was too similar to muay thai for my liking, done tae kwon do for 2 years, and im currently in to some mma for about a month now, and seriously ive gone against some massive people in my time, and tbh they were the easiest fights ive ever been in! they were no match for my speed! and i do alot of weights also so im not weak (continued)
Ver possibly, because if you look and you have an understanding of Filipino Escrima, which is the art of stick fighting, you will actually see, that the dance steps and the movement of the sticks, is method of fighting. The dance hides it. A stick is a powerful tool in the hands of an experienced fighter.
I am 5'11" at about 200 pounds and my teacher is about 5'7", 15o pounds, maybe and yet, when I tried to knock him out with a choke hold, he not only slipped the hold, he escaped across the room, in the time it took me to realize he had escaped. It is about skill, leverage and precision. You can move a massive stone, with a stick as a lever and a small stone as the fulcrum, requiring only the strength to move the stick. Leverage, which is the science of math.
It's not math, it's physics... But anyway, in a chaotic situation (like the bar scene), when you're getting jumped from everywhere... size does matter.
Well pardon my ignorance. It is still a science. If you are getting jumped from everywhere, then it means there is more than one aggressor. At that point, I think size is irrelevant. The rael question is, what do we gain from this useless debating? As I see it, the answer is nothing and I will waste no more time on this.
For ketchupbull: GM Angel Blancia? Do you really believed the claims of his "students" that almost all of the GM's are the products of the so-called Blancia system? They even claimed that he trained Dan Inosanto and Bruce Lee?!!! Dude, wake up! You're the latest victim of that dubious book written by this French guy, trying to rewrite the origins of modern FMA. Next thing you know, these guys will be saying that they're responsible for teaching the Kalinga's how to use battle axes. LOL!
All of you, do your best. But ever since, your senior foundator neglect their origin GM: AngelL. Blancia. Almost famous martial arts artist in the Philippines are product of Blancia System. That is the true fact:
Yes but This fighting style wasnt developed through dancing. This Dancing is just a way to practice fighting in secret so others wont know as much as you do of what your Dancing Truley means.
wow i just noticed that .. dancers would make greate fighters. They got timing sense of balance >.> all they need after that is killer intent and muscles.

Interesting - Capoiera in Brazil has a similar history of 'dancing' moves being quietly developed into a martial art.
ambergypsy9 9 months ago
@ambergypsy9 No, this is different. It's a martial art incorporated into a dance. Very typical for Southeast Asia.

I think this applies to almost all Asian martial arts. The WC systems was supposedly hidden under the guise of a Red Boat Opera troupe.
