Jungle was NEW music...Something NEVER done before...

This dubstep trash is NOT new...It's REALLY slow hip hop beats (70bpm) with wobbling baselines (that ALL sound the same) on top.

But Jungle/DnB ate itself...Instead of fostering and championing creative sounds it became a battle to out "bass" eachother...to over-compress shit until all that was heard was buzzing bass....Too bad. Oh well, I can always come back to my 90's shit.

cant agree man, 90% of dubstep you hear nowadays is mainstream bullshit but some of the older artists and record labels like hyperdub and dmz make some proper tunes

@djfakt wrong. dub is 70 bpm, dubstep is 135-145 (so obviously not slow hip hop). and how can you say its not 'new', it obviously has its destinct own sound. it may vary alot but its all dubstep at the end of the day. a very recognisable sound.

@counttidus Dude half of 140 is 70 bpm. Or think of it as the beat being on every other beat instead of each beat. you could take a 70 bpm song and if you counted by eighths it would be the same speed as counting a 140 song by fourths.

@counttidus dubstep aint a new sound at all, the name is fairly new but 'dark' garage has been around for ages, i was listening to photeks album solaris which came out in 2000 i think, and theres a tune called halogen, if it were released today it would be called dubstep. im not disagreeing that dub and dubstep are seperate, just that dubstep isn't quite as fresh as people think.
