  • Great story, great Li Cunxin. He is originally from Qingdao, Shandong province of China. I read his book, very very inspiring!

  • geez I hope he's smarter than to vote for the Communist (democrat) party here in the US

  • @vintagestrat247 Since he's lived in Australia since 1995, I don't think it'll be an issue.

  • Watching this literally hours after reading his inspirational book.. ♥

  • What a wonderful man Li Cun Xin is!!

  • Nicely done interview. I saw the movie, it was such an amazing story that I had to get the book to read all the details. Loved the book too! For those questioning his national pride, that's not the case at all. Two of his children speak Chinese and they have traveled back to China many times. He was so proud to attend the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The Chinese should be very proud of his achievement in ballet and the national pride he ironically brought to China as a world class ballet dancer, w

  • I've seen him in real life

  • wow, I saw the movie and it is so accurate with what he is saying!

  • Ballet is amazing and he is amazing.

  • I loved the movie, and now I'm spellbound by the book!

  • wow!

  • This man is an example to us all

  • What an incredible story and person Li is..Now I have to see the movie.

Makes me count and appreciate my blessings more.

He was 'Australian Father of the Year' in 2009 and deservedly so.

  • I'm so proud to be Chinese :D <3

  • lol i laugh sooo hard in his part when he said he keep sayin "yes" when he asked if he is still hungry?

    LOL XD

  • I saw the movie which accurately reflected the horrors of the monsters: Mao and his wife, Jiang Qing's era in China. It was beautifully done with exquisite ballet interspersed in its toil and few years of glory, and agony at a short career's end, when Li's soloist partner was replaced by his future 2nd wife. The interview and story moved me to tears and I celebrate Li's glory and his mother, a powerful woman’s retort to the Communists when accused of raising such a ‘traitor son’!

  • @florphoto AGREED! :)

  • I love his accent =]

  • I Lol @ How the guy pronounced his name "Swin Sing" xD

  • only 10,674 viewss?? there shoold be at least 100 million

  • he's so sincere(:

  • he sorta quoting his own book... but hes awesome :)

  • @Mysweetstrawberryjam I realised that strayt away too

  • Can't wait to see the movie..."Mao's Last Dancer". I will never look at another meal the same again, very very inspirational.

  • he is a great narator sincere and honest.I admire him.

  • marvelous interview!!!

    so touching.

Mr Manouse is so gentle and provocative at the same time and

Li Cunxin is so articulate and charming.

the commentary about his family's trip from China to the theater was so moving!!!

  • Amazing man! Amazing story!

  • What an amazing life. I read his book in 2 days. Li Cunxin is an inspiration. Im thrilled to know he is living here in Australia with his beautiful family...it gives me a sense of connection to him....He also won Australian father of the year last year. A brilliant talent and a humble person. Li is wonderful.

  • thank you, mr li for leading such an inspirational life.

  • what troubles me is, Chairman Mao is a thought leader in our present White House. I am glad China is no longer the country Mr. Li remembers, but the man who ruined it and starved so many millions of people with his tyranny and stupidity is someone our American leaders admire. Frightening.

  • I love his story...the truth is always the uglier version of this story

  • very inspiring

  • I don't like him!! He is one of these Chinese who has no pride at all! Who are always telling some so-called "poor" story to western people who know so little about China and the people. They know you guys are interested to hear 'BAD' stories about China. They are buying sympathy from people by disgracing the country and their peers. But, if a person has no respect and pride, how could you expect they are telling the truth?

  • @nandeable I think that was how China was then, not how it is now. I find it to be a testimonial to how much China has advanced over the years, not a lack of pride in his ethnic identity.

  • @SilverInsanity This movie is about the past not present so whatever his experience are not realiaty of China today.

  • @wikct2 Yes, but perhaps I did not word myself clearly. I meant that it showed China in the past, and as a comparison to China now, shows how much we have advanced. :) Or I am simply wrong.

  • @nandeable i dont blame him for thinking like this about china...his life wasnt exactly paradise when he grew up.

  • Very candid and honest.

  • The old China was like North Korea...

  • HIs story is one to be cherished, simply amazing.

  • wow

  • amazing!!

  • my favourite book EVER!!!!!

  • I don't like such person as he makes Chinese look bad. I am a Chinese and I feel sorry about it.

  • @nandeable it is ok that he has the right to say what he likes say. Plus his experience is something happen decades ago. China today is not China yesterday. I just hope people will not always look at China and judge China with outdated information and and I certainly hope that this guy will still love his home country, China.

  • @nandeable I'm chinese as well and i don't think the he or the film or book is painting chinese people in a negative light. if there's any criticism it's for the government at the time, and not about how chinese are inherently "bad" but lived in very trying times, with a very strict and authoritarian government.

  • @nandeable you should accept reality of life ,otherwise you would never know youeself your culture.

  • @youratwitface Totally agree - I couldn't put the book down! & I think I cried around 5 times - no exaggeration by any means! Very humbling to say the least!
