i used to be able to do some cheat on the Surface level (the first one i think) where you could make your mines be chameleon-like...meaning, once you "unlocked" it, you could throw a mine at something and it would look like whatever it got stuck to. for example, throwing it on the waste barrels would make the mine look like the biohazard symbol on the barrel, or the mines would look like wood when thrown on a door, etc. has anyone else done that? i know i'm not crazy...

these glitches were 're-programmed' after the game by whoever created the rom, as they were not present on the original N64 version. Interesting to watch what 'hacks' people can make. A classic game.

The island isn't a hack so much as it is a piece of the programming that was never finished. You need a gameshark to override the programming that prevents you from getting there. It was originally supposed to be a secret place where you would have to go to defeat one of Bond's classic bad guys a bit like the bonus levels at the end where you face Jaws. They discontinued these things and never finished the programming on the original game, but they didn't delete the work that was already there.
