  • hay my dad has one of these same ones that door that your not sure about lifts up and inside is a little drawer that pulls out my dads is a little more complex but works the same way

  • Looks like you have a 2 move box.

  • WARNING: POSSIBLE CHILD MOLESTER O_o

  • @brownsrock2007 Possible faggot is you.

  • @jtpruzz ha ok then. cause that makes sense

  • @brownsrock2007 It does. Thanks for agreeing.

  • I have a small version of that type of box, but requires like 12 moves to open. One side moves a little, which allows another side to move slightly, which then allows another side to move slightly, etc, going around in a clockwise fashion until the final top lid opens. So your box is essential the last 2 steps from my box, and appears to have the same types of mechanism.

  • I believe that's all they do. From what I know they are used to place a special item inside. The puzzle is suppose to stop the intruder from opening

  • Hi, and I was told these Japanese and Chinese puzzel boxes were not made any more as it was a lost art; so I gave up many years ago in my search for one to replace a couple I had as a kid! Then I do a Google search and find loads of them! Not cheap, but so very awesome in design and craftsmanship. And low and behold, I find you with your demo box!!! Can you find me some good/fair prices in Japan for ond of these boxes? I'm looking for a 10 -14 step box.

    Thanks! Hope you're back!

    Bob

  • I think that box is broken. You shouldn't be able to open it with 1 move. Both sides were suppose to move a little each time till you can slide it open not just 1 side...

  • hmm... when the lid is off i wonder... try to pull up the other small side and it should go up about 1/3 of the way and reveal a drawer that you can pull out. and THAT is the "extent" of that box

  • I have a vintage puzzle box as well except mine is a 4 move box. On mine, the opposite side slides upward with one move and has a drawer in it. Seeing that your box is already open and that wall still moves, I would suspect that there is a drawer on that side. Also, by examining the video, it does appear that there would be room in the bottom of the box to have such a drawer. I hope this is helpful to you. Let me know if this works.

  • oh its hachiko!

  • That wasn't much of a puzzle

  • @xXkyleownedXx he was being an idiot, they give you instructions an there very easy to crack

  • there is a hidden drawr on the side you dont understand try testing the wood grains one of them must slide

  • ok, thx :)

  • How much does one of these puzzle boxes cost?

  • push both doors up after taking the lid off

  • That box is completed as you had it.

    Probally only the 2/3 moves.

I had one that had something like 40 moves. =^_^=

    Nice patterns

  • I have 1 that looks the same. It takes 8 moves to open. it is 60 years old.

  • Has anyone ever heard about a puzzle box with a simple drawer that I believe opens pretty easily, however the puzzle is that no matter what way you turn the box (on it's side, upside down) the drawer always opens open side up. I've only heard about it and saw a picture I think on one website, but haven't been able to find one or a video of one. I think that would be AMAZING tho!!

  • Hello U2fan24, I have never seen a puzzle box like you describe though I certainly would like to. Thank you for sharing! -Kurt :-)

  • that could happen by the drawer having a guidence placement where the wood up on top is blocked by a joint, and garvity always moves the top "slice" of wood gets blocked and stays back. i had a magic trick toy as a little kid like that

  • I have something similiar. Its very easy to open once you know the trick. I gave it to my cousin to try and she couldnt get it even after half an hour of playing. The draw just simply slides out.

  • what type of wood its made this

  • Hello, why dont you put something in it? the box is nice..

  • nice face

  • Thanks for the educational video and description, especially regarding history. I videosponded with a modern piece from my personal collection which utilizes an internal trinary system. I hope you like it.

  • Thank you for responding with your video and for sharing with us on YouTube. -Kurt (theoldtokaido)

  • I like the design of the box, but not much of a puzzle. I'm sure it took a lot of work to make it. I would love to have a puzzle box as intricate and immaculate as the one on "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets" (the "resolute" desk(s))
