yeah I know. I live here in Canada. There is no death penalty and rightfully so. Aside from whether or not it's ethical or humane, sometimes its better for a killer to live with their guilt. Also, sometimes there are other victims and so many more questions that need to be answered. Executing a killer will serve no justice other than to reap revenge for a group of people. As an athiest, I would rather have a killer rot in prison rather than burn in a place that most likely doesnt exist.

Did you know the death certificates of executed prisoners has "homicide" as cause of death? That says it all if you ask me. It's homicide that is above the law. By definition, the executioner should be killed too, as well as his executioner and so on.

Thanks for posting such an incredible tribute to these women. It is heartbreaking to think of how many lives Robert Pickton destroyed. Not just those of these women, but those of any and all family and friends they may have had as well. A terrible tragedy.

This is a very sad video, I am sorry to all the families that were hurt. Robert Pickton is a very sick individual. I do not understand why the families had to wait so many months for an answer. I'm sure the police force and throughout all the forensic evidence they uncovered, they knew long before the verdict was final.

The "Act" of First Degree does not come after the murder but the process leading up "TO" the murder.  What he did with the bodies after the crime was committed is irrelevant to the charge, in my opinion.

WRONG. The difference between the two charges, First Degree and Second Degree is intent. In criminal court, two things must be proven. Actus Reus, the guilty act, and Mens Rea, the guilty mind. Mens Rea is not motivation for the crime, simply evidence that at the time of the murder(s), the accused planned and was willing to commit murder. First Degree is planned, willful murder, while Second Degree is simply a murder, without evidence of intentionally murdering them.

Second Degree is spur of the moment. No planning or forethought.

Manslaughter is self defense or accidental, for example.

With my explanation you'd think that correcting me would be a bad idea. Using terms like Mens Rea and Actus Reus sort of implies that I know the topic quite well. Everyone knows that Robert Pickton meant to kill the prostitutes, but there is no evidence of fore-planning, so it is lowered to Second Degree. Second Degree is not only spur of the moment. (I.E. If I planned on killing your mom, and accidentally killed you, that would be second degree.)
