This happened to me the other day. It was at night, and I almost didn't see him (he was black, and wearing dark clothes.) I laid on the horn hard, and had to swerve to avoid hitting him. living in new york i felt sorry for people like this until i talked to some and this user made up every excuse. The fact is a lot of them are making tax free money. They don't want to work. And it ruins everything for people REALLY down on their luck. I don't give food or money now. Money is used for drugs and if you give them food, that's less they gotta spend of the money they get on food. Eff it. Im a college student. My best friends former brother in law is panhandling now. He came up to me the other day acting like he didnt know me and asking for money. He gave me a story about he came home from working in the oilfields and his wife left him. Of course I knew he's lying and still he acted like he didnt know me. When I mentioned his kids and his wife he said I got him confused with someone else.

Yes, they found one scam artist, whoopy! I don't give to individuals and I'm very wary of giving to charities (too many just collect money to pay good wages to administrators). What I do is volunteer with local organizations, washing dishes at places that give out free meals, for instance. If an organization shows no interest in my offer to volunteer, then I think they are full of crap. If they do want volunteers, then sometimes I will also bring food or give money. Often I get a free meal.
