There is corruption in every government because at the end of the day these places are made up of people, and some people like alot of the officers featured in this doco more deserve to be an inmate than a officer of the law, but there are others that do there best to be a good person and treat others with dignity and respect. These Californian prisons, should do the 'vipassana meditation' course (run by G.N. Goenka). They have trialled this technique in the Tihar jail (the highest security jail in India) for the guards as well as inmates, and have recorded remarkable changes in attitude. Guards have become more compassionate, less angry and aggressive, while prisoners reported genuinely contrition. Prisoners who do the course have reported the lowest rate for recidivism.
