  • 9:18 "First thing you will realize is how much space you have in there."

Yeah, now look under the hood...

I wouldn't buy a van, any van, with a V configured engine. PITA to service. Apparently the Inline 4 was dropped in the US... They should develop a line of 4/5/6 inline diesels for sprinters and make a narrow removable interior console. They would be a hell of a lot easier to service/repair than their v6 considering the turbo is also crammed in the engine bay.

  • you have to realize Mercedes doesnt sell Commercial vehicles in the US, so it is sold thru Dodge and Frieghtliner. RIP DaimlerChrysler lol

  • its a MERC!!!!!!

  • THIS IS A MERCEDES SPRINTER

  • Go to europe see what they drive and how they do it,. They do it right, why ? cause products have to deliver over there. There is alot of competition , the roads are packed the driving intense ,and you cannot be mediocre, you wont last. the big three have been behind the curve for years on many of their products especially vans .

  • Well which American VAN does 170Kph on the Highway?

Yes they might be underpowered but the gearing is right :-)

In Europe it is more about Fuel consumption than power.

But I agree, the quality could be a bit better.

  • Yeah it's a Benz. It's also REALLY underpowered.

  • the sprinter is an developement of mercedes-benz!!! there have to be no doge sing at this van

    NICE GREETINGS FROM GERMANY!!!!!

  • I seen one of those in Holland, just a week ago. Thought at first it was a Mercedes Sprinter by reading the comments can't figure out why anybody would go to all the bother to import one.

  • Yeah, they are taller, but they have weak ass engines.

  • I bought a Sprinter because there is NO American van you can stand in with high doors to match!!! WTFO!

  • do u need cdl to drive this van?

  • I get a laugh every time I see a Sprinter which has had a Mercedes grill installed on it. Like the MB grill adds some class to this van, puleeze...

  • Shit trucks, all Mercs and MANs are.... overrated

  • I find that my Sprinter 2007 goes through to many headlights > Always some kind of bulb going out.Does anyone else have the same issue?

  • @frankfarrugia1 It's a German car phenominen, basically caused by poor engineering, low quality components, and indifferent build quality, buy a ford or Gm instead and stop fooling yourself tby beleiving the lie that German mean sbetter....

  • Fuck this Sprinter piece of shit. 205 Less HP, and 170 Less Lb-FT than the E350 yet both vans are rated 3500 class..... American cars are American. European cars are European.

  • I've spoken to some people who work for FEDEX and 1 guy that even owns one of those and they all say the same. IT's A PIECE OF SHIT. Everything breaks inside and it doesn't handle the road properly in winter mostly and a tow truck driver even mentions to me that he picks up a sprinter at least 5 per week on his truck. It's a piece of shit and on top of that IT LOOKS GAY and UGLY.

  • I love US vehicles ( and have always had them here in UK where they arnt very common ) I think its a shame they replaced the Dodge Van with the sprinter after all those years. They could have made it more efficient with modern diesel engines , etc , if thats what customers wanted , but they shouldnt have killed it off.The sprinter is good & efficient but it will never have the charcter of the old van

  • "producK"

  • I want this in USA as a 6 Speed Standard

    That Would Be awesome

  • @winston0079 Don't count on it, that would make too much sense.

  • @n40798

I agree- the fact of the matter is that manuals just don't make sense for the combination of American roads and the American driver. . .

Europeans have used manuals for a whie for their fuel economy, but really only use them now out of inertia given that autos are usually faster and more economical (if not as fun under some conditions)

  • The Dodge Sprinter is the first of it´s kind? Is that true? Does it really require the Germans to come over and show you how a real cargo van looks like?

Anyway our company has a 318CDI overlong and mega roof and it drives just brilliant. Even at 110mph on the Autobahn it drives really safe. Unfortunately the new one has less payload then the predcessor.

  • Same van as MB but that shitty dodge symbol in front rim. :D

  • I own a 2007 sprinter, I have electrical problem, even the chrylser don''t even know how to fix it, worse part is the van engine burn 2 to 3 liters of engine oil between 6000 to 7000km and chrysler consider thats normal.

  • re. oil: Ask them to fill the engine up with an oil of less viscosity. That should solve the problem, even if the service-interval may be shorter.

  • I used 5w30 engine oil, How less viscousity oil can it goes. Your comment is appreciated. I guess this one bad german technology.

  • Hi tigerking, 10W40 or even 15W40 should be fine. Just also ask your Doge dealer. I mean not that you´ll loose some warranty or something. I noticed in the past that some engines (VW, MB etc) consume more oil than usual, just because they´re filled up with 5w30 or even 0w30. My dad used to drive a Skoda Octavia (VW engine). It consumed a lot of 5w30. After chaning to 10w40 it was just fine. Only the service interval shortened from 30000km to 25000km.

  • Even that guy seid he would drive a ford, Lol. I have an 2007 Chevy Express 2500 and i like it more than the sprinter van.

  • i just love the sprinters... are a dream to drive!!!

but they look better with mercedes branding!

  • Nice post. I wish I could have heard more about why they switched to the 6 cylinder though.

  • i got a 3500 2008 its leased to Fedex Custom Critical over the road trucking i even have a sleeper in it its perfect for expedite trucking.

  • i own a 312 fron 95', and that are the best sprinters ever made because the engine is a almost 3 litres 5 cil. turbo intercooler with not to much computershit, so i'm going to drive that one as long as possible. it has 200k miles on it, and the only major repair i had was a blown headgasket, so nothing special, and it still takes me anywere without any further problems. The only thing i miss is an airco, because it has no tainted glass, so when the sun shines, it's like a greenhouse in the cab.

  • The much beautifulr Tradesman Ram as line this seems a square drum does not have line, has this better point the Chevy.

  • I have to purchase a Hellwig anti sway bar and Air Lift bags to help to control the cross wind. It could not make in one inch of snow at 15 degree incline.

Quality control is a problem here.

I am looking at installing a step bumper and a hitch receiver, but the dealer asking for $1200 before installation and tax...

I am not sure Sprinter van will have any long- term success here. I suggest that Fiat Executives will straight up the Dodge poor management skills to save Mercedes 's reputation.

  • I own one of them. It is 2500 passenger van. I have been back to the dealers ten times for two recalls: the crankshaft sensor & the EGR valve. My fuel gauge was replaced because it wasn't working. It makes squeaky noises due to a loose grip of the last passenger seat bench and the floor. The rear door could not close completely because it was too tall. The plastic compartment could not hold up because of missing screws. The van is in the shop because it has a leaking AC oil.

    Tony B

  • the only dodge on this is that plastic emblem

this is a Mercedes Benz assembled in USA

  • no they didnt copy Mercedes like the japanese do...Mercedes owns a fair portion of Dodge so thats why you see this van

  • japanese ou chinese ? ;)

  • Carrots , carrots on a stick.....make me tired and sick Come on, whats the real world reliability and long term durability of these high priced vans? We are led to believe that because its mercedes it must be durable? Read consumer reviews, mercedes rated very low and problamatic. Just cause they made bomb proof diesels 30yrs ago dosent mean they WANT to make them today. Repairs are Profitable. DCX is a greedy company that just wants your wallet. Carrots on a stick. its better than the old one

  • mawsea07

i own a old 312 from 95', and that are the best sprinters ever. Mine has over 200k miles on it and the only maojor problem was a leaking head gasket, witch is a known problem for this 5 cillinder engine, and i payed 700 euro's to get it fixed, so that ain't to bad at al.

I drive it hard and fast, because i live in europe, and i never had such a good and reliable van as this one. i also know the stories about the newer models, and that's why i stick as long as possible to this one.

  • im hoping to get a 1997 mercedes sprinter 416 twin rear wheel LWB and fit it as a mobile workshop, and have living quarters aswell. yours sounds pretty good!

  • As far as i know there were no 416 back in 97'. i think that they came after 2000, because that's were they changed the engines and the nose ( different headlights, grille, bonnit, bumper and fenders) and another dashboard with the gearshifter from the floor into the dash.

  • really, i know a guy with 1 it was an ex-police one ? used to be a motorway camera van, it could of had the engine speicialy put into it? his is a 98 mind?

  • Chrysler should have kept the Ram Van line, in my opinion; someone I knew bought a small fleet of these Sprinter, nothing but trouble, but those were the early models, maybe now they've improved

  • COOL THEY MAKE A DODGE EMBLEM OF THIS MERCEDES-BENZ SPRINTER. I Like dodge and mercedes-benz but that the mercedes-benz sprinter a freightliner and a dodge branded in north america is is really no true thats all marketing tactics...

  • re design WAHAHHHAAH lol its a mercedes-benz sprinter DUUHHHH -,-

  • OPEL IS THE BEST!!#1

  • ok cool

  • Damn, I still wish the ram van was still in production. It would beat out the econoline and gm vans, especially if it had the new 400 + hp hemi or the cummins with over 650lb torque.

  • Its not all about power man..

  • opel is the best

  • i've seen 3 sprinters Freightliner, Mercedes-Benz, and Dodge

  • This is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. And Dodge make a copy Like the Japanese!! But i Like Dodge and Daihatsu!!

  • They never "copied", Dodge is in partnership with Mercedes. Mercedes just decided to sell their vans to North America. So they made it a Dodge.

  • It is a Mercedes-Benz Sprint you rstupid asshole! Dodge copied this Like the japanese.

  • wtf thats a mercedes

  • The Sprinter is soo cool. i wish i had one.. for business. it puts all econolines down the shoot. nothing compares to this van. hope no one tries to defend the crap cars ford and chevy are making. watch them follow the Sprinters footsteps. they already are in europe..

  • Alot here maybe not to like, what I DO like...a real stab at making the "Cessna Caravan" of cargo trucks. Easy to opperate and ready to work. I'd like to review one as a camper conversion.

  • just look for: "Mercedes Benz James Cook"

  • This is problematic in many senses, but I really enjoy watching the nakedness of an honest effort.

Change color of vehicle or background

A jacket inidicates how seriously the speaker is about product

Explain it to a 7 year old. repeat. Record.

Cardboard cards, presented in front of subject van, seem to cheaply and yet honest present. Got a sharpie?

We take you as seriously as you take yourself.

    Good job!

  • How dare Daimler try to pass this euro trash "van" off as the replacement for an American legacy in vanning.

  • Mercedes engine, co- production with VW, the best money can buy. Your Chevy, Ford trash you find in the German Museum- Munich, if you know were this is

  • This is the best van on the market, now Ford is going to replace the Econoline with the European Ford van which is similar to the Sprinter.

  • don't ever mention merc and VW in the same sentence,vw trade on a name of yesteryear. I had a VW LT35 (vw's attempt of the sprinter and everyhing bolted to the engine failed at 100k miles. Just remember the sprinter is THE eurovan i wonder if the US consumers know this .

  • @AuFe2 You fucking idiot. Those vans are shit. They wobble on the road, they're constantly broken and cost an arm and leg to maintain. And Ford Econolines have been around since 1961. WE ARE NOT EUROPE HERE. Those things are built out of tinfoil. The Econolines are built a lot tougher than this to sustain the work they do. That fucking toy won't outlast the Econolines that are built more like TRUCKS

  • @alyr315

    Exactly.

I hate Europeanization with a passion.

  • I love these "Eurovans" and gota have one!

  • i own one of these great vans in the uk. its just over 2 years old and has done over 200,000 miles delivering wall+floor tile all over the uk. Wait and see the new replacement of the econoline. it calle dthe ford transit and its the best selling van in europe for the last 40yrs.

  • @adam200784 Ford doesn't have any intention up to this day to replace the Econoline. The transit is not built as tough and doesnt have the payload that the Econoline has. And besides, Econolines are practically maintenance free. Oil change on Econoline? about 30 bucks, Sprinter? 150 or perhaps more. And then parts and labor. Most people I see with those sprinters, say it's junk. THEY ARE NOT MADE FOR NORTH AMERICA.

  • Yeah! If anything, the Ram Van should have been redesigned in 2004 to make it more modern, not replace it with a crappy German rebadged Mercedes van. It doesn't help that Mercedes could easily do a version of the Dodge Caravan.

  • The Mercedes Sprinter is widely considered in the rest of the world to be(along with other vans like the Ford Transit and the Toyota HiAce) one of the best vans available. Millions of them have been sold. It made perfect sense to bring it here rather than designing a brand new vehicle.

And think about the timing. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Spriter outdoes just about every other full sized van on the market. That has resulted in high sales nu,bers with the high gas prices.

  • How often these days do you see the word "crappy" associated with "German Cars"?

  • I don't know how many German cars are crappy.

  • thats my point..German cars arnt crappy...Damiler Chrysler made a good decision when they sold this van for the North American market

  • each of them is the best of his class

  • Interesting that the presentation was cut off when the all important question about having replaced the 5 cyl diesel with a V6 cylinder diesel as the 5 cyl power plant is what launched the Sprinter in the first place.

  • This V6 is smaller than the old 5R cyl. Mercedes wanted to have 1 big Diesel for C, CLK- class too. And it is more environmental friendly.
