It doesn't cheapen the song or its beauty, and it surely doesn't make me think less of Jon or the band. Actually, I love them all the more for it, for they were clever enough to craft a story where both meanings could easily fit for the end. Love the band, and love the song!

I love how most of SAVATAGE albums are concept albums. They are all good, even the ones with no "concept" behind them.
However, I do not believe this song is in reference to a belief in Christianity, although, for me? that would be like a cherry on top of a hot fudge ice cream.
For, you see: SAVATAGE was the only musical group who's albums I kept after I became a Christian and read Romans 12:1-2. I got rid of all my CD's! It's ok though, because I've replaced them w/ Christian metal. 5*

They are trans-siberion. check the liner notes! For tso's first few years I could go see savatage live in the summer and tso at christmas Then they fell into tso exclusively with thier solo projects.

Hey all I'm saying is that Jon was pissed when TSO became more popular INSTANTLY than Savatage because he had worked so hard to make Savatage a commercial success. Yes it is beautiful music, but when TSO goes away from christmas music they will fade away. Thats all I'm saying.

The world rejects God, but God does not reject us. As this song says, "all I ask is you believe." There is no doubt this song is written based on the words of Jesus Christ. "I am the way, I am the light"... it's all about the hope of what God offers. This is a great great song. I love it.

this song can apply to anyone of any faith or non-faith. It boggles my mind, but sadly doesn't surprise me how many of you are here bickering like crazy fools over your own respective faith, spirituality or world view.

I can understand that some of you want to keep religion out of this song, but do you honestly think that religion didn't influence the writing of it? The main character of the Streets album is called DT Jesus and Savatage's "side project" Trans-Siberian Orchestra deals with Christmas songs, including many traditional Christian ones.

So what if the listener wants to give a religious meaning (Which is very likely with a song titled Believe)? It's obvious throughout Jon Oliva's work that religion is important to him with the Streets album, Chrismas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24), The Answer song with JOP, and TSO.
Religion causes no more division than atheism and both have committed crimes in the past. So long as everybody respects each other's beliefs there shouldn't be a problem.
