Inspection:Inspect neck from anteriorly-Look for the JVP-Scars of the neck-Enlarged Cervical LN-Goitre.Ask the patient to take a sip of water,Hold it, and then swallow it.Observe the movement of the gland.Ask the patient to stick the tounge out,Look for thyroglossal cyst,3. Palpation:Do tell pt going to feel the neck& Ask for gland tenderness.

  • I agree it great examination,however am confused with the steps.

    she started by checking the thyroid status by assessing the composure then the hand and pulse and beofore complete the status she moved to "thyroid gland examination"!

    thyroid status and thyroid examination are completely different.

    I would think you should start with thyroid gland examination then move or offer to examin the status.

    please correct me if am wrong!!!
