I like how the intro splash screen info is all disjointed. "LT. Solid Snake is a marital arts expert. But enough about that. Here's something completely different." Nick Myer also looks like a damned infant. I don't really think is a bad game, per se. Metal Gear fanboys just hate it because Hideo had nothing to do with it. If it wasn't a Metal Gear game it'd be more popular. It does have really good music though.

The jungle music is the best tune in the whole game. That's the way alot of NES games were. They would start you out with the best tune right in the first stage in order to keep you hooked. I know alot of people hate on this game, but they are just mad because they cannot beat it. This game is like many NES games in the challenge factor, meaning its FREAKIN hard. But still that doesn't take away the fact that Snake's Revenge kicks butt. Its a great side story to the Metal Gear games.

Good game. Much better then nes MG1. Even Hideo Kojima liked this "unauthorized" sequel and this inspired him to make MG2:Solid Snake.

Anyway MSX2 version is still better. But compared to other nes games, this was excellent.

Actually, at the GDC 2009 keynote he said he didn't like either of the NES Metal Gears; the first due to the pointless changes they made, and the second because he had nothing to do with it. So there's been a reversal of opinion over time I guess, hahaha.

Sure - game wasn't approved by Kojima, didn't follow the MGS' storyline and had ridiculous ending, but you gotta adming - the music pretty damn awesome. Treat the game as MGS clone with really good music and save your hate for other crap games (there's plenty) xD

i remember i got this game in 1991 or so and game genie messed it up, made glitchey screen and made it freeze up, it was with all the carts of this game, good luck playing this game without game genie's three wishes rofl

Konami modeled all their gun toting heroes after Stalone and Schwarzenegger, as Bill Rizer in contra is a walking 80s cliche in Neo contras opening cutscene. A big huge gun wielding bad ass , smoking a ciger of course while killing everything in sight haha. Clearly they loved 80s action films.

Actually, the game is pretty decent for a Metal Gear game that Hideo Kojima had nothing to do with. It's HARD, just like Metal Gear 1 and 2 on the MSX Computer.

Completely different games, but yes MSX metal gear 2, solid snake was superior. However if it wasn't for this game to come out, we might have never seen any of the great metal gears passed the first one.

You'd never see this game on any Metal Gear compilation because Kojima had nothing to do with it. Nintendo did it on their own-or rather: Ultra, and it is not a part of the time line. It was a good game though but Kojima called it horrible.

Its funny because both Metal Gear and Snakes Revenge on the NES were extremely popular and well received when they first came out, especially Metal Gear. When MGS came out and people were notified in the instruction booklet that the real Metal Gear games were on the MSX, the NES games suddenly became blasphemy. Honestly, the NES games were the original games in many peoples eyes.
