Prayer doesn't make sense to me. Religious people claim that their god has a wonderful plan that is already determined. Yet these same religious people use prayers to ask there god to alter his/her devine plan for their own benefits. It just seems a bit selfish and contradictory to pray for anything.

He's the only one who was given time for a comment - the other people could have said a lot but the audio was bad (didn't hear what most said due to ambient noise) and the time they were on the screen was very short. I think the last question you asked is a bit flawed. I myself think that prayer is very real and powerful (and not just for the one who is praying). We don't know what these people did/do before or after the rally.... the people at my church do much prayer and even more public service... True change requires prayer and action, in my humble opinion.

How much have you as an individual done to help the victims of Katrina? My organized church full of praying individuals - have collectively given millions of dollars - and have donated thousands of work hours. The church does more than even the government - and it does a heck of a lot more than "The United Utube Church of Drama Queen Atheists".

Glad you brought it up! As far as Katrina goes - I have helped collect canned goods and mre's at different locations around town, including my own neighborhood. I (amoungst others, and yes, atheists) have donated and given our money.

Outside of Katrina, I regularly donate to charities and take part in volunteer work.
