Hitler was not in N.Africa. It was mostly the Wehrmacht there- not many Nazis. It was easy for European armies of both sides to 'recruit' locals in lands they occupied. For all we know, that 'black' Afrika Korps 'soldier' may have been a truck driver/ or supply loader rather than a 'fighter' ; it would be far-fetched to believe he was an actual Nazi- even though Nazi members were sprinkled into the Wehrmacht. By war's end, most of the Waffen SS were 'foreigners'.
