lanyn, not to be rude but what's keeping you from uploading the subbed tales walkthroughs other than tale of rebirth? Because I was having trouble looking for a another subbed walkthrough of the remake.
Hey, lanyn, I just watched this video and noticed that you mentioned you weren't sure about calling Alba "Master" from the Japanese Sensei. What you did was right on, though, with calling him "sir."
I don't know Japanese or anything (except the bits that are most commonly repeated), but I'm studying Chinese and Woodrow uses the kanji 先生 which means "sir" in Chinese.
:)Hey lanyn! I see that you're away from all the "tension" and back in action. I look forward to your subbed playthrough of this awesome game. I have the regular remake not the director's cut of this game and I have only reached up to the aquaveil region. Also I noticed that you didn't know what to refer to Alba as and instead decided to call or refer to him as sir. Would refering to him as "shishou" carry the same weight or would it be the same? Thanks lanyn! :D
Yeah, things have definitely quieted down since last year, so here's to hoping. ^^ As for your question, I'm certainly not an expert or anything, but I believe that shishou is a more specific term than sensei and carries a higher level of respect with it; I translated it as "instructor" and "master" the two times that it was used in the script, which are pretty standard interpretations for the word. In essence though, they are used very similarly in this context. ^^
:P Well I'm no expert either but I see what you mean. I just thought that maybe tristan from phantasia was the same as alba from this game; masters that are revered throughout their specific region or world, seeing as how tristan was regarded as "shishou" in the tales of phantasia psx and psp version. But anyway, I guess they are different in a way. Thanks lanyn and hang in there! :)
Funny you should say that, cause I just completed my ToR import yesterday using her written guide--wouldn't have been able to get through it without you, Ianyn. Thanks so much! :o
Thanks! It was just nice when I was subbing ToR because I wasn't in school at the time and I had a really easy volunteer job (I basically sat around with my laptop when I wasn't soliciting parents in the hospital waiting room ^^;;), so I had a lot more time to sub stuff. Maybe it's a good thing that I slowed down though since I think I'm making fewer mistakes now and getting the characters across better. ^^
