With you all the way. When i started looking back at early Journey there was so many real gems, and this is the best of them, On A Saturday Night a close second.
This album rocks. Side two opens with Hustler. Pure rock that melts your face. Does anyone know what this song's about? I always thought he was talking about hang gliding.
great song, and yes greg rolie is a pretty good singer but if someone need to have a great rock band he need to have vocalist like perry "special person and incredible talent"they probably never be journey like it is today if stephen not come to journey
@2dostone2 Well...let's see. Santana were pretty huge, and Greg was the lead singer...he sang lead on 'Black Magic Woman,' and if you can name a Steve Perry song that is more iconic I'd love to know which one. Don't get me wrong - I don't hate Steve Perry, and personally I was glad when the band had the success that they did - Schon, Valory, Rolie, Dunbar, etc. - but to say that what held them back was Greg Rolie's vocals is just not correct, IMO.
My favorite of the 3 pre-Perry albums, but all three are great. I cannot listen to anything after this because of how the band changed. I'll take Rolie's vocals over Perry's any day of the week.
By far, my favorite pre-Perry Journey song...AND, in my opinion these are the only fans who should really be complaining about the 'sound' of Journey changing.
This is the real "Journey" non commercial progressive rock at it's finest, the first 3 albums are so great, I remember when this and all their other albums were released. What a magical time for great music. I would live my life over again to experience the atmosphere from that time, it was something that has to be lived and felt to be fully understood . The 70's were a great time. Peace My Brothers

@rg2027x.. You're right! This soul-less generation is nothing like the, -snort- 70's disco soul majic - "snort, where's my needle?" generation! (snort snort). How's my fro bro?
You should rethink that memory....

That was the Best era for music - Perry added his own sound to the band, but my favorite Journey years were the pre-Perry also.

Spaceman reminds me of the fun I had living in the San Francisco during the late 70's listening to this song on KSAN and KOME!

@psycom54 Well said. Anyone who say Journey at Winterland before Steve Perry knows exactly what you mean. I do.
