@m1ggyzzz This is not a break up song. Garnet and Zidane still loved each other and it is shown at the ending when he turns out to be alive. I believe this song was meant to be a tribute to Vivi since he is dead when the ending takes place.

@m4kita I do not know for certain but I believe he is dead. All Black Mages made by Kuja have a limited life span most live for only 1-2 years(as is said in game by a Black Mage itself). Vivi is however a prototype one of the first made his lifespan is a little bit longer I believe he was already 2 years old when he joins you. It just seems that he dies considering the nostalgic dialogue in the ending and how someone say "my memory will become part of the sky" assuming he was speaking about...

@Satyr88912 what his friends where saying about him as he was watching them as a soul. I really do not think that was Zidane saying that considering he really is not dead or gone in the end, I mean why would he? It is sad to think of Vivi as dead but it must be the case. I loved Vivi and really wish that he did not have to die.

SPOILER WARNING! @Satyr88912 Now that you mention that, I think you are right, he dies, I remember watching the scene and my hubby making fun of me for been pretty much crying lol I look it up too and in the scene of the end of the game shows the thoughts of Vivi saying goodbye to Zidane and thanks for everything and talks about memories and stuff like that and this song was in the background, so yeah this song is about Vivi, so makes me like the song even more! <3

@m4kita How rude your hubby made fun of you!!! jk lol I really am not a fan of Vivi dieing but oh well. I do agree however that this song is made much more emotional and grand from the perspective of it being about Vivi and his life as well as the meaning of Life it's melody etc. I love FFIX it is one of my top 5 favorite games.
