  • This really helped when i was trying to decide on which whip to buy. thank you for the info :)

  • Show/make a video on how to make a bull whip

  • which whip is better, a nylon bullwhip or a leather bull whip?

  • did you film this with a potato?

  • You're awesome Adam.

    Saknar dig här i sverige.

    Stora pussar och kramar!

    Angela

  • how dow you make a bullwhip

  • Bigswagish

I got one from Richard Jonson you can call him at 813-361-0586 he can make a cow whip bullwhip snake whip and a stock whip I got a 10 foot nylon cow whip fore $128 enclooding shipping

  • is it possible to change the "fall" or whatever you called it XD haha and if so...how? plzzz respond great vid by the way

  • what is the strongest leather for a whip Adam.

  • Hi Mr. Winrich,

I saw you at the TX Ren-fest in 2010. I am very impressed. This year I figured give it a try and see how good I'd be at it. I recent bought a 6 foot leather and 4 plait, red and black bullwhip to start out with. But I was wondering what kind of bullwhip I should get next if I do get good at this. I know this is probably getting ahead of myself, but i wanted a professional's opinion.

  • Mr. Winrich, I actually have a Cowhide whip. but can only do the overhead and the coachmens crack. I have 2 questions.

How do you do the figure 8?

Where do you you buy the leather?

  • how much would it cost for you to make one from kangaroo leather that's 24 plait, 8ft long, is slightly nose heavy, and tapers down to about 6 times smaller than the handle?

  • @drewnickel A lot.

  • @CiscoTheMan wouldn't doubt it, he makes some fine whips, and the materials alone are worth alot, add in the time, effort, and quality he puts into them and it'd probably be in the $300+ range at the very least.

  • @drewnickel Yes he does. The roo would be very expensive, and the length and taper would be a killer for price as well.

  • hello your video is very beautiful. I am Italian but I have always loved the whips do not know where to learn them. you can advise me some video or book or website that explains the basic steps? hello thank you from italy by alessandro

  • too bad this wasn't longer, with a demo of each whip being used. I think i learned more in these three minutes than i have from the last three months lol!

  • man can you make me a bullwhip or tell me the best place to get one cause i need one

  • how long does it take to make a whip?

  • @thebowlzack depends greatly on the characteristics of the whip

  • @1914Sephiroth im talking about the whips that these guys sell for $300 dollars or more. do they average a work-pay.. like 30 dollars an hour..a 10 hour job?? im not sure how they judge the price

  • @thebowlzack an 8' 12 plait whip in kangaroo goes for about $500 . It takes me, who is fairly new to whip making approximately 8 hours to make an 8' 12 plait whip and the materials cost

about $200. That equals $37.5 / hour. A pro selling it for that much could likely complete it

quicker, and probably get the average pay going up to $45.

Whip making requires VERY specific skills that can only be had through thorough practice and much

experience. $45 an hour is reasonable for these skills.

  • @1914Sephiroth wow thanks for the information! and i bet those VERY specific skills make your first few whips less profitable if you are selling them. so sounds like, even if you made your own whip, it would still cost a couple hundred dollars; or you can sell a couple, then make your own for free. funny thing was that i considered buying that EXACT $30 dollar whip off ebay. from this info i have reconsidered, and am now looking at the david morgan $150 nylon whip. your thoughts on that one?

  • @thebowlzack oh the karaka whip right? Yeah I've heard of that, it seems to be pretty good, I would however

suggest that you go the midwestwhips website, and get their Performance Hybrid whip. They are cheaper,

and are not at all overpriced, and I have seen and heard amazing things about them.

I actually kept my first few whips, now I'm selling them and keeping every 5th one to experiment more and

    more. Yeah I don't sell a whip for $500 yet, more like a $500 whip for 250-300

  • @1914Sephiroth you think the david morgan whips are overpriced? i looked for a bit and thats the only website i found (not a lot of effort into my search) besides ebay that actually sold or even manufactured professional bullwhips. im looking at the preformance hybrid nylon whips right now; they look amazing.

they talk alot about being a beginners whip, which i hope means it isnt cheaply made without the crack im lookin for. and can you tell me what a large handle like it has does differently?

  • @thebowlzack longer handle makes a whip easier to use.

If you're searching the web you're not using the right keywords as there are TONS of whip merchants.

  • @1914Sephiroth do you know where i can buy raw nylon to try and make my own for hopeflly not over 80 bucks? like nylon made and cut for making bullwhips?

  • @thebowlzack Well I can tell you where to buy nylon, but it's not cut to the lengths needed for making whips.

I'll let you know from experience, you'll pay more money learning to make whips than buying several whips

made professionally, like for instance I spent about $1150 in making my first two leather whips, which I could

have bought 2 8' 12 plait kangaroo whips professionally made. Granted I love making them, just something

    to think about.

  • @thebowlzack the place to buy is called parachute-cord . com

Google search "rhett whips" if you are wanting a regular bullwhip. The performance hybrid is a very fast

whip that is good to learn on, but if you want a more indy oriented whips go to rhett , he is a good nylon

    whip maker.

  • @1914Sephiroth and this youtube search engine sucks....for some reason i keep getting 1 bullwhip video per 10 runescape videos. what does that game have to do with whips!?!!?!?

  • @1914Sephiroth rather an 8ft synthetic whip-machine braded. not a nylon

  • @thebowlzack Here's something to help you, get on the indy gear forums ( club obi wan ) and once your on

send a private message to the username riku1914 . I can better help you through there.

  • Hi Adam I 'm really interested in buying a whip but I don't know were to find one, if u could tell me about a good website it would be awesome .Thanks. T.

  • hi Adam,

how long has to be the nylon part (cracker?) on the end off theb whip? I thry a lot but it don't work! I have a self made whip, lether, pleace gif me some hints Metalwolfify

  • Dude you rock!!! You are the bullwhip master!!! I want a DM 8 footer...just can't get the dough together...

  • .....imagine my sadness when you pull up the crappy example whip and its the same one i bought.....need a better one....can't....save....money!

  • @bowow0807. If u can overlay it on leather and make one then u can have one hides for making it.

I was going to have a friend have his buddy cover a sword handle and scabbard with them , but I would rather have a whip.

As soon as I get them back from him we can

    Trade. ? Peace .

  • @bowow0807. I got the 2 python hides from my neghbor that had a yardsale. She said her and her husband got them from Africa when they went on vacation. She had 5 of them , but when I got there she had only 2 left. I got them for $25 ea. I was stoked !!!

I saw a 12' one just like mine on eBay for $800.00 and I couldn't believe it. But like u said I don't think they would work being not as thick ( 1/16" at thinnest point ) as reg hides. Ps. I realy like your vids. U da man !

  • Hey Adam. I have 2- 14' python hides , how much would u make me a whip for if I sent u one. It's 14' by 12" wide. Is that enough to make a good whip out of ? Btw the hide is pretty thick for a snake. It would b more for show than used alot. Thanks.

  • @Lvduggo69 im not sure about python hides. most if not all whips are made from nylon paracord, cowhide, or kangaroo hide, try researching about snake hides and if they are eligible for making whips. by the way where in the hell did you find two 14 foot python hides?!?!? if its from dead pets then fine(but i cant even guess how you came to two 14 foot pythons, but if its somewhere else of a unsavory manner then im not sure about you. but my guess it may do for the second belly and overlay but it-

  • @Lvduggo69 -might need to be that the core and the first belly need to be regular hide if there are any problems then im out of suggestions.

  • Your neighbors must hate you so much

  • Can you make a video on whip care because my dad has a whip that is 20 years old and it works but I wish it was more flexible and the popper itself I'd like that $30 whip's fall but works well it's a leather popper instead of a nylon tassel

  • adam could you make a video on how to make a whip that would be amazing cause i have been wanting to make one just to say that i made my own.

  • adam... ur hot

  • @legojoe9 In most cases yes,but it all does rely on the taper of the whip,if it tapers evenly and gets slimmer towards the fall, it will cut through the air with less drag resulting In less effort to swing it and break the sound barrier.

  • 1:04 i bought that exact same bull whip at my local feed store!

so if the end of the whip is REAL skinny will it crack louder?

  • I'd love to see someone try to burgle this guy's house. They would come back out with no head.

  • Hey I was looking at getting my first whip and I was looking at a nylon dube 7ft whip... But I'm still not sure if you have any suggestions on where to by ( online) and what to buy.... But I only want to spend a max of 100$

  • hey adam where can i buy a nylon whip cracker ?

  • i like the vid but can u put a video showing how to make a bullwhip?

  • hey Adam, I was Wondering Are Leather or Nylon whips better? and are all whips that look like that in 1:12 not very good please respond thanks in advance

    -Cordell

  • I started to get into bullwhip... I bought a costume one just for practice so I don't loose an eye early... But I want a whip with a LOUD crack... anyone know what kind of bull/stock whip would be good for a starter who wants a LOUD CRACK!?

  • @OpethPennywise 6 foot david morgan kangaroo hide bull whip

  • @thatguru877 I should of said i didn't want to spend 500 dollars on my first whip.

  • @OpethPennywise umm ebay just be careful

  • could you post a video on how to do the braid or plait thats on the david morgon whip?

  • Comment removed

  • Oh Adam, marry me.

  • @6maxinator9 YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!

  • can u make a video of how u wrap the whip around u between cracks?

  • 1. go to 0:00 and pause

    2. Hold the left arrow button, then press the up arrow button.

    3. play snake.

    4. Thumbs up if this worked!

  • if i asked you to make me a good bull whip how much would it cost? and could you sign it?

  • @JMAC191 I could make you a good bullwhip, but it would be expensive.

  • @AdamCWM around how much would you say?

  • @JMAC191 well, the last whip I sold on Ebay went for $285

  • @AdamCWM ah ok what kind of material do you use? just leather or what. Um and what whip is your fav and are they good for cracking? what one would you suggest for cracking and grabbing stuff?

  • @AdamCWM I noticed there wan't another reply to this Xp

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... hey Adam! Can you post a vid about how to make a good bull whip, especially on the weaving and braiding portions? I live in the Philippines and this "Rodeo Club" makes their own bull whips for competition and stuff. They make them from nylon rope and bamboo. I just want to know how the best does it.

  • great videos adam really infomative. just a small question im wondering about the nylon bullwhip you made thats in this vid what is the length and the overlay plait count? just wonder because its a really cool looking whip thanks and again really great vids

  • @bushrob411 It's 7 1/2 ft long, 24 plait handle and a 20 plait thong.

  • @AdamCWM hey your the whip guy from time warp

  • Adam,

A good camera is a cassia exilm fh 100 I think

It might be fh something else but it takes high speed video up to 1,000 frAmes and also takes 720p HD in non high speed mode

On my YouTube page I have a two videos where I used the highspeed function

In my opinion it's a great camera

Oh and it takes 40 pictures in one second non video in highspeed burst

Or if you wanna get extremely high quality you can get something ungodly expensive like the cannon 5d mark 2

  • What's your eBay name please?

  • @Seddiefan31 winricah (That's the first six letters of my last name followed by my first and middle initial, which was my college ID)

  • @AdamCWM thanks I found it. :-)

  • Another informative video. Thank you Adam. Do all of these rules apply to fire whips as well? Also, are you making fire whips? If not, who do you suggest?

  • @truckerspike With fire whips it's a different matter as you're also worried about something soaking up and holding fuel. A thicker point on a fire whip means it'll hold more fuel and stay lit longer. I get my fire whips from firewhip (dot) com

  • Are you making whips for the public anymore ?

  • @Seddiefan31 I will be selling a few whips I've made on Ebay this month (January). There's one up there now.

  • the one at 1:02 looked like mine. that one broke so i got a new one =). also can you make a video on how to make a cracker?

  • @creep426 Any recommendations? Right now I've got a Nikon Coolpix s51. I have a feeling the newer digital cameras take better video.

  • @AdamCWM a Vado HD is what I use for my higher quality videos. or a Flip. a new Flip is around $120 - $200 depending on what you get. Older Vado which I have is selling around $80 now and a new one is $140. I love your videos BTW I will enjoy them even more with a better quality camera.

  • 2:20 what did you say there? Latigo? Uh... Help, Adam? lol.

  • @Physhi yeah, I probably said latigo, that's what the fall is made from on the Morgan bullwhip.

  • @AdamCWM Thankya.

  • @AdamCWM and that's the general name for whips in spanish

  • that red whip you showed we sexy lol how much would one like that cost

  • @crazy9516 I'd sell that whip for $300. It had two plaited bellies, the outside is 20 strands and the handle has 24 strands.

  • @AdamCWM 12 in handle?

  • @crazy9516 it's a 13 inch handle

  • what do you use for handles?

  • helped so much

  • good video from what i saw. it sucks livin in the middle of nowhere when you wanna watch a youtube vid. i let this video load for 3 hours and i only got 1:54 loaded. and i don't even use dial up!

  • @Tarzan07330 man i feel bad for you seriously.

  • @TheSoutherncracker yeah, it sucks. so much for "high speed" that they advertise. whatever. i have fast internet when i'm at college, just not home.

  • Good Bro!!!

  • Thanks for posting! Love your vids!

  • you should show the difference between each whip to show what you mean.

    awesome vid

  • @1911fan181 I'm not sure what you mean.... do you mean crack each whip? Other than that I thought I explained the differences between each whip in the video, or at least the differences that I wanted to point out.

  • @AdamCWM ya that ,sorry needed to of explained further

  • lol i totally have that $30 whip i made it pretty loud after a lot of practice, i wanna try with a good one to see how loud i can get one of those to go

  • so i got one for xmas. it is modeled after the indy bullwhip, but not exactly the same. it came with a cracker that is about 5 in long, and is pretty thick. all i have is masons twine, so is there a way for me to make a better cracker? or should i just buy one?

  • @Twoyoudude I have always made crackers for my whips and my fathers whip. I use simutalted sinew. i usually braid about 7 inches and leave 1 and a half to 2 inches at the end to fray. hope this helps.

  • @ma53550 does the sinew last longer than mason line? Because I always used mason line for crackers.

  • @SuperWario094 Im not sure about the masons line, i have never used it, but what i like about the sinew is that is it coated in bees wax and depending on how often the whip was used i only had to replace the cracker like once or twice ever 2 yrs.

  • @Twoyoudude mason line will work fine. when i measure out my crackers i take the tip of the mason line and go from the joint in my arm around my middle finger and back to the joint to make sure that i make the same lenght of cracker each time.

  • @Twoyoudude david king of coyote whips has a tutorial on how to make 'thin' crackers from nylon mason line if not you could use nylon or poly thread

  • Do you like Indiana Jones?

  • 2:52 lol sounded like he said crapper

  • I have been watching your videos for quite a while now, I really enjoy them.

Just wanted to say thanks and I hope you have a Awesome New Year.

  • I really need help on tapering with nylon whips and the core can you help please?

  • @jigglypuff1337 in particular i need help with dropping strands i keep getting gaps or lumps and i don't know when to cut off the dropped strands. Thanks, 5*s :)

  • @jigglypuff1337 I myself drop strands one at a time, and I drop just before the braiding starts bunching up, which helps avoid gaps. I carry the dropped strand in the core until I drop the next strand, so once I've started dropping strands I always have one extra strand in the core. Getting a good taper in the core is learned from experimentation, experience, and studying other whips.
