The human race is likely to go extinct way before it was to threaten the existence of the earth. It's pretty conceited to think the human race has the power to overcome the planet. It's more resilient than that. Do you think God would have designed the system to be so unstable? You have no confidence in nature.

The responsibility is left on someone else who you don't watch and make sure is doing the right thing.
Corporations will blame you & me & never themselves.
