Clearly he was in a rush and should not have to worry about buses crashing through a red light and traffic which has STOPPED. Any person would've crossed the road like he did. The bus was about 50 metres away and yes it was travelling fast but you assume it will stop eventually.

How often do you encounter a bus with no brakes? I can't think of one person who checks the road twice when the green man tells you to cross.
