  • "The type and formula of most schemes of philanthropy or humanitarianism is this: A and B put their heads together to decide what C shall be made to do for D. The radical vice of all these schemes, from a sociological point of view, is that C is not allowed a voice in the matter, and his position, character, and interests, as well as the ultimate effects on society through C's interests, are entirely overlooked. I call C the Forgotten Man.

    - William Graham Sumner

  • Himes healthcare takeover already has massive cost overruns. It was to cost only $788 billion. Since March, the price has risen by $115-125 billion, according to the CBO.

Only in DC does one encounter the phrase only $788 billion. Only with followers such as Himes can Pelosi pass laws first and admitting to the costs later. Only if the voters return Himes to DC will we get more of the same: fraudulent accounting of the costs of his votes, wasteful spending, and taxpayer abuse.

  • We are going to shut this country down Were going to stop paying taxes Stop buying products! We are going to let the left do what they want all on their own Goodluck!

  • More tax cuts for the top 1 percent and let's start a couple more fake wars and leave the cost of those off of the books. That's the only true way to return our country back in the direction it was on. What's this do the sane ration common sense approach thing all about. The wealthy need more tax cuts, third world countries need us to invade them for no appearent reason. Wake up congress! Someone in Ecuador farted and I'm sure there's a Texan that feels threatened.

  • It's all theater.

Check commerce clause. Any 1L (that's 1st year law student) that's taken con law can tell you: the commerce clause has never been interpreted to, and the US Supreme Court has not shown any inclination to, force anyone to purchase something.

  • The Commerce Clause, though interpreted overly broad, only permits the federal government to legislate regarding the channels, instrumentalities and activities of interstate commerce...it has never been interpreted (as it would be unconstitutional) to FORCE a person to purchase something. A STATE can require purchasing vehicle insurnace but the FED has LIMITED powers. The STATE would have to require citizens to purchase health care (e.g. MA). The FED does NOT have this power.

  • Jimmy,

Nothing wrong with looking after our own, but we are tired of looking after you and your owners.

A former banker turned green globalist with moral obligation? to whom?

  • MORE GOVERNMENT NOW!!

GOVERNMENT ALWAYS WORKS!! GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS ARE ALWAYS STAFFED BY THE VERY BEST!!

Just because the bill was literally written by private health insurance companies and big pharma DOES NOT mean that they're going to destroy any possible competition...oh wait, it does.

HELL WITH IT! DESTROY ALL COMPETITION BY GOVERNMENT PROPPING UP ITS OWN BUDDY HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES!!

LESS COMPETITION NOW!! MORE GOVERNMENT-ENDORSED LIMITED INSURANCE OPTIONS!!

  • Socialism for the USA now !

  • Great Speech.

  • Stop paying taxes End of socialism!

  • Yes.. YOU stop paying taxes... and get the fuck out of our "society"

  • @2bRealist sorry bud, but you really have no idea what your talking about, :(

  • @BeantownJim

pull ur head out of your ass and learn

    what socialism is/means.

i can't wait for the day that oil, power, and communications

are nationalized...then we'll talk about socialism.

this pussy health insurance overhaul is nothing.

easily manipulated retards like yourself need

to wake up and get an education.

  • Hear hear, Congressman Jim Himes! So well said! Everyone deserves free universal health care as a right of being a human being! Hell, convicted murderers on death row are given free health care in fucking America! Are regular people worse than them?!

  • @JixMa firstly no one should be forced to buy a shitty product, whats next? will they make me buy their shitty cars? I prefer that the gov't get the fuck out of our lives.

  • Well if you have a job.. there are deductions to your pay check.. and in some places.. when you buy something you also pay for something else.. a tax..

So if you really really want Government out of your life.. stop paying taxes.. and get out of our democratic society.. you don't fit in

  • lmao, good call

  • @JixMa

    Everyone deserves healthcare?

What about everyone deserving to refuse pay for a service?

  • Then stop using the emergency room.. 911.. Police assistance.. fire department.. and GET OFF THE STREETS!

  • @2bRealist

I would love to stop paying taxes and live in a society where services are provided by different private firms. Communities can choose between different firms, break up contracts when firms go bad. The best firms will get the most contracts and will force them to keep supplying optimal service.

If I don't want fire department, I move to an area where fire department is not a required fee.

    Yes, fees, not taxes.

    Taxation is extortion.

    Washington DC must be fragmented.

  • The health care isnt free! Its gonna cost a SHIT LOAD in everyones taxes. And its mandatory to have health care or your breaking the law if this passes.

  • Comment removed

  • illegal aliens get free health care. Why can't I get free health care too?

  • What happens then? Another great depression! How will your hero fix that?

  • @LifeIsGood63 No were already in a depression and its only going to get worse. Ron Paul wants to cut taxes by %50 and get rid of all the useless programs in the federal government. He also wants to end the drugwar by legalizing and regulating. Also pull out of other countrries because we cant afford war. Then our economy will boom once business gets a backbone again. Check him out, I hope you vote for him because I think hes the last honest person in the government.

  • I know what he wants to do. I respect that. Yet 10's of millions will be out of work and will lose everything. His process will not be that simple. I know we have to do it. Yet, I want to know the plan to circumvent people starving to death. This recovery would take years. The weak will die. Anyone who knows how to survive will be OK. Yet, In this day of electronics who will be left? I may vote for him. God, Help us all..

  • @LifeIsGood63 Its not like he would end the ENTIRE fed, just programs we dont need that just waste money. 10's of millions will be out of work when this economy crashes anyways, which isnt that far off. If we dont do something to boost confidence into our economy soon it could mean the end of the US. I think Pauls ideas could be that boost, imo :D

  • "We will send men and equipment to put out that fire..."

"The people pay for that equipment and are those men and women"

"If an assailant enters your home, we will send men and equipment..."

The people have the rights to bear arms and defend themselves. The people pay for those equipment and are those men and women.

    "We might look after you."

The government is already looking at you with the patriot act and all their privacy violation acts.

  • Touche, sir. Well said.

  • @slumlord2007 I 2nd

  • thats why we you should be for single payer

which will put it at a local level,

this has nothing to do with the fed either.

  • LMAO @ everything corporate-run. FUCK THE HMOs.

  • Id rather have corps around than big government, corps cannot tell you how you must live. We need to go back onto a State level and give the people their rights back. Legalize it too!

  • More, more tax cuts! No corporation should have to pay for anything!

If you are poor or had bad luck, or were screwed over, then you deserve to die! That's the American way!

Of course these greedy corporations will make health care cost less than a government willing to operate it at cost like a system that works like in Canada. :)

  • @yoink80

Corporations are chartered by the State and given many legal rights as an entity.

The govt and their socialized medicine bill will make only State-approved providers to be able to provide legally. That certainly and mostly includes corporations.

    You've got it mixed up.

You're heading towards the abyss thinking it's an oasis.

  • You're brainwashed. Go visit Canada. or any other developed country and see the reality. The evil "socialized medicine" works. It SAVES money, STRENGTHENS the economy, and IMPROVES health care outcomes. I live in Canada, and anyone who's been here can tell you that everything you have heard about our system is simply flat out lies and we do not have rationing of care any more than you do and our quality of care is BETTER than yours. Get out of the house and away from the TV!

  • @yoink80

Whether socialized medicine works or not is not my point.

Other countries do no engage in nation building or invade other countries.

The US is broke and spends too much, socialized medicine wont fucking work, stop being so capricious about it. Why don't worry about ending the ongoing wars and closing the several military bases overseas?

Don't be a hypocrite please, you want health for Americans but undermine the death of foreigners funded through your taxes.

  • @asperin

Yes, the US should leave the countries it has invaded... that is just common sense.. of course .. but that is just a failed attempt at an ad hominem argument.

The US is broke, which is why it should adopt socialized medicine. This will lower the deficit & debt and strengthen the economy, which will lead to greater individual freedoms for everyone, just like Jefferson and and the other forefathers would have wanted. You have your facts backwards.

  • @yoink80

    Failed ad hominem attack?

Which one was the personal attack?

    None.

    Ad hominem attacks are different.

My point is correct, you're a hypocrite.

You want the same people who make war to give you healthcare miracles.

My facts backwards? Backwards from your Keynesian reasoning.

Because it's the status quo it doesn't mean it's fair.

When your system fails again perhaps you will not escapegoat any of the politicians and become 100% pro-liberty.

  • Thats my man... Thank You

  • wow....dude, has his shit together....

  • bravo!!

  • Lets take care of our own country and it's citizens. Lets close all overseas military bases. Lets get all illegal aliens out of our country and make it a bit harder (sarcasm) on legal aliens to work here. Lets see to our citizens first before wasting time, effort and treasure on others that invariably turn out to be as grateful and loyal as a Major league baseball player. Time to take care of America and Americans first.

  • yeah please lets join the civlized nations.
