  • @Pooptality The cameraman was Dan Linton, owner of a hugely successful BBS called Software Creations.

haha stupid sht watch em die

look at em his holdin onto his throat!

  • somebody should visit them again!

  • "bits!" -John Romero

  • And so... deathmatch smacktalkin' was born

  • "look at the bits left in the slime"

  • Suck it down, monkey shit!

  • DooM turned the wooden box into a exploding barrel!

  • hmmm. I thought the Doomguy OUCH face was a programming error in the code itself. How come there is OUCH face displayed at 2:35????

  • @Arrinao

Well, no, that's actually how it SHOULD have worked. The "ouch face" itself was not a programming error, only the code which displayed it was faulty. Originally it should've been displayed in the status bar anytime the player lost more than 20% health in one hit. Yet they messed up the code. Thus in the final version it only shows up each time the player GAINS more than 20% health (e.g. by collecting a medikit) while suffering damage at the same time (by enemy fire or damaging floors)

  • oh man they enjoy it so much :D

  • Those were the days :3

  • I love watching them explain the bugs and watching his reaction to how his program works. Truly inspiring.

  • absolutelly precious video material of historical value!!!

Sooo great seeing the developers playing their own game which is STILL one of my absolutelly most favorite games. :)

  • chainsaw with bullets. talk about something NOT yet invented.

  • 5:50 "screw you faggot!"

  • didn't they use a mouse to play?

  • Doom rund on my computer with FPS: 600, wonder how much slower this is :)

  • @ReioStudio Those old school comps werent made for gaming so imagine playing call of duty MW 2 on a gamecube

  • ah, good times. remember how Quake (first truly 3D game from ID) would barely run on 2D cards (2D cards!!!), and was awesome on 3D hardware. oh, man.

  • OOO right in the face!!

  • @Ajeel06

    uhh no they're not

  • @Ajeel06 There wasnt anything like this out then! You gotta think in terms of going from dungeon master to this in a few years. Mind boggling.

  • ur ignorent shut up

  • I like how the chainsaw makes bullet sounds. haha.

  • Carmack and Romero were gaming ingenuity and inventiveness GOLD.

Though VALVe (and Bioware) rule(s) actual game production, as there's substance beyond mechanics and rasterization/control mechanics.

Almost like Carmack/Romero should be developing the gaming libraries and API's for game developers worldwide, perhaps in conjunction with Microsoft and console developers.

You'd have amazing application of Carmack's API and graphics/optimization expertise equipping developers worldwide for ages =D

  • agreed on everything except your first sentence... they ARE gaming ingenuity and inventiveness GOLD

  • ..Rockets...

  • And notice in the Deathmatch rounds that Shawn has the Shotgun. Another Doom song inspiration, Mr. Prince! :D

  • Bobby Prince is legend!

  • You bet he is!

  • That is so awesome, the song that is playing in the DooM game is called "Waiting for Romero to Play" and it is Map 18 of Doom2's music. Plus, Romero IS playing! :D

  • The doom guy couldnt even sink into the ground when he was being crushed yet! man its so weird to see how many glitches they removed

  • Ok Id I will always respect you but in this version of Doom the level designs and impballs were so much better well i dont know i like the new ones in the most recent version but anyway the music choices should have stayed the same i think. But all i can say now thank you so much

  • I jacked off to this video.

  • O.O

omg i'm so happy seeing those!

and there's a spider-mastermind sound effect at the end of the credits ^_^

  • :3 yay for mastermind lol

  • "haha stupid shit.....watch him die" lol.

  • 09:41 - What's the music and who is author?

  • sounds like a remix of tower of babel level dunno

  • this is the best 1993 videos of Id software i ever seen!!!

  • @idsoftwarelover91 yeah, finally a DooM enthusiast can know how it is Romero Playing the DooM. It was made public by himself, I wish he would release more videos!

  • @BuddhaMaster84 yeah many maps are created by him...

it is good, he is a very smart map designer.
