  • God that is some song. He never made one that wasn't out of this world.

  • I loved him. He was and is a great inspiration to my life although I have had the holy ghost 36 years and do not play for a living.

  • My dad was lucky enough to know him. I have a 8x10 on my wall of the two of them.

  • my wife and i went to concert at disney world in the mid 70's he sang all of bigest hits and afterwards he walked up the steps and shaked everyones hand.i never will forget how humble he was.I love all of his songs. I sing some of them @ my live shows and always sing My Woman, My Woman ,My Wife to my wife of 43 years.

  • Holy crap, what a song and a performer. He is very much missed.

  • Marty wrote this song for his wife, Marizona, while recovering from his first heart attack. They were a true love story. He sang it to her at every performance until his death. I admired and loved him dearly.

  • Lucky woman. ..

and how lucky are we to get to enjoy this 40 years later.

  • Marty was one of the Greatest Singers of all time

  • What a Gentleman he was. I grew up listening to Marty Robbins and all the great Country Artists on the Grand Ole Opry. You can tell he was a favorite with the audience also, by the enthusiastic applause after his songs.

I love My Woman My Woman My Wife, but I think my very favorite song is Big Iron. My hubby and I love singing along to his Gunfighter Ballads

  • Marty Robbins will never be forgotten. His singing voice & songs were just magic. He used to come to The Wembley Festival in London for years & a Trophy was dedicated in his memory.I am proud to say I met the man.

    Thanks for this.

    Margaret

  • One word will suffice; Brilliant!

  • In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful written in the 20th century by one of the it's greatest singer / song-writers. I remember when Marty died there was barely a mention in the L.A. Times (SHAME ON THE TIMES).

  • It just does not get any better than that.....What a voice.....a true LEGEND that will never be matched .......period!!!!!

  • Loved all you mentioned, dont leave out Vern

  • They don't make em like Marty anymore. We miss you man. My mom raised me on you, Elvis, Conway, Hank, George and Merle!

    KC LIVE

  • Why this guy has never received the acclaim his undoubted greatness deserves is a a mystery to me. He was undoubtedly one of the greatest singers of the 20th Century, his songwriting was second to none, he had charisma by the truckfull. He was just a once in a lifetime talent revered by his peers and fans alike.

  • As only Marty Robbins could deliver. He's still my favourite singer.

    Marty Kay, Shillong, Meghalaya, India

  • always my favorite singer too. thanks for being another marty fan.

  • Made my eyes water, this is so beautiful. I miss you Marty and your beautiful velvet voice. R.I.P.

  • very beautiful --thanks

  • marty rocks

  • This song just makes you want to cry.

  • Marty truly loved his wife, and made comments about it many times. So when he sang this song, it was real.

  • this is how much elvis loved marty robbins devil woman was wrote for elvis. and he said give it to marty robbins and marty had a hit with it. so marty wrote you gave me a mountain and gave it to elvis they really liked each other and respected one another!!!

  • danjan223: I saw Marty and Elvis together on stage in New Orleans about 1956 in a Grand Ole Opry Road Show. They both sang "That's all Right Mama." Marty was the headliner, Elvis just a newcomer, who had on red trousers and suspenders and the young girls in the audience just went wild. I was more of a Marty Robbins fan, though, went to see him, not Elvis.

  • His Pink Carnation was our 9th grade grad song, His sense of humor, his Memories just won't die. Diane Class of 1960 Hinton ok.

  • I love Marty Robbins one of the greatest ever!

  • This has to be the greatest tribute to a partner in life.I am an Elvis fan,all i had ever heard of Marty Robbins were the gunfighter ballads until i came to youtube.Hearing this, it is plain to see this man was just as accomplished a vocalist as Elvis and obviously influenced his own approach to singing. Top marks to a top entertainer!!!!!

  • You can be an Elvis and still be a fan of other singers, and - in particular - such gentlemen as Marty here. Thanks to You Tube, Elvis fans - and fans of other artists - are discovering that there were other great vocalists. Many of them vocalists Elvis enjoyed himself.

  • I totally agree about being a fan of many different artists and genres, even. I love all music and am addicted to youtube. My step father bought the album for this particular song which he played in honor of my Mother. What a trip down memory lane this one is. Thank you so much.

  • A brilliant, heartfelt performance by Marty. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Wow, how moving. Tears in the eyes.

  • marty robbins is best singer i have heard in my live my sister sharon rip loved his songs she passed away at 25 years old 2 years ago she was and always will be my best friend``mary``

  • My heart and prayers go out to you and your family, such a painful loss. I understand why she loved him. He is a sweet and humble, God-Loving soul. Know he sings to her every day, for they, as you know, are in the same Beautiful Place. Warmth to you!

  • The fabulous Marty Robbins. How I wish that the current crop of "country singers" were half as good as him and Jim Reeves,George Jones,Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynne, etc

  • Fantastic!!!!A fine example of TRUE talent!!!!

  • once again thanks so much montreal for posting these great marty songs

  • I agree with you Tarquin and CaptSato this man must be a gift of God for how much talent he had.

  • This proves what an absolutely great singer Marty was. He seems to write songs that will often test his vocal abilities to the full, but he handles them with ease.

It's ROBBINS by the way montreal.

  • I stand corrected, Thanks

  • The lyric of this song are wonderful,

    also "Wonderful" singing ability.

    Thank you for nice posting.

  • nice song :)
