Ive been looking all around for a gents siren, but obviously they are hard to come by these days lol, really want one. Ive only got two klaxon models at the moment
This is a cool siren, I hate raining on people's parade, but just a little advice, you might not want to test it if it's cloudy or rainy, because people might think there's a tornado warning or something.
urr damn rite... I HAVE always wanted a siren since i was a kid.. dont ask me why, even i have no idea. but theres something about the WW2 british sirens that somehow sends a tingle down my spine!!
Just had a thought, if you could connect all your sirens together, and place them a few hundred feet apart, it will sound like the warning in the middle of London during WW2!!!
Hi phil, is that the gent siren that was on ebay a few weeks back? I was about to bid on it and it suddenly disappeared lol well done if it is...it's gone to a good home.
That end plate is very shiny as it has a mirrored effect. Wasnt lame at all, was a nice bit of slow running! I noticed the wind down... means you get more for your money!

beutiful siren. Looks like you did an excellent job of restoring it. Would love to hear it at full power once you get it all wired up properly.

I'll bet there are gonna be men in uniforms who want to talk to you if you set em off in London.

So it was a wye motor to begin with? Why did they rewind it to delta?
douro20 4 years ago
The only reason i can think of,was when there was a
maintenance and overhall program of the siren system in the late 60s ands early seventies when they found that a lot of them didnt work.
Or it could have been just to ease the burden of getting the sirens to start possibly an overstretched
three phase supply?.

i second that as i have three coming my way

I thought these sirens were rare? they seem to be re-appearing!
Awesome clip, about as loud as mine can get with a drill.
Nice long wind down, mine takes ages to stop even at a slow speed!
looking forward to the legendary Air Raid Alert signal!
danwisbey85 4 years ago
Hey Dan,This was running at one fifth power which was realy just to get the windings moving.
Again they are rare but it is just a question of being quick as they are tucked away in various parts
of the country, and is a matter of hunting them down
and brandishing a wad of dosh at the owner. (i did)
!Get your siren restored
Take care phil

VERY TRUE
crownhill 4 years ago
This was a very lame attempt but at least the exercise to get her running was a success, and we know what she will do on full power.
This one has a very long wind down which is eerie.
crownhill 4 years ago
At least you got her running up! But I did think today wouldn't be good for you as it totally pissed it down! Get your drill out!
