  • leason about reality to everyone, if a show stays for 10 friggin seasons, like it or not, its a good show.

  • @jeremycards Smallville was the best of the TV shows. This show probrably would've gone past four seasons, if DC hadn't pulled the plug on it. ABC was getting "Lois & Clark" ready and that's why DC ended it. Gerard Christopher auditioned for "L&C" and won they part. Then, they fired him, when they found out he played Superboy. He told me this personally, when I talked to him.

  • I watched this show as a kid. I thought "Superboy" should have been calling himself "Superman" by the third season! He already had a job in an office!

  • 'and the desire to help all mankind'

nice to hear that instead of that ancient 'and the american way' thing that was so hot in the 30s... jeez... try using that today, it'd be difficult branding him as a HERO LOL

  • As bad as this looked to be, I'd still rather watch this than emo Smallville.

  • superboy that was great movie =)

  • It's almost funny how they show Superboy flying in front of an American flag yet don't have the nuts to use the words "the American Way" - those kinds of gutless, knee-jerk liberals give the rest of us a bad name.

  • @grumpybags Seems the Salkinds had some brains - the american way doesnt exactly stand for truth or justice anymore, does it?

'Sides the show had to sell globally - all shows have to, or they wont make money.

  • @hcvang I'm a two-fisted liberal, but "The American Way" in the context of Superman is both an aspirational ideal devoid of political meaning, and a pop cultural idiom in and of itself.

Removing it just seems like a dick move.

  • does anyone know if you can get all the seasons on dvd in the uk.............

  • @lurch3678 You cannot.

  • I was old enough to watch this show when it aired. And I've always been a huge Superman fan all my life. How come I've never heard of this show until now??? What station did it air on?

  • It was syndicated.

  • @valkur8 I remember it first airing on NBC-channel 4 in my city, then by the third season I believe it was moved to WWOR-channel 9, and syndication...WWOR no longer exists, it has since become UPN.

  • This is better than Smallville. You watch a couple eppies of Smallville, you turn into a girl.

  • @flapdoodle64 You've gotta be kidding! This cheezy shit? Smallville is so much better than this and it isn't even close.

  • @Coltfighter Smalllville is a soap opera - it's fine for what it is, but this is what every kid would watch after shool for 4-5 years when it was on. I dont see any kids watching Smallville, and it's a shame that networks only cater to lovesick girls and produce stupid soaps, instead of also making room for genuine kids adventure shows like in the old days.

IMO Smallville is much more cheesy than this show is - Clark constantly trying to hook Lana just gets so fucking dreary after 5 episodes.

  • @hcvang

Smallville is much cheesier than Superboy? You got to be fucking kidding me. Smallville has a lot better writing in it, props, effects, etc. Yeah it was a soap opera when Lana Lang was around but now it's all action, Sci-Fi, and emotions! Anyways Lana finally left the show. Season 10 is the best season yet!

  • @hcvang

Clark is finally fulfilling his destiny (even he is not completely evolve as Superman yet but he is getting there and oh yes he finally has the Superman suit but can't put it on yet), he is finally with Lois Lane and she knows his secret, and going to ask her to marry him, now he is more involve with the Justice League/Justice Society, etc! Pretty much all his villains have appeared on the show including Darkseid! Yeah it's all a girl show. Dude you are a load of crap.

  • @TheStarTreker hey, i dont mind you loving soap operas, but dont bitch to me because it makes you question your sexuality.

  • @hcvang

Yeah whatever. Someone that obviously hasn't really watch Smallville just the seasons with Lana Lang and continues trash it and wants to include an insult. Also someone that obviously prefers to watch a very poor budget, written, acting show that only had 4 seasons. Hahaha.

I prefer Christopher Reeve's Superman, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Superman The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Smallville over Superboy any day.

  • @TheStarTreker 9 seasons of smallville in, and I havent seen 'em? unfortunately I have to stay current... and while I enjoy it, I prefer this to Smallville. Live with it, friend - it's not gonna change.

Chris Reeves Superman is immortal, ofcourse you prefer him over this. No matter how much you and I bitch at one another, this is still just a cheap tv product compared to Reeve's movies.

  • @TheStarTreker 4 seasons ain't bad for a show with suck a low budget.. And the acting wasn't that bad although a preffered the guy who played Clark/Superboy during the first season. Gerard Chrisopher's Superboy was too affeminated while his Clark too nerdish

  • @hcvang

About you actually watch the whole show before you completely trash it, bash it, or criticize it.

  • @TheStarTreker 9 seasons of that lovefest compared to the adventure series we're looking at here... yeah, i still have to go with the kids show.

  • @flapdoodle64 You watch a couple of episodes of superboy you turn into a panzy.

  • @superjoel01 Good thing watching Smallville already turned you into a girl, now you can watch as much Superboy as you want and not worry.

  • @flapdoodle64 oooh good comeback

  • man i remember being a kid on sat just sitting down in front of the tv watching this show. wow

  • did Clark ever find out he is from Krypton on this show. and did Lois or Kara ever come on the show.

  • lois and kara never came on this show lol this isnt smallville.

  • No, this show had nothing to do with Superman/Superboy rights issues.

The Salkinds (producers who made the Superman movie) decided to try TV after their attempt at a new Supergirl movie franchise failed with the 1984 movie.

The show was quite successful, and a film version was even planned with Superboy (Gerard Christopher) becoming Superman. But then the Salkinds lost the Super-rights when Warners bought them all back when the idea for the 'Lois & Clark' TV series started.

  • i had a massive crush on stacy haiduk.

  • Love this theme Kevin (Kinner) also did music for Star Trek

  • UM, isnt SuperBoy CONNER KENT? Clark is SuperMan... Can someone explain or is this a terrible mistake on this shows part. Conner is Superboy and he is a clone of Clark with Lex's Human DNA. Am I wrong? What show is this that claims superboy is Clark in the intro?

  • @jonvcan The show's about Clark when he was Superboy. It was more in tune with the many Superboy tales told from the late 40s through 1985 long before Connor Kent (formally Kon-El) and the Death of Superman stuff ever came into the picture.

  • does anyone know where i can get Superboy seasons 2-4 on DVD?

  • Comparing all the Superman versions and Superboy/ Smallville is a waste of time. You have different time frames (1940's to 2010), you have different actors, different special effects and different writers. If the TV and movie writers were to stay true to the comic books, the stories would be boring and we would already know where they were going because we already read the comic books. Allow each new incarnation to stand or fall on its own merit, in its own time.

  • Oh, this show only existed because they could not get the rights to do a live action Superman television show at the time (not until 1993 when Lois and Clark came around) The show ultimately failed with fans due to some of the reasons Smallville has. It did not know what it wanted to be. After Crisis on Infinite Earths, there never was a Superboy. Post Crisis Superman is better betrayed in the sappy Lois and Clark show. This show would have been great if he could have just been Superman instead

  • Smallville is a Garbage show that will die this season. It's horrible writing, acting, and confusion on which era of the Superman Story it wishes to follow has turned this into nothing more than a superpowered infused soap opera with dreadful plot development. How many knocks to the head will a character take this week? Season's 1 and 2 were enough for me. They jumped the shark every season after. Same with Lois and Clark as well as the 50's Superman. I'll be happy to see Smallville go..

  • i kinda have to agree with u on that a lil. i still like smallville but they really did jump the shark on that show. i havent been watching the show that long. i think when john kent died is when i started watching it. but it's like no fighting, no real costume and calling himself the blur is just retarded as hell. too much of the story changed and killing lex cuz the dude who played him left was fucked up. and now all u see is green arrow over and over agian

  • @thebuckrogers22 yeh they need to bring lex back to smallville, just cos rosenbaum is a douche doesnt mean the character cant return, just recast, i doubt anyone really cares, just say he had surgery, worked for superboy season 1 lex to the future seasons lex

  • @ChristovBelmont That and using other DC heroes knowing that they'll never use Batman and Wonder Woman. I'm suprised they didn't bother using the mermaid girlfriend Lori Lemaris.

  • Look people let's stop comparing Superboy with Smallville It was a good show it's not fair to judge something that was made 20yrs ago is like Compaing the 1940's Superman to the 1950's superman or Chris superman to Dean's.We should just be thankful that since 1965 we had a superman show or show's movie's in production. I would love to see this show on DVD but as more time pass I don't think it's gonna happen until Warner & DC do what's right with the family .

  • This show was O.K., but Smallville is the Superman / Superboy TV show that rocks. The Adventures of Superman lasted only six seasons. Superboy and Lois and Clark both lasted only four. Smallville is going on season nine. It has outlasted all the other live action Superman TV shows. The effects are comparable to today's movies, and the writting and acting are both great.

  • superboy is bad but stronger than superman!!

  • 4 years isnt short-lived, man... the majority of TV shows only get one or 2 seasons, if they're lucky.

  • I remember seeing Stacy Haiduk recently on Prison Break, too. She was a definite crush back then, and still looks pretty good.

  • I loved this series!

  • Alexander Salkind Presents....SUPERBOY

  • where can you get this on DVD or the net
