I have watched Whale Wars on television here in the USA. As far as I am concerned, Paul Watson the Canadian Captain is a criminal and has no regard for his crew or their safety. I have watched Whale Wars on television here in the USA. As far as I am concerned, Paul Watson the Canadian Captain is a criminal and has no regard for his crew or their safety. He is only concerned with visciously attacking the Japanese fleet witch may very well end in an accident that could lead to a large loss of innocent life. What pathetic crap, I can't even watch the whole video - almost none of the ropes are left behind - they all have buoys and are all retrieved if they are not entangled in the prop (which has yet to happen).
Also, a single line will not entangle an animal, it only will if it has hooks on it (which they, of course, don't). A net will (as in drift nets) but a single line will settle to the ocean floor, harmless.

Canadian Artic is bigger than Japan with few natives spread through out. Most natives don't hunt whale they have jobs.Some natives still hunt whales for food like Polar bears hunt whales for food ..Same Same ..

The JFA is trying to reverse this trend by promoting whale meat as a "healthy" alternative. This flies in the face of scientific study which showed many whale meat products - often mixed with dolphin meat - as having dangerously high levels of poisonous contaminants such as Mercury and PCBs.

The export of whale meat is banned under the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) - if Japan could export whale meat, it undoubtedly would to offset the cost of its hunt.
Japan has, incidentally, been trying to lift this ban for some years now.
