  • @drinkyruns Marry him then

  • @heathathnasoodua, well, I know Kasher. But please do not try to start a discussion at a Bright Eyes video.

  • @Hartzil All I know is that its a Martin.

  • sexy. [:

  • ICCULUS!!!!!!!!!!!! THE GREAT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE

  • I might just be really high and listening to bright eyes, but that like bar looks like a bluntt

  • @Rocklover990 I gotta agree with everything you just said

  • What's up with that yellow bird, he allways sings of?

  • @11Jurriaan im not sure what hes symbolizing but im pretty sure they used to send a yellow bird down a coal shaft to see if it was safe or something... hopefully that helps you haha

  • @yahimkr3w OK, thank you very much, I'll try figure it out!

  • @11Jurriaan It seems to be a reference to someone who has died in his life. In the past they used to bring Canaries into mines and if the canary died they knew that they had to get out of the mine because of the air being toxic.

  • Vocally flawless IMO

  • he doesn't think the wreath gives him love anymore :(

  • Does anyone know where to find mandolin tabs, chords, or sheet music for this song?

  • i love love love this

  • im a dude and i agree with that

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs.. Conor's a genious <3

  • @JanuaryWonder this is a band not a solo project

  • @Bojl95 Clearly Conor is the mastermind behind it.

  • @druxka Conor's a pretty awesome dude, but this song would definitely not be as good if it was just him.

  • @Bojl95 I wish more people would fucking realise this.

  • seeing them on the 10th

  • Is it weird that I can still hear Emmylou's backing vocals?

  • I saw Bright Eyes last night. They were amazing! Is he performing in Austin, Tx? It looks like the state capital and the UT tower are in the background.

  • @mollybird123 This is from the television show Austin City Limits. It's a great show! I think most local PBS affiliates carry it.

  • I'll see Conor on the 19th.

  • Seeing them March 16th :)

  • She took a small silver wreath and pinned it on to me, she said this one will bring you love. And I don't think that thats true, but I keep it for good luck. <33

  • excuse me for bringing it up now [the song and wideo are beautiful, right!] but i'm comming to realise that conor has a whole lot of weird... would "creepy" be the right word? - fans. i'm not gonna claim it''s bad or sth, but it just amuses me. how 'bout one sixth of the comments to his songs on youtube is like "i just came!" still, i can understand that : ] if i were a man... if i weren't me.

  • @Tenmirel Agree. The fans are creepy, I've noticed. Now, I'm one one of those who comment about it, but I can totally relate to their comments lol. I think he's very sexy.

  • What guitar is he using?

  • @Sontompa martin

  • @Sontompa martin 000-18

  • I cannot wait to see his face in March. My life will be complete.

  • @thesneakysnaaake dude! the concert in austin over spring break?

  • Mike Mogis inspired me to play mandolin

  • @kolopo908 Can't fucking wait :D

  • Holla at me if you're from UK and are FINALLY gonna see Bright Eyes in Albert Hall next year!! You Americans don't know how lucky you've been with the tours. They hardly EVER come to UK and when they do they sell out in a second because the venues are like 500 capacity. Well we have them now in the Royal fucking Albert Hall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She took a small silver wreath and pinned it onto me and said "this one will bring you love." I don't know if it's true, but I keep it for good luck..

if a girl did that to me, i would shit myself!

  • He's the dylan of our time, and dylan didn't even believe in most of the things he said, he's said it himself, most of the stuff he wrote he knew would be popular to that generation and didn't necessarily reflect his own views. I think conor believes what he's saying, there's more passion and most of it are metaphors and what not, shit he's experienced, just saying. If not an amazing musician, he's an amazing lyricist you gotta give him that.

  • @buniqueco When the hell did bob dylan say that?

  • Oh Conor Oberst,

He is the only person on earth that would make me cheat on my girlfriend...

  • @DrenthMaurice He's the only person on the earth I'd let my girlfriend cheat on with.

  • @eheffelf lol. honey im home. "oh hi" Who in our bed. Omg is that conner oberst. can i join in?

  • @eheffelf most pussy thing ive ever heard anyone say ever.

  • @DrenthMaurice

Is this coming from a woman or man? Hahah just curious?

  • @DrenthMaurice He can put his slippers next to mine any time. So can Johnny Depp.

  • @DrenthMaurice Well that's ironic; guess you don't know his buddy Tim Kasher...

  • @DrenthMaurice i wanna make out with him, totally straight, seriously.

  • @DrenthMaurice lol, if youre a lesbian, if youre a dude i completely understand what you mean

  • seriously...how could allmusic give the album that this song came off of 2/5 stars...they don't know shit

  • Love this song, superb lyrics.

  • This is my favourite song ever!

  • this is such a beautfiul song. conor oberst is alright but i think we can all agree hes not on par with Dylan nor is he "the greatest man to ever breathe". 49 hitsl.

  • so much better live

  • While a good songwriter he is nowhere near Dylan, come on people.

  • @takeashowerhippie You don't understand.

  • @takeashowerhippie true. who is?

  • where can I see the rest of his performance?

  • I was there. Austin is my city. It was 2004, I was 13, had my first boyfriend, this was our 1st date. Indescribable. Austin City Limits is a good show, they let Bright Eyes feel at home, the workers do well. Bright Eyes is beyond words- almost magical. We went to what's called "tune-up" the day before at the studio and got to meet Conor, Mike and Jim James (Jim wasn't in this song he was in others-the 3 are now in "Monsters of Folk"). All were very sweet to us star-struck kids. I'll never forget

  • Man, he is really good live.

  • Does anybody know how come Conor always gets interviewed alone? I mean, they are a band. So how come Mike Mogis isn't in the all the interviews? Is it just the way he (mike) preferes it? I'm just curious :)

  • <33 can i marry him?

  • conor's on the brink of eruption and mike is rocking out on a fucking mandolin. i guess there really is a god after all.

  • IT REMINDS ME OF THE KIND OF FRIENDS I COULD AFFORD IN THE 1990S.

  • so much soul!

  • He completely destroys any hope i have of maybe someday writing any decent lyrics, because his just blow every song out of this universe

  • looked like john lennon playin the guitar in the beginnning

  • Great lyrics. Great song. This guy could be the next Dylan if he got over himself.

  • i couldent find mandolin tabs for this song, this video really helped

  • @yeaokmike

i've been looking for mandolin tabs for this song and i still haven't really got it figured out haha could you maybe send me some? that would be very much appreciated :] all i have found is the intro for this song and the Landlocked Blues solo =/

  • stars that clear have been dead for years but the idea just lives on ....FRIGGIN wonderful

  • the head-shake he does after he sings "i keep it for good luck"

  • One of the best songwriters that ever existed IMO. Such an incredible talent.

  • did you forget that yellow bird? how could you forget your yellow bird?

  • i like this like version better than the reaql one for some reason

  • @bryan456321 this is a real song.

  • I love conor so much. Im pretty sure it's platonic like a brother or perhaps father figure-ish like he is the father of the poetic retelling of my life, past, present and future. Either way the love is there.

  • This song breaks my heart everytime I hear it

  • Probably one of the most stunning songs i have ever heard! Top mann:)

  • Sut up dude its a good thing not many people have heard of him you mainstream douch

  • @imnothere17 why is that good? You are a douche if that has any significance to you. KILL YOURSELF NOW!!!!!!!

  • I am bothered that everyone i know haven´t heard of Conor Oberst, his music have shaped my life.

  • @MGskateboarding1 hahahha! A sheep? My friends mom said he sounds like a goat! How hilarious;) Personally, I think he sounds amazing, but everyone is entitled to their opinions.

  • This song be dun fucked up.

  • The best songwriter of our time

  • his music has my heart in a way no man ever could.

  • Conor understands life better than anyone else

  • You have to have some balls to sing how he sings... just pouring his soul onto the stage... Undeniable beauty.

  • @TheOneWhoSings1 If thats what you like about Bright Eyes then you should check Elliott Smith. Hes 10x the singer this guy is

  • @IAmTheMan217 yeah probly conors voice isnt anything special but his lyrics are the best ive heard since bob dylan and im pretty sure most people agree with that. singing doesnt really mean shit what your saying has the true value of the song

  • @willzxy676 i was just gonna bring up Bob Dylan. The songwriting is very similar and genius. Also like Dylan his voice isn't the best but its good enough for me.

  • the thing i like most about connor is that he is so great with music but he walks and talks like everyone else. he doesnt see himself anymore important that any other human being.

  • I like the way he is looks done at the microphone.

  • Conor Oberst is AMAZING! everything he makes is so beautiful..his lyrics are so passionate..i love him. Mike Mogis is freeeeakin great too<3

  • just because his voice is different doesn't mean it's bad.

    stop being ignorant.

  • Just got into bright eyes recently. I seriously nearly cried at the end of this song, because of it's sheer beauty

  • what happened to his live video of landlocked blues? the only one i can find is this one...i use to watch it all the time but now i cant find it..its like the greatest live video ever...and its the same as this just different song, someone help me out

  • is that a mandolin mike is playing?

  • @zerosoul89 ok:)

  • i love conor oberst

    i love bright eyes

    i love this song

  • He's a God.

  • he's GO-o-D...

  • @Gmoreno89 lol I'll stick with God. :)

  • Oh god, Conor has an amazing ability to make me cry. His voice is so filled with emotion and so raw that it always makes me stop and feel entirely different. <3

  • Conor is my guru but holy shit, Mike Mogis is such a genius too. Amazing duo.

  • songs like bowl of oranges or lets not shot ourselves wouldnt have been possible without mogis

  • Conor Oberst is a lyrical mastermind.

  • My fucken hero!

  • mike is always shredding on every instrument he picks up

  • you could be so satirical about what he's doing on the stage there.

  • LMFAOOOOOOOOOO...

  • does anyone know the mandolin part of this song?

  • mike mogis does...

    sorry, bad joke

  • @radicalsquadron

just get the guitar tab for it, it's tabbed on Ultimate guitar, and just work out the notes back on the mando - that's what I did

  • @Diary - But will they call the new "dylan" the new Conor lol?

  • WOW this is a beautiful performance of this song.

  • No kidding. I prefer this performance to the version on the album.

  • "I've been sleepin' so strange at night. Side affects they don't advertise" Shit! Don't I know what that feels!

  • Listen Bob Dylan was for his time and Conor Oberst is for our time. They are both great and yes they are compared to eachother. Im sure our future generation will have their own and so on and so forth. you know. =]

  • i can't say better than dylan but i can say the dylan of our age and damn close if not even with him.

  • better than Dylan

  • WAY better

  • @mnelker bold as fuck. but completely true.

  • i love this song so, so much. i wanna give conor a hug.

  • he gave me a hug

  • SHARE! :[

  • i was going to an MVB concert in detroit and i got there like 5 hrs early and him and nate were just standing outside and i went up to talk to them and conor just gave me a hug. then we talked about random crap like coffee and travel. then when i walked away i realized i didnt get a picture and i turned around and they were getting into a tour bus.

  • Aww, that sucks! At least you have the experience of straight up having a conversation with him!

  • lucky!!

  • i raise my glass to you!!!

  • oh and conor.

    he's more than words.

    greatest man to ever breathe.

nothing could ever do justice for the music he makes.

  • i fuckin love mike mogis.

he makes such beautiful sounds with that mandolin of his.

  • man that was fantastic. exactly how i felt a few days ago. just a lovely song

  • i love this version.

    i'm melting.....haha

  • This is one of the many bright eyes songs i can't help but cry when i listen to it. amazing

  • I guess I'm the only one who thinks this version is better!

He sounds more vulnerable, and I like the way he handles himself without the female harmonizing.

  • No, definitely agreed. His voice is so raw in this song, since I heard this, I stopped listening to the other. Because you just..stop paying attention to how it sounds, and you listen to the lyrics, it's the most calming thing ever.

  • my hero.

  • mike mogis doesn't get half the credit he deserves.

  • mike mogis is the shit, he plays like 10 instruments and rocks them all

  • cuz he's ugly

  • @kennygr8sucks No Doubt

  • @kennygr8sucks

He's the real genius. Conor's got lyrical shit down, but he'd have no music to sing to if not for Mike.

  • @inxcasinoxout Not true. He'd have no money if it wasn't for Mogis because he's a producer and knows how to make music sell. Conor still made amazing music even when he was just a kid, it's just that Mike made us all notice him. But I do agree with you in that Bright Eyes would be nothing without the second member.

  • 4:28

    hair flip and pelvic thrust.

    dayymmm

  • Nope, not better. Really misses Emmylou in the background... perhaps if she was there, yes

  • youre right , i miss her too, i just sing her part lol

  • : ) just happened to me too

  • it really does need the harmonies... and for everyone who gave this comment a minus.. im guessing conor agrees, since he HAD HER SING HARMONIES lol

  • definitely the best version of this i've heard.... definitely better than the album version

  • what chords does he play ??? pleaze anyone?

  • go on ultimate guitar decent tab there

  • A A/C# F# E

he just fingerpicks the bass note, then the rest of the chord. that's pretty much the whole song.

  • F#m

  • A A/C# F#m E and an occasional D

  • hey tnx for the info realy appreciate i
