i wan't to know the mandolin to this i got one. if anyone can find a site with the tabs please Email me at dustincom13@gmail.com or msg me on here. thank you
@11Jurriaan im not sure what hes symbolizing but im pretty sure they used to send a yellow bird down a coal shaft to see if it was safe or something... hopefully that helps you haha
@11Jurriaan It seems to be a reference to someone who has died in his life. In the past they used to bring Canaries into mines and if the canary died they knew that they had to get out of the mine because of the air being toxic.
I saw Bright Eyes last night. They were amazing! Is he performing in Austin, Tx? It looks like the state capital and the UT tower are in the background.
She took a small silver wreath and pinned it on to me, she said this one will bring you love. And I don't think that thats true, but I keep it for good luck. <33
excuse me for bringing it up now [the song and wideo are beautiful, right!] but i'm comming to realise that conor has a whole lot of weird... would "creepy" be the right word? - fans. i'm not gonna claim it''s bad or sth, but it just amuses me. how 'bout one sixth of the comments to his songs on youtube is like "i just came!" still, i can understand that : ] if i were a man... if i weren't me.
@Tenmirel Agree. The fans are creepy, I've noticed. Now, I'm one one of those who comment about it, but I can totally relate to their comments lol. I think he's very sexy.
Holla at me if you're from UK and are FINALLY gonna see Bright Eyes in Albert Hall next year!! You Americans don't know how lucky you've been with the tours. They hardly EVER come to UK and when they do they sell out in a second because the venues are like 500 capacity. Well we have them now in the Royal fucking Albert Hall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She took a small silver wreath and pinned it onto me and said "this one will bring you love." I don't know if it's true, but I keep it for good luck..
He's the dylan of our time, and dylan didn't even believe in most of the things he said, he's said it himself, most of the stuff he wrote he knew would be popular to that generation and didn't necessarily reflect his own views. I think conor believes what he's saying, there's more passion and most of it are metaphors and what not, shit he's experienced, just saying. If not an amazing musician, he's an amazing lyricist you gotta give him that.
this is such a beautfiul song. conor oberst is alright but i think we can all agree hes not on par with Dylan nor is he "the greatest man to ever breathe". 49 hitsl.
I was there. Austin is my city. It was 2004, I was 13, had my first boyfriend, this was our 1st date. Indescribable. Austin City Limits is a good show, they let Bright Eyes feel at home, the workers do well. Bright Eyes is beyond words- almost magical. We went to what's called "tune-up" the day before at the studio and got to meet Conor, Mike and Jim James (Jim wasn't in this song he was in others-the 3 are now in "Monsters of Folk"). All were very sweet to us star-struck kids. I'll never forget
Does anybody know how come Conor always gets interviewed alone? I mean, they are a band. So how come Mike Mogis isn't in the all the interviews? Is it just the way he (mike) preferes it? I'm just curious :)
i've been looking for mandolin tabs for this song and i still haven't really got it figured out haha could you maybe send me some? that would be very much appreciated :] all i have found is the intro for this song and the Landlocked Blues solo =/
I love conor so much. Im pretty sure it's platonic like a brother or perhaps father figure-ish like he is the father of the poetic retelling of my life, past, present and future. Either way the love is there.
@MGskateboarding1 hahahha! A sheep? My friends mom said he sounds like a goat! How hilarious;) Personally, I think he sounds amazing, but everyone is entitled to their opinions.
@IAmTheMan217 yeah probly conors voice isnt anything special but his lyrics are the best ive heard since bob dylan and im pretty sure most people agree with that. singing doesnt really mean shit what your saying has the true value of the song
@willzxy676 i was just gonna bring up Bob Dylan. The songwriting is very similar and genius. Also like Dylan his voice isn't the best but its good enough for me.
the thing i like most about connor is that he is so great with music but he walks and talks like everyone else. he doesnt see himself anymore important that any other human being.
what happened to his live video of landlocked blues? the only one i can find is this one...i use to watch it all the time but now i cant find it..its like the greatest live video ever...and its the same as this just different song, someone help me out
Oh god, Conor has an amazing ability to make me cry. His voice is so filled with emotion and so raw that it always makes me stop and feel entirely different. <3
Listen Bob Dylan was for his time and Conor Oberst is for our time. They are both great and yes they are compared to eachother. Im sure our future generation will have their own and so on and so forth. you know. =]
i was going to an MVB concert in detroit and i got there like 5 hrs early and him and nate were just standing outside and i went up to talk to them and conor just gave me a hug. then we talked about random crap like coffee and travel. then when i walked away i realized i didnt get a picture and i turned around and they were getting into a tour bus.
No, definitely agreed. His voice is so raw in this song, since I heard this, I stopped listening to the other. Because you just..stop paying attention to how it sounds, and you listen to the lyrics, it's the most calming thing ever.
