@dosafadi ya if u want to play other musicians music like metallica i have pretty much all of their percussion reading and they are fun to read and play. If u want to be a musician i certainly u learn this and i would teach u but ur probably in another place and ya my lessons are free.

Depending on how your taught and how often you read professional music, his notation is correct. It is used in most all pro and traditional music schools to teach and understand the language. His approach could have been a little different but all in all, its a great way to learn and play in a FAST amount of time. cheers bro.

Then, like ME, this is the next evolution to take. I learnd to play by ear as well, but like any other language you can learn, speaking it will only cover a situation MOST of the time. Once I learn this, I expect to learn covers much faster. I will say it looked like he was detailing tabs instead of actual sheet music.

Hes actually wrong. Different toms are represented by different noteheads. The Ride is on the top line of the staff and the hi hat is on the ledger line above the staff. And and open or closed hi hat would have a + or an O for open or closed or both is its to have it open and close it.
