sometimes ya wish they could cheat and just make lord of the rings 4.. a new ring lol I dunno.. sounds terrible but would be amazing seeing the whole gang on film for another adventure. the hobbit will have to do :D
@laurence265 actually the lord of the rings the return of the king is ... inconclusive i mean did you read the book at last there is a part in travel back home where the hobbits fight again vs saruman they alone is pretty cool actually :)
Well if you wanna go strictly by the books.. Then The Lord of the Rings really dropped the ball.. There was soooo much they left out, But that's just how movies are.. They have to adapt stories to film. So in The Hobbit, if it's changed where Bilbo and Frodo are telling the story in the begining then thats probably gonna make it a better movie.
I think it would be cute to have him read/tell the story to a bunch of little Hobbits back in the Shire before the point at which LOTR picks up; seems only logical. I am, however, not banking on them being logical with this since they are bringing in a female elf character that was never in the book. I think that's going to add a bit too much complication. but still, glad elijah's back.
i trust peter jackson. after seeing what he did with the trilogy, i have faith that he will honor tolkien AND create his own spin. either way it will be amazing
i'm glad...frodo's my favourite character...i'm kinda mad that he wasn't in the book, but w/e, glad pj's fitting him into these ones...pete-ma-dear, you read my mind!
if frodo is in it, it probably means that the two movies will start with bilbo talking to frodo about the old days and how he came about getting the ring.
For everyone's information... Legolas should totally be in the Hobbit! He is the son of Thranduil, who is the elven king in mirkwood. WHO is in the Hobbit and holds the dwarves hostage! Legolas would not be out of place OR contridicting to the story!
I'm so happy that they are putting him in there. It's a great addition, and I know they will pull it off beautifully. It's going to be a masterpiece no matter what. I cannot wait!~
personaly i think they should stick to the hobbit and frodo shouldn't make any kind of appearance but it all depends on how they bring him in. I dont really like the idea of him narrating it but thats just me... i think it would be cool if whatking verdo said is true if they do something like that, that would be cool... but what about these rumers that legolas is in it!? I hope they are untrue... and im slightly worried about it... however peter jackson is an amazing person and im sure il be gud
@MrZombieplague Don't be worried. The Hobbit is a retelling of Bilbo's story, "there and back again".. This is Frodo's retelling, and so it's not going to be entirely focused around Bilbo. It will be about other events in The Middle Earth too. Like finding the One Ring, Thorin, and also the white council driving out the Necromancer, and Dol Guldur. I'm happy about this, because if it follows the hobbit entirely then it wont have a great link to the LoTR trilogy.
The hobbit will start with Frodo reading the hobbit right before Gandalf comes in the Fellowship of the ring. And it will end with him running to Gandalf. Thus starting the Lord of the Rings.
@Essefen Well if indeed they do link it to a LotR scene that is, it might be set in Valinor as some have suggested. But I just figure that scene made the most sense as Frodo says "There and back again..." indicating a completed book.
I absolutely LOVE elijah wood but i also love the hobbit so I'm a little dissapointed/worried that he's in it? frodo isnt even mentioned in the hobbit, plus elijah wood is like 30 now and he was 18 when they started filming LOTR...how is that going to work??
I agree with both dshero97 and WWChriscornellDo. I think they may have him Narrating the story, and I think that would be the perfect way for the story to be told. Other than some random person doing it, unless it were Gandalf, he would be the only exception. But I do believe that Frodo will be doing the reading. I'm so excited to see it!
From what I've heard(and this may not be 100% or even 10% accurate) but I've heard that Iam Holm was going to be a part of the movie in some way. My first thought was that he would be narrating the movie(thus making sense why frodo makes an appearance. It would be as if bilbo is telling the story to frodo). I don't see much other reason they have frodo returning, but Orlando Bloom making a cameo makes more sense. He does play a prince of the Woodland Realm in the other movies.
You know at the end of lord of the rings frodo goes to the undieing lands with bilbo, gandalf, elrond and the other elves right? Later on Sam and Gimli both travel there aswell when their life is at a end. Legolas likely went aswell, being an elf and all.
Hey although Peter Jackson pulled off a pretty decent trilogy with LOTR, he deviated a little to much from the novel i.e. no Tom Bombadil remember (the only character the ring had no effect over) pretty important omission. So although E.Wood did good in the trilogy Jackson has no right again trying to put him into the Hobbit. No Frodo in the novel KEEP HIM OUT! Jackson you ass wipe!
But I wish that they somehow could close the gap between the hobbit and lotr and bring back all the actors that were involved in lotr for the hobbit movies ;P
I LOVE FRODO AND ELIJAH!!! I want Frodo and Elijah to both make a movie together and I also want Frodo to sing a song with Josh Groban!!!! ♥♥♥FRODO♥♥♥
I seriously cannot wait for this movie! I know that it won't be exactly like the book, but neither were the LotR movies, and look how amazing they are. The only thing I regret about this movie is the fact that the fabulous Ian Holm won't be playing Bilbo.
My problem with doing the Hobbit after LotR is that Tolkien wrote the Hobbit for children and at the time had no intention of the ring turning out to be an evil object. LotR was originally supposed to be for adults and not a suquel to The Hobbit. The publisher convinced him to make it into a sequel. So, you can't really write the ring as a fun magic ring after how it was presented in LotR. There's no way the movie can be true to the book without seeming like a contradiction of the LotR movies.
I like that Frodo is coming back! It's "artistic liberty", and it's based on the books - not an exact. It helps tie together the story as a whole. Elijah Wood is a good actor, and I'm a little suprised he hasn't gotten some really break-out roles since LOTR. My best to him and glad to see he's on board!
1st I hear Orlando Bloom getting paid a million $ 4 a cameo in "The Hobbit" & now this?.In the books Frodo started living with Bilbo years after the stuff in the "The Hobbit" when his parent's died in a boating accident.
I don't think that he should (or will) have a part in the original story. most likely it will be him reading the book as an intro to both movies. If that's the case it would be cool if Sam was in there somehow too.
I'm really looking forward to this movie and I'm glad it's finally going into production. It's great to see Ian McKellen and Andy Sirkus returning with Peter directing. I just wish that Ian Holm could have played Bilbo again for continuity but I guess he's a bit old now at 80 years.
I bet my left arm that since they will have him at the start of both movies, it will be him reading the book that Bilbo wrote. That's basically all I cann see him doing since he isn't even in the Hobbit.
@RentTheSpokeMan It's an adaptation - it doesn't have to be perfect. It could just be Frodo, after the events of Lotr, telling the story of the Hobbit. That would make the most sense, since Bilbo introduced the happenings of Lotr.
OH MY GOD! I'M SO FUCKING ANGRY ABOUT THIS!!! WHY is Frodo in this?!? He was never in the Hobbit at all!!! Why am i yelling?!? I don't even care either way anyway!
I'm glad that Elijah Wood will be reprising his role as Frodo in The Hobbit! Although Frodo wasn't born yet when the events of The Hobbit take place, it makes sense to have Wood do a cameo as Frodo reading Bilbo's book about his adventures when Frodo meets old Bilbo in Rivendell. Additional Lord of the Rings actors in The Hobbit will include Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Cate Blanchett, and possibly Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Ian Holm, and Hugo Weaving,
I'm glad they found a way to fit in good ol' Frodo :) however, I don't understand how? In LotR Frodo was 33 years old, when Bilbo was 111 years old, as they have birthday the exact same day. And LotR happens 60 years after The Hobbit! In that case, Frodo will get 27 years too early into the story! But maybe it could be something like Frodo telling the story; I don't know though, but anyway I'm looking forward to see Elijah Wood in another Jackson-movie, and another Middle Earth-movie!:)
i'm glad that Wood was skeptical about returning as Frodo in the Hobbit because his character is never mentioned in the book. Most of other actors would've been like "another movie? COOL! SIGN ME UP! I DON'T CARE IF I'M NOT IN THE BOOK"
@Goinbefskie No, no, I thought they're going to make it as a prequel. You know...Frodo, Bilbo and Gandalf along with the elves have sailed to the Lands of Aman and now Sam is old and has children and grandchildren so the film opens up with Sam reading There and Back Again to them. That would be an epic beginning.
But you are right, Hobbit did come out before Fellowship.
@dshero97 that is exactly what he is going to be doing... the one ring . net broke the news before sundance on January 7th... he will be reading out of the Red Book of Westmarch. (or the book that bilbo writes in at the start of fellowship and the one that frodo ends his time in middle earth at the end of return of the king)
I'm sure it'll be a great addition to the atmosphere of the film providing it's a small part and doesn't pull attention away from Bilbo as the main character of the film.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@laury150 If Jackson insists on making a part for Frodo in the Hobbit (which he better not do) then replace Elijah Wood with Justin Bieber that's the only way I'll watch it....Period! Go Beebs!

dshero97 1 year ago 87
@dshero97 Bu that doesn't make any sense. Doesn't Sam have the book? Shouldn't he be reading it?
tomaspeverell 1 year ago
@tomaspeverell he gets the book at the end of Return of the King, is The Hobbit the first one before The Fellowship?
Goinbefskie 1 year ago
@Goinbefskie No, no, I thought they're going to make it as a prequel. You know...Frodo, Bilbo and Gandalf along with the elves have sailed to the Lands of Aman and now Sam is old and has children and grandchildren so the film opens up with Sam reading There and Back Again to them. That would be an epic beginning.
But you are right, Hobbit did come out before Fellowship.
tomaspeverell 1 year ago
@dshero97 Ooh, that would be cool

simplyirrst9 1 year ago
@dshero97 That would be awesome if they made it like he is narrationg the movie kind of thing, like Fight Club style
panda2621 1 year ago
@dshero97 that is exactly what he is going to be doing... the one ring . net broke the news before sundance on January 7th... he will be reading out of the Red Book of Westmarch. (or the book that bilbo writes in at the start of fellowship and the one that frodo ends his time in middle earth at the end of return of the king)

GmadaGfack 1 year ago
I'm sure it'll be a great addition to the atmosphere of the film providing it's a small part and doesn't pull attention away from Bilbo as the main character of the film.

laury150 1 year ago 62
@laury150 It will be strange with him.Because he has almost no role in The hobbit.Read the book.
FBFTheRagingWarrior 1 year ago
@FBFTheRagingWarrior so what if he has almost no role. Does that mean that he can't play a smaller part.
laury150 1 year ago
@FBFTheRagingWarrior Never mind.People are right he will probably read bilbo's story.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
@laury150 If Jackson insists on making a part for Frodo in the Hobbit (which he better not do) then replace Elijah Wood with Justin Bieber that's the only way I'll watch it....Period! Go Beebs!
