I think it would be cute to have him read/tell the story to a bunch of little Hobbits back in the Shire before the point at which LOTR picks up; seems only logical. I am, however, not banking on them being logical with this since they are bringing in a female elf character that was never in the book. @MrZombieplague Don't be worried. The Hobbit is a retelling of Bilbo's story, "there and back again".. This is Frodo's retelling, and so it's not going to be entirely focused around Bilbo. It will be about other events in The Middle Earth too. Like finding the One Ring, Thorin, and also the white council driving out the Necromancer, and Dol Guldur. I'm happy about this, because if it follows the hobbit entirely then it wont have a great link to the LoTR trilogy.

From what I've heard(and this may not be 100% or even 10% accurate) but I've heard that Iam Holm was going to be a part of the movie in some way. My first thought was that he would be narrating the movie(thus making sense why frodo makes an appearance. It would be as if bilbo is telling the story to frodo). I don't see much other reason they have frodo returning, but Orlando Bloom making a cameo makes more sense. He does play a prince of the Woodland Realm in the other movies.

Hey although Peter Jackson pulled off a pretty decent trilogy with LOTR, he deviated a little to much from the novel i.e. no Tom Bombadil remember (the only character the ring had no effect over) pretty important omission. So although E.Wood did good in the trilogy Jackson has no right again trying to put him into the Hobbit. No Frodo in the novel KEEP HIM OUT! Jackson you ass wipe!

My problem with doing the Hobbit after LotR is that Tolkien wrote the Hobbit for children and at the time had no intention of the ring turning out to be an evil object. LotR was originally supposed to be for adults and not a suquel to The Hobbit. The publisher convinced him to make it into a sequel. So, you can't really write the ring as a fun magic ring after how it was presented in LotR. There's no way the movie can be true to the book without seeming like a contradiction of the LotR movies.

I like that Frodo is coming back! It's "artistic liberty", and it's based on the books - not an exact. It helps tie together the story as a whole. I'm glad they found a way to fit in good ol' Frodo :) however, I don't understand how? In LotR Frodo was 33 years old, when Bilbo was 111 years old, as they have birthday the exact same day. And LotR happens 60 years after The Hobbit! In that case, Frodo will get 27 years too early into the story!
