  • They sent me this from the states. I was in a war an lisiening to this it fit the time. Thanks I am alive to hear it.

  • Man can't tell you how this band got me through "HIGH" school. Saw them with Earth Wind Fire & Stevie Wonder 73 , the live jam of all live jams

  • Ape is High! Long as Your Mind is Free.

  • Does someone has the lyrics of this song ???

  • The melody of this song reminds me of Queen's Another one bites the dust. But I guess since this song is 10 years older than the Queen song "Another one bites the dust" reminds me of THIS song? Fuck am i even making sense?

  • FUNKY COOL

  • @princenelson22. Funny I did the exact same thing. I did that a lot. How about Osibisa? Great album covers. Funky rock that white hard rock fans liked too.

  • Bought this album after looking at the cover back in '70. Hadn't heard a tune until I got it home and spun it in my Garrard turntable. What drive; what Funk!

  • This song has it all! A simple message, and cowbell!

  • I just bought this LP and can't stop staring at the cover. Playing along to this song is now a daily ritual.

  • I still have the original LP. We used to sit around and try to imitate all of the instruments these cats played. Talk about a party!!!

  • They closed the best concert I ever saw with this last night...

  • @OlSkoolMusiQueen

    What concert was that then?

    Regards Gordy

  • @Gordygrooveking A concert with Mandrill, Breakwater and KC & The Sunshine Band in Philadelphia

  • music i use to play in the parks of new york, love this era of funk and horns

  • As a child of the 70's, I grew up grooving to stuff like this. Mandrill jams!!!!

  • I stood twenty feet away from Fudgie at a cocert when he played that solo on a fretless bass. That mans chops had chops. They were a top notch tite playing group.

  • When my cousin Mike turned me on to this album, my funk level was increased tenfold.

  • @scumber56 get the funk outta here.. :)

  • esta es la verdadera mùsica de mandrill. tengo el vinilo.todavìa esta bueno.

  • Hey, look! Spark Mandrill! Get it? Spark MANDRILL!

  • @Foodperson I bet you were dying when you heard Metallica on Flash Man's stage.

  • @ChronicMetamorphosis

    It's friggen amazing, I know.

  • Fudge!! Now that's a bass solo!! Fudgie Kae was such a great bass player - his work throughout this entire album is phenomenal. A real shame more people don't know about this guy...

  • the first time the Big Boys let me hang out with them...They had the black light on

smoking bud and drinking brews. Man and Mandrill playing non-stop and I was just feeling so grownup LMAO!!!! wow those were some Good Days!!!

Mandrill Forever. How come the oldies stations don't play all the funk hits from the 70's now there's a niche that needs to be filled.

  • Ape is high and so am I. These were good times! Saw Mandrill at a Kwanzaa festival in Philly around 1973 with Nikki Giovanni, Voices of East Harlem, Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane. They people were worked up into a frenzy. One of the greatest concerts and moments in my life!
