  • you'd need crazy strong toes to climb in these wouldnt you? isn't the whole point of a climbing shoe is to jam your toes into a point allowing you to put more pressure on them? I doubt my pinky toe could hold me up in these like it can in a climbing shoe... mind you i havent seen vibrams for climbing yet. so yea. i'm probably wrong

  • @4726052 No, you're correct. We shot this clip two years ago right after I got my first pair of VFFs and wanted to try them. The Vibrams are not good for climbing. Climbing shoes are awesome for climbing. That said, if the route is very overhanging -- where your feet aren't supporting much of your bodyweight -- you can do some stuff in your VFFs. Say you're on a trail run and come across a bouldering problem you've been working, perhaps the VFFs would work.

  • Love my Five Fingers for running but they are absolutely worthless for climbing.

  • although i see many benefits to running in VFFs, i see absolutely no benefit to wearing them climbing. i see this all the time at my local climbing gym and it's the worst thing you can do for your feet when climbing. VFFs allow your foot to splay and spread while running, which is the exact opposite thing you want from your toes when climbing. this is a FAIL if you ask me.

  • I got some of these, KSOs. Theyre coming in the mail tomorrow and i cant wait!! By the way i think the shoes are really cool looking, i dont see how they could ever look ugly.

  • Kinda gutted Vibram tried to make every variety of these shoes be a Jack of all trades "good for climbing, walking, running, and yachting"

    NOT GOOD ENOUGH THEN!

if they make some which are specifically designed for climbing Ill get them, till then Im sticking with my testerossas

  • Whats 11b in European scala?? Looks pretty easy, and the climber doesn't look very strong...

  • THESE ARE NOT CLIMBING SHOES!!!!!

  • @skinnytallnsmart They are the closest thing to barefoot, and guess what, we've been climbing barefoot for millions of years.

So why do we need "climbing shoes"?

  • @Jallenbah because it's cold???

  • @Jallenbah millions of years X[)

  • @jallenbah theoretically humans have existed for 100,000 years unless you mean all lifeforms.....

  • @Jallenbah grip?

  • @Jallenbah we need climbing shoes to climb hard stuff duh

  • @dyeguy6

    calm down ya dumb bitch

  • ...and then he shattered his spine as he slammed against that rock!

  • I can't get an answer. I was these on ZingDash.com Are they pretty legit?

  • @HawkeCaptain no, only get them from the vibram website.

  • i don't see the point of climbing with these, especially on an overhand. You might as well just climb barefoot if you're not gonna use climbing shoes. Nice "climbing gloves", lol, this guy looks like a real pro.

  • @karmadrug The VFF Sprints are light and handy enough to carry up with you and slip on while you're hanging out at the belay station. They make a pretty decent approach shoe generally unless it's cold.

  • @karmadrug

Some gyms don't allow climbing barefoot.(I don't see why though) So this is a nice alternative.

  • @ljimeru greasing up foot holds with toe jam doesnt seem wise! haha

  • @karmadrug

These are light and has good friction it also provides protection for rough surfaces, climbing barefooted might cut your legs.

  • Vibrams don't work well for rick climbing. I tried it once and the soles are just too thin to be comfortable if you're putting a lot of pressure on one foots on an awkward surface. Also after my climb, both shoes (KSOs) had holes on the seams right behind the big toe.

  • I love climbing in My Vibrams as well. Great vids man.

  • what color are your vff's? I cant tell, they kinda look black and they kinda look grey

  • Climbing in KSO is not easy at all...but will help your toes get stronger :)

  • 11d? in vibram shoes? plus this looks very nice for the amount of jugs/cracks/holds in general &c.

    Skeptical

  • thanks for comment! It's actually an 11b, not d. There are jugs, but the route is super overhanging. Actually, there's an 11b move and the rest is probably 5.10 something. And I fell at the 11b move.

That said, on a route this overhanging, your feet are basically just for stabilizing and positioning. You could climb this one barefoot.

  • if you can climb without your feet, it's not an eleven. Try like 8-9 max. even then it's doubtful unless you're sheer muscle.

Yes, i'm aware la sportiva uses vibram. Doesn't make routes harder.

  • I hate when people tell you what to grab and shit, they can't see what you see from the ground.

  • I'm just starting rock climbing (indoor)

I was thinking about getting these shoes as opposed to conventional rock climbing shoes. Would you recommend that? I have slightly in grown toenails on both big toes so the narrow tip shoes hurt them. I also figured you could have more control as you could curl your toes and your your foot like another hand

  • Kinda, I guess. My hands are taped for cracks and jamming. Most people cut off the tape and throw it away at the end of the day, but I save and reuse. Been doing that for over a year, so they've kinda turned into climbing gloves.

  • you wearing gloves?
