Snape was a really mean person but I can understand partly why he was and I think part of the reason why he became a death eater is because of the the power and he probably felt powerless for most of his life so when a chance to be powerful comes along of course he's going to take it and it probably didn't help that his only friends other then Lily were future death eaters. Actually, it doesn't make sense to me that his patronus is a doe. We don't know what or even if Lily had an animgus form, or if that was the form her patronus took. We only know that James' animagus form was a stag. And that the doe is the mate of the stag. If he hated James and loved Lily, then it doesn't make sense that 'James' lover' is how he'd choose to remember her. @dracowrightplayer Snape was a great character, but he wasn't a good guy. We was a strange enigma, good and bad each in spades. He only did any good because he loved Lily, and she was murdered. If not for that, he would have continued to back Voldemort without hesitation. This said, he did stick by his decisions, and he helped Harry even after he was dead. He could have simply said "forget this all, I'm dying," but he was determined to make Voldemort pay for Lily's death.

No he wasn't. He was a petty, vindictive, git who took his anger out at his own mistake on his tennage rival, and then, a decade after said rival's death, his rival's son. I love Snape. Most people cried their hardest doing Fred's death, and don't get me wrong I cried alot. But, during the Prince's Tale the pages were completely soaking wet. Since the I the first book I knew he had some kind of plot with someone. At the time I wasn't sure with who. By the fourth book I believed he was a follower of the Dark Lord ,Death Eater, but at the end of Deathly Hallows I was kind of sad and I was mostly effected by Snapes death. Rest in Peace Severus.

I think most Snape fans were probably older because they read between the lines. The younger fans just saw the surface and read Snape being evil. I'm sad to say I was one of those people... rereading the books lets me see his better points now that i'm slightly older and a more mature reader.
Severus Snape was never allowed to be himself. Every-one saw only his odd appearance, except Lily or maybe Dumbledore. No-one could see behind his armor. He was such a scared, vulnerable and immensely sensitive cornered dog. And such a dog sees no other way out than an attack. Very pity. I think his death brought him his freedom and peace at last.

Snape wears a wig in the movies. My friend and I are HUGE hp and Wrock addicts and we saw him on another movie when we were surfing the t.v., and though his face was the same but he had no wig. We recognized him immediately, but my friends dad didn't no it was him cos he was SMILING!!!

No he wasn't. He was a petty, vindictive, git who took his anger out at his own mistake on his tennage rival, and then, a decade after said rival's death, his rival's son. It was his own fault he ruined his friendship with Lily, i wouldn't call the girl I love filth (a mudblood) to her face just because she helped me when I got pranked. The only 'brave' thing he ever did was spy on Volde, which he really had to do, since it was the only thing keeping him out of Azkaban.

@eragonsaphira777 Actually, I agree with BlameItOnTheBoogie93. Snape may have been mean, but when you're upset, you get angry. If someone's been bullying you, sometimes you take it out on those closest to you because you're so hurt by what's happened, or humilated and angry. Snape wasn't James' 'teenage rival', he was his victim. That's obvious in the fifth book. He was a good person. If you judge a book by it's cover, you end up with a rubbish read. In my view, anyway. Sorry if I seem rude....

I love Snape. Most people cried their hardest doing Fred's death, and don't get me wrong I cried alot. But, during the Prince's Tale the pages were completely soaking wet. Since the I the first book I knew he had some kind of plot with someone. At the time I wasn't sure with who. By the fourth book I believed he was a follower of the Dark Lord ,Death Eater, but at the end of Deathly Hallows I was kind of sad and I was mostly effected by Snapes death. Rest in Peace Severus.

@CJTJ07 Same here! I was literallly weeping to the point where I had to set the book aside to even be able to read the words on the page. :'S Snape and Dobby,'s deaths. Both dedicated their lives to saving Harry, though for different reasons.
I especially hated yet loved how she didn't reveal how good of a man he really was until after he was gone. :'(
Harry naming Albus Severus was the ultimate tip of the hat to the men who had troubled beginnings, yet were heroes in the end. :'D

I think most Snape fans were probably older because they read between the lines. The younger fans just saw the surface and read Snape being evil. I'm sad to say I was one of those people... rereading the books lets me see his better points now that i'm slightly older and a more mature reader.

Severus Snape was never allowed to be himself. Every-one saw only his odd appearance, except Lily or maybe Dumbledore. No-one could see behind his armor. He was such a scared, vulnerable and immensely sensitive cornered dog. And such a dog sees no other way out than an attack. Very pity. I think his death brought him his freedom and peace at last.

I admit, I always doubted snape...but then again I was 1 of the kids who fell in love with reading coz of Harry Potter and I was only eleven when I started reading the 1st book and I read all of the books to the order of the phenix in 1 yr. So everytime Harry made a mistake I was niive enought to as well. I was convinced Snape was evil when Harry was and I hate some1 if Harry did. But now im 15 and love Snape

I disliked Snape a little at first, but I knew there was more to him than the kind of front he was putting on. I had long suspected that Snape wasn't evil, and I stuck to that notion, and I was right. I knew there was a hidden reason for everything he did, and his intentions MUST be good. The only thing that caught me a little by surprise was his relationship with Lily, but after thinking about it, I think that those two should have been together all along. RIP, Severus&Lily <3
