  • Britain can be thanked for the possibility of an invasion on the western front. USA was certainly integral for victory, but so was Britain. I think many Americans dont really realise the sacrifices Britain suffered in order to be victorious. Without the bravery of Britain's fighting men, no invasion of France could have happened. The movie 'Pearl Harbour' seems to claim Americans made the difference in the Battle of Britain, but this is not true. Britain fought all by themselves and won.

  • @Salvus967 Well if anyone else made a difference in the Battle of Britain, it was the Polish. But after all the hard fighting the Brits had to face, almost all by themselves, against very heavy odds, they have been discredited by iganorant comments like "if it wasn't for us americans, you'd all be speaking german" when in reality its "if it wasnt for the bravery of the british, the nazis would have conquered europe and america would never have been able to budge them.

  • @Salvus967 "

  • 3 big reasons why Allied forces won this invation. 1: Hitler did`nt listen to Field Marshal Rommels plan, and prediction. #2: Field Marshal Rommel were in Germany to attend to his wife`s bday, during the invation. #3: Hitler did`nt allow the reserve Panzer division to move in Normandy

  • @asured26 Hitler was one of the only ones who thought the invasion might occur here. But as fate would have it, Hitler chose this one time to listen to his generals

  • Very nice song from great album "Minor Complexities".

I am a big prog rock fan and this is certainly one of the best albums in a while.

Hope to hear more music from Contrarian in future!

  • I LIKE IT! I have a song I wrote with my friend on here as a tribute to Ronnie James Dio. Not half as good as this....... GREAT SOUND!

  • I LIKE IT!

  • my greatgrandpa was on one of the ships he has told me many stories of bravery

  • This is disgracefully epic! Amazin Vox, amazin everythin but its the violin that got me most. U guys should be bigger!

  • My great grandfather and his brother were in the battle of Normandy, his brother died as a paratrooper, my great grandfather was a survivor on one of the beaches, I'm not sure what one though

  • there were d-day tank in operation Overlord

  • These tanks were M4 Sherman that had a duplex drive system like the DWK trucks. They also had a canvas "hull" that came up around the turret to help it float. In calm seas they worked well but there were storms in the channel on 5 June so they had to go in on 6 June, with rough seas. Long story short M4DD tanks sunk. It didn't mater much because most of the 105th Engineers died before they even got out of the LC's.

  • If I remember correctly only a fraction of the shermans actually survived the rough sea to battle the germans on omaha beach.

    Nice photos by the way!!

  • Yes more made it on to Utah than on to Omaha. Omaha was just a bad deal all the way around.

Thanks. Those were taken at on of our tactical that we held at the old Camp Forest site a few years ago.

  • my father was there to fight

  • more allied soldors were killed on that day then german troops

  • chill dude its youtube not fuckin english class calm down

  • this operation was to be the largest and most costly of all time ... and is ... we lost 50000 of our boys on that beach alone half of them new they woulkd die from the begining and even more new they wouldnt see each other ever again ... imagine being in the "raft's" nowing you were floating to your death ....l they did this for our freedome if they hadnt germany would have cept london and japan... my grandfather was lucky enough to make it threw this horible place

  • do you know how much they lost at Stalingrad?

  • wasnt thet fight between the germans and the russions ... i dont remember ....

  • you just made that shit up...there were like 8000 casualties total on D day.

  • True, no where near 50,000 died from the allied side. Omaha was the bloodiest because the floating tanks were sent in too soon and sunk. Morgans plan worked on D day and Hitler was on the back foot to the end.

  • largest and costly of all time? hell no

operation Barbarossa was hella larger then this

  • "largest and costly of all time?" No idea who wrote that. Operation Barbarossa was a suicide rush by hitler against the wishes of all his commanders.

  • it involve over 2 million Germans troops buddy

in a way ye it was suicide attack

but overall the operation was a success until hitler took too many panther divisions from eastern front to fight in italy

  • The invasion of russia was to try to force the UK in a truce. The soviets were allies of Hitler.

  • they mainly aim for the oil reserves in the Ukraine tho

thinking the UK wold back down is stupid...

  • Hitler wanted a truce with the UK. He got it wrong, his own errors cost him and millions.

  • hitler wanted to get to oil fields in caucasian region. that's why he sent his main forces south but he never got that far because of battle of stalingrad.ukrainian oil reserves weren't enough for his needs. i don't think hitler was that stupid to belive that operation barbarossa will convince britain for truce. it was obvious that after german agression on ussr russians will unite with western allies against nazi germany

  • no Hitler needed that old BAD

when Italy got invaded Hitler had to helped the Italians so he send most of his panther divisions there. And there really was a chance that the Uk would quit. If russia is defeated then Uk is the only enemy left for germany in europe

  • Hitler had the Soviet oil as Stalin sold it to him. Hitler.."If we take the Soviets out if the war then the UK will have to surrender."

  • Floating tanks? Those were not used in this battle. The reason that Omaha was the bloodiest beach is because all the pre landing bombing runs missed the beach guns.

  • Floating tanks were used by all. Bradley just sank his. The air strikes were hit and miss. Which was expected. If Bradley had not sunk his tanks Omaha would have been as successful as the much harder Sword beach.

  • They (U.S. army) had Tanks, but they didn't work well, if the tanks worked, they could have shoot the bunkers, so letting the army disembarc without so many deaths

  • 1700 British and other allies ,the rest were mainly Amercians on Omaha as their tanks all sunk sadly.

  • @carbnon What? Germany occupied Paris not London! Also Germany never occupied Japan they were so called "Allies" Americans seem to lack in history!

  • Inanna2007 were you tought history by a chimpanzee you fuckin retard. The USA did do a lot in the war but the victory belongs to all the countrys involved, You didn't lead jack shit in fact you guys were a litle late...eh.

  • thats a nice song

can u tell my the title?

  • Thanks Froobner. The song's title is Operation Overlord.

  • ty i couldnt tell hehe

  • remembering D-day, and all those who risked their lives preserving freedom. during that day, june 6, 1944.

64th anniversary of D-day. God bless

  • When reminise on the great USA that led the allied forces to liberty and freedom, and how the same great country is now seen as an aggressor,i pray for the recovery of America everyday.

  • USA did not lead the Allied Forces to Liberty and Freedom it was a joint effort from ALL Allied Nations from USA to the USSR.

And maybe if the USA invades a country that needs help say Zimbabwe for example then America can be the World Police, but America wouldn't go into Zimbabwe as there is nothing of use there.

  • hey krod go whine somewhere else

  • Great tune, keep them coming!!!!

  • GOD bless all the souls who fought there
