I want in on this daft "double clutching" nonsense.  Its a ludicrous technique to use in racing. How would having no drive for a period help? If you are out of the power band you're in the wrong gear, a clutch kick would help bring it back to the power band but you're pretty rubbish at racing if you need to do this!! Clutch kick defo helps get the back end out in rwd, I can't see any other legitimate use for it though. Double clutching is what old ladies do in their 1.3 fiestas!

do you even know what double clutching is? you shift into neutral for a brief second and match engine rpms by using the throttle when downshifting and waiting for RPMs to decrease while upshifting. it should take less than a second for the whole shebang to happen, and the end result is a crazy insanely smooth nearly unnoticeable gearchange

@benpowersification When you're in an extensively modified FWD car with a limited slip differential and ratios that brings 1st gear out to 50 or 60mph a well placed "double clutch" AKA a clutch kick will bring the engine into its power band exiting a corner on a circuit. It will quickly add heat to your tires so it should not be done excessively or you will lose overall front tire grip to overheating. It is a common technique in both FWD rally and FWD touring cars.

@K31TH3R I think there is some misunderstanding going on here. 1) Clutch kick, yes, can see the benefit, though I think the need to clutch kick can be avoided by being a better driver. I don't think this is very widely used, but then I don't know many rally/touring drivers! 2) Double clutch, as in selecting neutral and releasing the clutch, you'd have to be a moron (and there are many about) to think that is beneficial to any kind of racing. I think we are agreeing.... :-)
