  • @jakesaundersphoto - Honestly, I couldn't tell you for certain since I've never shot high speed skiing. Sorry.

  • Thanks!!! How much power to pump through your B800's? Could I get away with two B400's? Thanks!!

  • @elliment18 - I usually have my B800s at full power. If you only have B400s you can certainly give them a try.

  • Are those the standard 7 inch reflectors?

  • @redtippmann No, those are 11" (I think) reflectors that AB no longer sells. I believe they sell a newer version of a long-throw reflector.

  • Scott,

do you think that air cushioned lightstands are essential?

I just purchased a pair of of 12 foot stands but they are not air cushioned which does sort of worry me

  • No, I don't know that air cushioned stands would be critical.

  • thanks for the quick reply Scott

I guess if I just make sure that the knobs are tight I won't have to worry about my bees crashing down

  • Thanks for posting this video Scott!

I've been following it abit on FM but a video helps alot too

Thanks for putting in the hard work to produce these vids Scott!

  • You're welcome. Thanks for checking them out; glad they help.

  • With the strobes what aperture settings are you using? Wide open at F/2.8 or do you stop down?

  • No need to shoot wide open with strobes. I'm usually at about f5. Varies from f4 to f5.6 depending on the specific venue and where I can place the strobes.

Sometimes if I want to capture cation at the opposite end of the court from where the strobes are, I will dial the aperture wide open then stop it back down when the action comes back toward me. Not an ideal situation, but can result in some usable shots now and then.

  • Great, thanks for sharing, looking forward to see your vidoe on shooting position and images

  • The B800 strobe with a regular reflector costs $280. I am using a longer reflector, which costs extra. I would say if you want to use this basic set-up, you'll need to plan on spending close to $1,000.

My son actually shot this game, but when either of us shoot we almost always shoot from the baseline, near where the 3-point line meets the baseline. I will soon have another video showing the shooting position and images.

  • how much does one of those strobes cost? also, are you shooting from only one side of the court (not the end, the side) because the light bounces down on the one side...?
