THAT WAS THE HARDEST SHOW EVER!!! BUT I LOVED EVERY SECON OF IT. OMG. THAT WAS SO HARD FOR A FRESHMAN YEAR. HHS BAND ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP ROCKING FLUTE SECTION! [flute section cripple #2] haha. i love my band. we r so amazing. so fun.

I'm glad you understand and appreciate the challenge of the show. It was quite a task to put together for you guys as well but it was very much worth it.
Now, a show as technically challenging won't seem as much and a show a notch easier should be a breeze to perform.
I'm looking forward to the 2009 season and I hope you get as much out of the next season as you did this past one.

That's cool. I understand it a bit better now. I have written a fair bit of drill myself and have also done a bit of judging so I realise that it doesn't always translate well on "paper". Now that I understand what you are going for here, on a re-view, it makes much more sense. It doesn't help either that you don't have a larger ensemble to work with either.

I think with more people, the motion could have started all around the field rather than just from the one place. I really do prefer writing for smaller ensembles though.
I'm more of a "How we get from picture to picture" designer than a sole "picture to picture" designer so a lot should be added or interpreted into whats on the paper so you miss it in the animation itself.
I did however find this particular show music a challenge designing to and I'm still going back to change parts.

If I am totally honest, I am not that struck on it. The back half number 2 side at about the 4:00 mark seems to be a bit of an afterthought. The beginning is far to muddled and ill defined for my liking. I can see where you are going with it but for me it just doesn't work.

Hi cainanuk - I don't totally disagree with your comments though maybe a bit more explanation of those parts will give it more sense.
The opening was defined in the charts instructions to be sequential - every 6 cts X+1 people begin moving. The vertical alignment was suggested in the charts but if that wasn't technically possible that the movement could be "scattered". The key here which you can't see is that there was to be sequential body movement added. If the lines stayed vertical,

the body movement was to line up as such, if the movement was more scattered then even though the body movement was to be sequential, it wasn't to line up. (So we'd see what seemed to be total randomness but with everyone doing the same body movement just starting at different times.
At 4:00, that is percussion staged backfield in poses (Or just facing backfield) to be a backdrop to the existing movement. From 3:03 (or so) till they hit their ending spot, they move at the same tempo as the,

opener so they basically stopped whenever they got to their spot. The motion prior to 3:03 was to give the illusion of them fading away then breaking from the ensemble by keeping a steady tempo while the rest switched gears.
The ending sequence was constructed to be a continuation of the beginning sequence but in reverse. 1 sole Wind member becomes the focus on the last note as they were the focus in the beginning.
These segments were explained to the staff via the chart's instructions.
