Virginia Tech Tribute - Bridge Over Troubled Waters

I had the distinct privilege of being part of the Hofstra Symphonic Band. A composer named Sam Hazo wrote a piece called "Bridges." It was commissioned by Virginia Tech to be performed for a memorial service, not sure how exactly it was done. Since he has seen our band before, was friendly with our director & knew us, he decided to send the music to our band so that we could perform it. It was an emotional journey to perform the piece! my heart goes out to those who had to suffer through this!

i would say this is my favorite tribute video, this is such an awesome video that you made for them. i hope there all doing better, coming up on the 1 year date people are still talking about it, which they should. i wear my virginia tech stuff more prowdly now more then i ever did before

Wow its awsome to see this song dedicated to 4/16.... we been signing this song since Feb in chorus and well after 4/16 i asked my choir director if we could dedicate this song to VaTech since i had a brother who went there and he agreed and well it ment alot to me and well i started cry when we sung this song at our concert

I think it is okay to remember but we also have to understand that there was a gunman and that he wanted the attention. I undestand Christioph Probst. I was upset with the way you made that comment that says kurosawasuperfan's reponse has been removed for gross insensitivity. What did you mean by that.

Kurowasuperfan made highly insensitive remarks. S/he used not only inflammatory words, but said some very deragatory remarks concerning the tragedy. I agreed with the request made by another viewer to remove the remarks because they were so hurtful.

This is so tragic, its awful. But Cho needs to be in it too really. He was one of many hundreds who also suffered for profits by the pharmaceutical industry - though we don't know which comopany as they aren't likely to say "he was on OUR drug with 'homicidality in clinical trials codes as nausea' as we don't want this known". I can understand (from not realising) well why he isn't included. Heartfelt sympathy to all the families.

I don't believe that to be true.  A tribute to the victims is just one facet to the bigger picture. Already Gov. Kaine is working on closing a legal loophole that allowed a suicidal person to buy a gun. There is a probe as to why this happened, to help prevent it from happening in the future. I think in the meantime, it is okay to grieve for those who lost their lives. Some people lay flowers, some light a candle, and some make visual tributes.

I made this because most of my friends graduated from VA Tech and I wanted to do something to show my support to them and the current students.  I felt that this song conveyed not only the terrible sadness I and many others felt, but hope for the future as well.

This is one way we remember the victims in our culture today.  Maybe it doesn't make sense to everyone, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it. There is no wrong way to remember such a tragedy. I think a new generation (that many of the victims of this day were a part of) does want to look at the problems in our society. We have a lot of hope, and videos and tributes like this one help us build that hope while remembering those that died at the same time.

I think these kids who died will go to heaven and the killer was pick on and needed serious help but no one gave it to him.

People tried to give it to him many times, and he always refused. That is why I believe that in the end, he did have a choice to make and he choose to take innocent lives.
