A bike lane that camouflages cyclists from motorists' view and which therefore exposes them to an increased incidence of conflicts cannot be seriously described as 'protected'. These bike lanes only 'seem' protected to those who are relatively new to cycling. A more accurate description might be a 'cyclist trap', designed to lure unseasoned cyclists into a corridor so that they can be most easily killed. Essentially, infrastructure like this is an open air, free range cyclist slaughterhouse.
So why aren't these everywhere? COME ON CHICAGO.
