Well i don't think whaling is nice, but i think certain species of whale exist in very large populations and perhaps a certain amount of whales can be hunted at a certain time of year. I know indigenous peoples of siberia, alaska and canada hunt a few whales a year and that way the population of whales is not hurt, while supplying them with meat and other products. But i don't think whale populations have recovered completely to be hunted commercially.

The SSCS do not protest against Aboriginals who eat whales to survive because by definition their catches must be sustainable. You shouldn't compare Aboriginal whaling to Commercial whaling because both are utilized for different reasons. Well i don't think whaling is nice, but i think certain species of whale exist in very large populations and perhaps a certain amount of whales can be hunted at a certain time of year. I know indigenous peoples of siberia, alaska and canada hunt a few whales a year and that way the population of whales is not hurt, while supplying them with meat and other products. But i don't think whale populations have recovered completely to be hunted commercially.

The IWC does allow a certain number of Whales to be killed for scientific research but the IWC also declared that particular part of the ocean to be a marine sanctuary for Whales. The japanese use one IWC ruling as an excuse to hunt Whales, but dispute the other IWC ruling as "not binding". They pick and choose the laws they wish to follow. The Sea Shepherds try to prevent the whaling under UN GA RES 37/7: World Charter for Nature which specifically allows persons or associations to take action

The SSCS do not protest against Aboriginals who eat whales to survive because by definition their catches must be sustainable. You shouldn't compare Aboriginal whaling to Commercial whaling because both are utilized for different reasons. Japan does not need whales to survive, nor have they had a culture of whaling in the Southern Ocean. Their operations were the same as any industrial whaling nation

That is incorrect. There are actually more protests against the killing of domestic livestock, most are actually far more frequent and far more violent than the whaling issue could ever hope to be. Furthermore domestic livestock will never be endangered and there will never be a risk mainly because those animals are born and bred for human consumption and by law must be put down humanely

Those handful of people are aboriginals living in the remote regions of Alaska and Washington state, the reason why they are allowed to continue to whale hunt is because their communities still depend on whales as a main resource. Without it people will have to be uprooted and relocated. They also hunt in a sustainable manner

The SSCS do in fact walk a fine line between legal and illegal, but they are certainly allowed to protest against actions that they (and many people) find detrimental to the environment. But the fact is none of them have been convicted for anything nor has their organization has been shut down, and if they were terrorists or criminals then I'm sure the US would have shut them down

Whales are proven to be endangered. They're struggling to survive. Cutting their numbers is not helping. There are other sources of food for people to go after. If the whale, or any major animal, goes extinct it'll hurt the entire world's foodchain. So WE will be closer to extinction. Besides, Whales are the second most intelligent animal in the history of the world. They're special and important. Deer and kangaroos are nowhere near endangerment. Pigs and cows are even systematically REPLENISHED
